Next time just use 3M double sided tape to mount the camera. It holds up to rain, sleet, snow, hot , or cold weather. I mounted a camera using that tape on the back of my 2002 Silverado 3 years ago connected to a rearview mirror that's also a monitor when you turn it on. I can see if our 5 th wheel is lining up with the hitch in the bed of the truck plus It gives a much better view at night than just the mirror. I also mounted wireless cameras on out 5th wheel on each side at the top of our bedroom and on the rear that send the signal to a 12 inch split-screen monitor mounted on the console of the truck. When we get setup at a campsite I just take the monitor inside and use it as a security system being able to see all around our 5th wheel day or night.

@Steve Wainwright, I like your thinking! Can you please let me know what rearview mirror you are using, and what did you go with for your wireless cams and split-screen monitor? Links are great. Opinions are welcomed. Anything you can share is much appreciated! We agree about using the cams for security while camping, there are times you hear something and just want to look outside to see what's going on without going outside. (I ordered the 3m outdoor tape - great idea! Back of my trailer has a shower wall where I'd have had to drill, and that was not gonna happen)

Alternative to drilling, what are your thoughts about using 3M tape on mounting bracket? Also, some cameras mount above the ramp, how would that look on the camera view?

I didn’t want to run the wiring around the door so we didn’t put it at the top. I am really happy with the angle we have the camera at. And no leaks at all!

Great video. I just bought the same truck and I am thinking about getting the Chevy trailer camera. Can you adjust the angle of the camera or is it pretty much a fixed setting????

looks like you posted this a year ago. I have a TT toyhauler but no way i am drilling hols in mine. Thought about mounting camera down low. Somewhere where the door wont hit when ramp is down. From what i can see from other videos the height is only if a person wants that invisible trailer view which i do not care enough about to mount this in the middle of my ramp door. Any problem with mounting this down low vs the ramp door?

Should not be a problem to mount it lower and angle the camera up

We have a 2021 Chevy 3500 High Country and are unable to locate where to get the camera accessory. Could I ask where you got yours from? Any help would be appreciated, as we have a 41 foot Montana 5th wheel and have been searching to no avail.

@@hbatwell We still are without a camera because no one in NY state has one…ugh! But we use the bed and trailering cameras on the truck to haul the Montana; and she moves and parks with ease. We have the 5th wheel that sets into the pucks, so it’s drop that into the bed and head out. It seems to handle the weight of the Montana without issue, which is nice because we thought we may need to add airbags - but so far, so good.

@@momtothe7thpower for the camera accessory to work, the trailer must be a bumper pull and32’ long or less. I have found an adapter to allow you to connect Furrion cameras to your Montana. Furrion FR74FR.

Just the Tire pressure monitors, they came from Chevy when we ordered the truck.

Is there a reason why this GM camera could not be mounted where the Furrion camera is mounted?

The cord was the limitation. I needed it to reach to plug in the truck. The furrion is wireless

We got everything through our Chevrolet dealership. But now with shortages of everything I don’t know where you could find it.

Hello, trying to install it on the back of my trailer. I understand the center of the trailer, but how high (or is it centered) instructions say “ 100mm higher than the vehicle rear camera? Thanks

We just held the camera up with it plugged in and found what height worked for us. Hope this helps!

My camera on the tailgate is 55" off the ground and 100mm is just under 4" so mount this camera at 59" +/- 4".

I'm looking to pick up this camera system. We have the Furrion camera system, It's,...ok....This GM system that's hard wired, I think will work better. I noticed your camera was located in the middle rather then the top. How high off the ground dose the camera need to be? Awesome review and install, Thank you for sharing. Just bought a 2022 GMC HD. They’re not wireless yet. Just changed from Furrion to this setup. Much better.

@@chadward6978did you end up going with a Furrion? And does it link to the infotainment system on your truck? I have a 22, 1500 and the current GM camera keeps acting up and sometimes not displaying the trailer camera. I’m looking to upgrade. Thanks.
