Love the channel! I've been dawless since 2001 with the AW4416 with lots of outboard gear and before that I recorded to tape. Nice to see like minded people who get it right going in and who will commit to their art. Keep up the good work!

Just chiming in to say that your videos of four track recording gave me a really strong spark. Within a month or two since I first saw one of your videos (in last november), I bought Tascam's 424 mk II, started to record my first solo album AND also started a video diary about the whole process! Crazy! I've been making music for all my life and mainly used computers with tracker or DAW software in the past to make it, but for the past ten years I've been struggling to succeed in making my album due to uninspirational problems in computer based workflow and the perfectionism that comes with it. This has been totally transformative for me. Thank you and I'll sure be waiting for your dawless content!

thanks for everything you do, man! you’ve inspired me to pursue a DAWless setup. it feels so much better when I actually have to perform my song in order to record it, and limiting myself to 4 tracks with my 414 has inspired a lot of creativity. i’ve been working with it for a little over a year, and i’m still discovering new tricks and sweet spots for the input levels, and while it can be unforgiving, it’s much more rewarding in the end, personally. it’s great to know that there actually are others out there trying to keep the spirit alive

@@424Recording I am still waiting on the model 16 to arrive! What's funny about the 424 mkII I have is that it was not until more recently that I discovered the 4 individual outs in the back (utterly incredible). I am thinking I will send some 424 tracks into the model 16 to see how that sounds combined with digital tracks. Also planing on mixing out from the model 16 to a tascam 202mkv cassette deck I have for tape masters. The 488 mkIII is great too (even though it does not have individual outs) I'm loving it. Hi Mike,.. Been "dawless" my whole life. The Tascam Model 12 is the closest to computer recording i've gotten. Interesting thing I read from Jeff Tweedy's new book: "How to write one song" he said he use to prefer analog recording on a Tascam over digital recording because the digital was too clear for his voice. He didn't like how crystal clear his voice sounded on digital recording, the analog was more forgiving to his voice. Seems he got around to accepting it in digital now although.
@424Recording4 жыл бұрын
That's awesome! Oh, that's cool! Jody sent me a copy for Christmas. I need to start reading ASAP! Wow, I could totally see that, re: Tweedy/Tascam. Something about the compression and distortion, it's magical and musical. It just sounds so pleasing to the ear... haha yeah, right! I guess he's fine with digital now!

• The theme of this video (Dawless 2021) reminded me about how I want to have a dawnless 2021 (or not waking up before the outside is enough to make the weight scale readable). • 0:43 i-Logic-al • Not that it's for advertising, but I am dawless and my channel really is proof. I only use it because I want to hear sound from physical media players* (and for that matter, I use my camera app just to watch the image from those devices, or basically me using 2 apps other than for their intended purposes - my monitor doesn't have the right connections to have a simple setup). *Including what I record myself on them - that's exactly what Is going on with that said proof on my channel :-)
