Fun fact the Chinese version of the theme song was banned because of people thinking kids would learn how to hack

I mean,the only thing you could learn from this show is what is a firewall and what is a EMI bomb

Which is a travesty because I’d say there’s an argument for the theme song ranking to have the Chinese language at the top. At worst case it’s top 3: French, Chinese, English are roughly top 3.
@Aqueenoffairys3 жыл бұрын
The "encouraging hacking" stuff is just a rumour. The truth is it was banned in China because the distribution company lied and said it was an original Chinese production, because (from what I hear) Chinese shows are viewed more favourably than foreign ones in China. They got caught and had to cease distribution. To my knowledge, Moonscoop never claimed ownership of the Chinese dub, so it's hard to even say whether it was officially licensed or not. You can read about it on the Chinese Wikipedia page for the show. Makes much more sense if you ask me, since as people have said, the hacking stuff in the show is pretty vague P:

I still randomly sing the serbian version of the theme song to myself, i have basically disassociated with where i live for personal reasons but its the one thing i subconsciously still remember Code lyoko was one of the only parts of my life i had that i can consider a childhood and its a show i hold really close to my heart, ive recently started rewatching the entire series in english because back then i haven't really watched everything in order or understood everything unlike now I really just want to thank the producers of the series in general even though there were a lot of differences between the serbian, french and english dub of the show (i think that the serbian dub based itself off of the french version unlike a fair bit that based themselves off of the english dub) Also MoonScoop for carrying the series and making it even better from S2 onward, S1 was great but S2 was really when the series started shaping up into its own thing i owe a lot of shit to this series honestly.

I'm portuguese and I swear code lyoko was a huge part of my childhood, but for some weird reason I have no recollection of it being in Portuguese, I only remember everything in english, and I mean the opening and the actual cartoon. Wth

Maybe you didn't watch it in Portuguese. The series aired on Canal Panda and Panda Biggs with the English dub till 2010 (I guess). That year, Code Lyoko returned to Canal Panda but with a Portuguese dub, which was amazing to me because sometimes I couldn't finish reading the subtitles 😅 (well I watched so many times the episodes that I almost knew all the dialogues, but watching in Portuguese was special). I don't know why I answered you in English but ok...

The Finnish one always has a special place in my heart since I grew up with it ❤️ However, I really love the French and English version as well (so beautiful). I really wanted to enjoy the Japanese one, but it really didn't fit in. Nothing wrong with the words, but there was something in the pitch accent (especially in the beginning) that made it sound a bit odd Which is really sad, because Japanese is a beautiful langauge and pulls of so many songs so well 😭

I think that the castillian version is a fanmade, this is the firt time that I hear it, here we have the english version too, but at the beginning says "codigo lyoko" with the title
@delsevthefox3 жыл бұрын
Actually the castillian version is oficial but was never used. It's kind of sad because it's a good translation and the voices are pretty good. The show was aired using the English version, what made hard for the children to learn and sing the lyrics.

Tbh here in Spain they never put the Spanish intro, it was always in English. And now hearing it now in my native language is strange

Ok, at first I was annoyed Hindi didn't make it, but Sinhalese is an Indian language and that version was a chorus that straight up slapped, so I'm good. On an unrelated note, anyone else wanna see Yumi sing Code Ryoko now?

Honestly, in a purely musical perspective I think the English one is the best version, followed by the Sinhalese and the original French. I'm usually a sucker for Japanese media and don't have any reasons to be particularly biased towards English (it's not even my first language), but I really never realized how much genius went into the English lyrics until now. Take the chorus for example. 4 lines, each exactly 5 syllables, no more and no less, each meaningful on its own, yet close enough to the original in motive that it doesn't disrespect it. And all of these lines ended with the "all" sound without any approximations or rhyme changes, while that sound is not even all that common in the English language. Compare this to the original French version where the same two lines were repeated twice and they used the "er" sound which is the base suffix for every verb, and I don't know Sinhalese but that "nuno" sound obviously stands for something. All other versions contain rhyme changes, syllabic games, approximations, or generic messages about fighting and winning against evil as well. While those might be good, the English one is about the only one I'd consider poetic. Thank you so much for doing this.

You can't put any song above french version, the lyric in english are pretty bad and making it sound more childish, the orignal is always the best one no matter what, you can't transcipt the same emotion and meaning in another langage. You probably native (english) and that's the only reason why you put the english version 1st, in other wordsn you are biased
