A little hint here for DYI. Always adjust the chain by pulling it back. If you over-tighten it, then loosen it up a lot and slide the wheel forward, then start working it back again. Never over tighten it, then loosen it up a half turn and try to push the tire back to the tight position. It doesn't work well. When you tighten the axel bolt, your adjusters are always loose. Always adjust by pulling back. Also you should get a wax-based chain lube like Dupont Chain Saver (Amazon). It doesn't throw-off and it doesn't get all greasy-dirty-black like the oil based chains. It's a dry lube. It's interesting to note that the original CT90/110 had lower gear ratios (without the low range) than the new CT125 has. Here are the numbers: CT90/110: 1st 2.538:1 (CT125 2.5:1), 2nd 1.611 (CT125 1.55), 3rd 1.19 (CT125 1.15), 4th 0.958 (CT125 0.923). Fairly close but definitely geared lower. Primary driven gear reduction of the CT90/110 was 3:1 (15/45 sprockets). Primary driven gear reduction of the CT125 is 2.79:1 with stock 14/39 gears. 13/39 would be 3:1 which would be the same as the stock CT90/110. I wonder if your top speed will be 45-50 MPH now like all 6 of my old ones were, or if the newer, fuel injected engine will boost that?

Chain wax is THE worst "lubricant"??? ever invented. It sticks to the chain like it is suppose to, then picks up and holds every freaking piece of dirt that flies on to it and holds it forever. You can not wash that stuff off either. Not with soap and hot water, solvents, acid, nothing. And every time you put more on it just keeps building up thicker and thicker. They were developed for lazy asses that can't or don't want to do regular maintanence. Traditional oil based lubricants are a much better albeit messier (but so what)way and if you can't make the time and effort to maintain you toys then just don't have them.

A couple handy tips: Never put a worn chain on a new sprocket, or a new chain on a worn out sprocket! A worn out chain can damage a new sprocket and a worn out sprocket can damage a new chain! You showed this at the end, count the flats on the adjuster bolt, always adjust both sides the dame number of flats, say 3 flats on the right then 3 flats on the right, then rotate the rear tire to even things out. You should have rotated your rear tire several times in your adjustment, but I never saw you rotate it even once. Chains don't wear evenly, so there will be tight spots and loose spots as you turn your rear wheel, you need to rotate it to find those spots to make sure that it isn't too tight at some point in the rotation.

Just wondering, bicycle chains measure 12 inches from the center of a link to the center of a link. Using a ruler, if the chain is stretched 1/8th of an inch or more, time for a new chain. Would something like that, measuring chain stretch work for a motorcycle chain? Just wondering.

it does trip it at time but once you stop turn off it re-sets. my thoughts would be considering how well it runs with the smaller sprocket and pulls hills much better i'd rather go that way as its a big improvement over the stock unit

I notice that you worry about speedo variation when changing sprockets. Correct me if I'm wrong but on the nbc110 the speedo is driven off the front wheel so changing sprockets would not affect the speed .It would affect the revs though.

Awesome tutorial. Excellent idea on marking the chain adjuster nuts👍👏. The Monkey adjusters totally mess me up and I had no idea where I was with it. You got smart stuff goin on Mate. I will be totally using that technique next time. I've already bought my oring chain for the CT me ain't got yet. Its going on straight away so I will be the guinea pig to see how much engine lag it creates AND document the chain adjustment intervals. It was surprisingly cheap. A DID420V 112 link count oring chain with the master link included was only like $23 on Amazon. I've got a chain breaker to take it down to 108 total. Doing that and then doing the oil transfusion you taught me and installing me new magnetic oil sump plug before I even ride as well. That will be an interesting first oil change reveal to see whats on that plug tip.

That seems easy enough to do and without needing a factory service manual to tell you how to perform the task. Did you ever receive an owner's manual for the Hunter and if you did how much information was contained in the manual regarding maintenance and repair? That swing arm bolt looked interesting. It looks like it wouldn't be too hard to remove the swing arm bolt and to grease whatever Honda is using for bearings there. I suppose that what looks like a hole in the end of the swing arm shaft is not designed for greasing the bearings as was common on some motorcycles, like BMW airheads, back in the day.
