Excellent review, and finally someone noticed the downscale filler panels on either side of the infotainment screen. They really stick out in an otherwise nice interior. But Cadillac was kind enough to spare us the overwrought C-pillar designs of the CT5 and 2021 Escalade. The least expensive Cadillac is also the most tastefully rendered.

I drive a 2014 Cadillac ATS! The predecessor to this vehicle. Here are my takes: 1. Cabin quality has not improved and in some areas has diminished substantially! My cabin definitely has a more cut & sewn vibe to it. This looks more like a Chevy Cruze inside. In 2020, Cadillac should have given the CT4 a full digital gauges like every other competitor. Also, door pockets NEED velvet lining in them in a luxury vehicle. 2. The exterior design is less appealing to me. While I like the slight length increase & prays that it goes to rear seat occupants, I am a little disheartened that Cadillac chose to cheaply add length in the overhangs as opposed to a wheel base increase; as this devalues the proportions of the vehicle, which in a premium product, is important. Also, I dislike Cadillac’s switch to horizontal lighting! The vertical stacked lights were uniquely cadillac, not a single other manufacturer did that. It just seems like change for the sake of change, meanwhile the segment leading germans are very consistent with their product styling. A 15 year old BMW or Audi product still largely resembles the products today. The same can’t be said for Cadillac, brand loyalists like consistency! 3. Hate the new cadillac ‘shield’; I want my crest & wreath. If they wanted something ‘new’, Cadillac should have went with the 60’s style ‘V’ bottom crest as a throwback. I might skip this generation of CT4 unless they rectify some of these problems. The gauges & headlight styling are my biggest gripes with this generation. As always, thank you Tom for the wonderfully informative interview ❤️ I hope you are safe and sound ;)

At 7:53 is reported that it has 10.7 cubic feet or 302 liters of trunk or boot space. This is the typical FAKE GOURMET sedan, the one that comes ready to be swallowed by an SUV. In the ranking of decent sedans (TOP 500 SEDANS) with a trunk capacity above 500 liters or 17.6 cubic feet it does not enter. The trunk of this car is smaller than the trunk of the Renault Megane, a HATCHBACK sold in Australia which has a trunk of 434 liters or 15.3 cubic feet of capacity. In other words, it is a shame for a Cadillac (GM luxury brand) to have such a small trunk. Thanks Tom Voelk this time you did it right. ha ha ha

Guess I'm an old curmudgeon because I look at that Caddy and see my 2011 Saab 9-5 Aero, similar lines, similar wheels, similar seats and complete with a whole bunch of cheaped out GM interior parts that look identical to those in the CT4. GM ruined what was once an iconic beautiful automobile. But hey, whatever. Really like your videos which I used to watch religiously when they were part of the NYT but only see now when I'm feeling I can tolerate Google/KZbin multiple ad intrusions. Grrr!

Sorry about the ads but a guy's got to eat. Mmmm, ramen again.

@@DrivenCarReviews I know that, but I'd much rather pay directly for access to the site than endure six ad interruptions in 15 minutes, especially all the political BS right now. I pay no attention to the ads--skip them as soon as I'm allowed. Anyway, your reveiws are good--maybe do a few more common folk cars. Fun to watch Porsches and stuff but my wallet has no interest in them! if there's a way to pay directly please put it up somewhere. $40/year ok? Thanks. And Ramen ain't bad--Try the packaged oriental stuff, add a couple chopped green onions, a stalk of chopped celery and some ripped up Napa cabbage. Accompany with good cheese and sourdough bread. Terrific!

@@roo1314 2 options. You can watch them on Apple Podcasts with no commercials (but in standard def video because it's obscenely expensive for me to upload in HD) or KZbin Premium that's $12 a month. At least the political stuff should die down.

Cadillac has lost the luxury specialness but not the luxury price. Lol. The build quality of Cadillac is what Chevy should be and make Cadillac even fancier. Foreign car brands are leaving American brands in the dust.

Horrible engine. How can they put a truck engine on a passenger car? The old ATS had better motors.

...or, is it a car engine in a truck? Are there different revisions of the same engine, i.e. Ver. A is tuned for torque (truck), and Ver. B tuned for HP (car)...don't know, just aaking...

@@K03sport It does not rev high. It is targeted for trucks where torque is king as opposed to horsepower which is king for cars. It is a truck engine. Except it is a small truck engine not for Silverado. no red blooded American buys a four cylinder truck engine.

I think it more about the way and angle the light hits it. It's about the same as most good paint these days. Today's water based paints are much more susceptible to that.
