What do you think of the Hyundai Venue? Would you buy it over an Elantra or Civic or Ecosport or anything else?

It happened with the Kia Soul, so I don't see why it wouldn't also happen with this new Hyundai Venue. It's affordable and cheap to run. It's easy to get in and out of with good outward visibility. The 60+ crowd is going to love this. They're smart.

I just bought this car, it is not small at all inside, great head room, the back comfy seats my 2 large Shepherds without being crowded. I had the green car jazzed up with black accents such as handles, side mirrors, grill, the venue sign in back, powder coated rims and tinted windows. I also added rain guards and a wind guard for the moon roof. I can pretty much drive the car hands free on the highway, very responsive but keep your guard up in case there is a break in the stripes on the road, then it kicks off. Pick up is just fine, the car rides very smooth even at 70 MpH, turning radius is small, great for U-turns and parking. All together with tax, etc it was $25k. Great car for the price, and fun to drive. Gas mileage is fantastic, I get between 38-40 miles per gallon. 10 Gallon tank costs 20 bucks to fill in my area. This is my first foreign car I bought because I didn't want to spend a bundle, This is def a "chick" car and I'm loving it.

I guess i am considered a senior citizen now and I love this car. I bought it in 2020 and most of my driving is city driving. It has plenty of pep and handles quite well. I get 40 mpg on the highway and 30+ mpg locally. I have owned dozens of cars, SUV;s and trucks in my life including an Audi 90 Quattro, a couple of Acura CL Type S's, Mustang GT, Super Charged Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, Honda Prelude and others. Over all those cars I actually prefer driving this over all of them now. I have had it going on 5 years now with zero problems. The features on it are great, I don't have people pulling up to me wanting to race and I don't have to worry about the cops pulling me over because i have a lead foot driving a sports car. I guess I am getting old. 🤣

In a civic, it is difficult to pass food from the drive through window! The car is so low that passing food, especially drinks/“hot” coffee, down from the drive through window to civic is awkward and accident prone! Also for Older people with “back problems”, getting into the low civic is harder. Sitting more upright in a SUV is way more comfortable for old people.

The Pontiac Vibe set the standard that the Venue and others follow. Small, reliable, and low cost doesn't have to come with a trunk. I appreciate how Hyundai-Kia is attempting to break into the market more by creating products that have more value for their class and innovative styling. They are even doing this with their luxury brand genesis. While the company has an economy reputation now and made the mistake of a sedan line up with the genesis launch. They do care about quality and enthusiasts (putting a stick in the luxury sporty sedans) and they are putting money into cool enthusiast vehicles (the stinger gt) instead of “appealing” to enthusiasts (the Camry TRD), anyway, I respect the company for making a truly honest efforts and it was stay in my mind next time I am in the buying proccess. Car companies are worried that people aren’t buying enough new cars or stock shift cars, this kind of behavior is what will influence me to do so- NOT fake vents, fake exhausts, etc

Hey guys u were wondering about the blue link? I have a 2018 Sonata and use it almost every day. Works super quick less than 1 min from opening app to actual start of the car. Can choose how long car idles for and what temperature and vents the air comes from. Also turns on heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors and rear defroster for back window. Can also find ur car if u forgot where u parked and get monthly diagnostics and vehicle use sent to you.

We have an itty bitty HR-V for our basic family hauling needs, and it's been a reliable little runner. But this is more interesting and well thought-out in my eyes. The rear doesn't have the same versatility that Honda's Magic Seat system has, but otherwise, I think it's a better package for the class than the HR-V. I do think this would benefit from an AWD option down the road, but the HR-V's AWD is so horrendous and the stock tires are so miserable that it doesn't make a difference in inclement weather anyway.

My sister has been driving small SUVs since forever because her neighborhood tends to flood during the summer rainy season. She owned a CRV for over 10 years and now drives a HRV since the CRV has gone too upscale (translation: more expensive). And the elevated driving position is a bonus.

On the other hand, I am so disappointed when you post a video about a car I'll never ever buy, or even consider buying, because.... well just look at it :D Another one of those bins on wheels :D Still have to watch it and thumbs up to support you because the review is well made and very informative for those that are actually considering buying this thing.

I have BlueLink. I use it sometimes, mostly in the winter for remote start. The good thing is I got five years of free service with my new Tucson that I bought last year. It lets you start, lock and unlock the car, turn on the lights, etc. It will also track kilometres, fuel levels, etc. The downside is it’s super, super slow. To remote start my car takes literally 2-3 minutes, and you have to keep the screen on the entire time. Also, the remote start times out at 10 minutes, and that’s not really long enough to heat up your car in the winter, especially with the auto climate control, so it’s not blasting hot air right away. Overall, I’m glad it’s there, and I like that it’s free, and I didn’t have to get a remote starter installed, but I wouldn’t say it’s a great system.

For city life, the higher ground clearance eliminates scrapes to the suspension and underbody parts on potholes, cracked uneven sunken roads, and construction metal plates. This reduces the frequency of needing alignment and repainting the underbody to prevent rust. The higher sight line allows longer range visibility, earlier visibility over a hill, visibility through your left and right adjacent cars, so you can see if there is another hidden car/pedestrian behind them, which increases safety and the driver's planning time. This also allows earlier visual detection of uniformed persons in vehicles with lights and megaphones in the same fashion. The higher seats require less hip range of motion to enter. The higher roof decreases the risk of head injury upon entering the vehicle. The benefits and cost savings far exceed the few dollars you save from a sedan's mpg. One damage to the car, injury to the driver, or one ticket exceeds your sedan mpg savings.

Handy video. I was very interested in this Venue thing but clearly, it's underpowered and appears to be more about looks over substance. I'm starting to feel the same about the Kona as well. I might actually go with the Hyundai Elantra GT (hatch). Not as cool looking as the Venue or Kona but in terms of functionality (and likely comfort and quiet ride) - BETTER. Thanks guys!

As a millennial I would much rather have the veloster. It's far more stylish and a more enjoyable car to drive. There is an argument to be made this this is a more practical vehicle but if you want practical the kia soul gets you four doors and lots of cargo space without looking like iso standard generic small suv. This car screams old person car. Edit: this is from somebody who currently owns a hyundai econo box (2011 elantra gt touring) and who will probably go back to hyundai/kia for their next car

I had 6 months of free BlueLink on my 2017 Elantra. It was nice because I got the car in the winter, and my parking was nearly a mile away from my dorm room, so I could walk down and be cold but have a warm car waiting for me with the remote start. I think it had controls to turn on the defrosters, too, so brushing snow off it was easier once I got to the car. It’s an awfully expensive subscription service, though, so I didn’t renew it after my trial. I guess it might make a bigger difference on the new Sonata with its summon feature.
