2020 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Premium review | Australia

Jenny reviews the latest 2020 Hyundai Veloster in the top Turbo Premium trim. Jenny liked the first Veloster on its release. It was Hyundai’s entry into the market of quirky, stylish performance coupes that well let’s face it. Looked completely unique. This new Veloster has kept many of the styling queues whilst modernising them just enough.
Aside from the unusual coupeish design it also had a pretty unique 2+1 door setup that was 1 door on the drivers' side.
And 2 doors on the passenger side that added more practicality to the coupe.
The latest Veloster a 1.6 T-GDi which has a turbocharger and produces 150 kW and 265 Nm of torque between 1500 and 4500 revs. There is a Veloster N version, but it is not available in Australia just yet.
Both trims get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Turbo also gets torque G-force and turbo-boost gauges which is a nice touch.

Finally!!!! A 2019/2020 Veloster Turbo youtube review that mentions its new multilink fully independent suspension, thanks Jenny!! IMO its wider tracks F/R, larger rubber 225/40, its lower height, and its sophisticated multilink rear suspension all are features above and beyond what the new little hottie is atm in Oz, the i20N. Yeah the i20N would leave a Veloster Turbo behind on a racing circuit, as its lighter and has a bit more torque. Interestingly though this Veloster Turbo gives you its maximum torque a lot lower down in the rev range than the little i20N, making it easier to drive quickly in all road conditions compared with the i20N.

Jenny, im surprised about these Models! I dont even knew there are so many! But here in Europe we have so uch different Models to your Country. May i correct you in one way? Ifeel sad that first she did not talk at all enough about HUD system, heating and cooling seats and steering wheel heated also, plus the great panoramic sun roof, all the options on the 8 inches electronic panel with a ton of options like google map etc.. the sound system that is great, the different ride modes, total interior climat controls etc... etc... instead of talking mmore then 10 minutes of the doors and the outside of this wonderful car that i just bought!! It is a charm to drive and realy feel like a not only sport car but a hell of nice car to drive in town and in high way!! But i have to say she is beautiful and rly nice looking woman ;)

I remember when I used to have veloster, the number of heads turned looking at it. and the number of hoons asking me to race them at the red light... Well, mine is only the Veloster+ model, so no turbo. I always said "It looks a lot faster than It actually is"

Re Driver Seat Belt Jenny. Check out Doug Morano's (US) Video (@ abt 9.09) where an extension arm is available for 'Reaching the very difficult driver's side belt'. So frustrating!!!

A higher price is not the only reason that you wouldn't buy the top spec, Jenny. Some people hate the flawed engineering that is ALL Dual Clutch Transmissions. It's precisely the reason why I bought a Sport+ instead of a GT spec Kia Cerato.

I note that the Veloster 2020 still has the double door on the Road Side. Recipe for disaster for passengers & a nightmare for occasional mums. Surely a nod to US & EU "Left Hand Drive".

No! Its manufactured in reverse for RHD markets like Japan/Australia. The double door opening to the kerbside. Same as the US & EU LHD market.

0.10seconds re the word 'unique' :- Jenny. It's either unique or not unique. The word 'Unique' doesn't need a 'qualifier'. it's an 'absolute'. And at 10.30, you said VelosEter (like Jenna did some time ago.) It's not pronounced like that. Otherwise, I enjoyed your review of the 2020 Hyundai Veloster. Indeed, if I was younger, I might buy a Veloster as an unusual addition to my garage.
