Love your review. It is very informative. You gave the people what we asked or by showing us that 0-60 acceleration and the power. You really showed us what the bike can do. And that is a very beautiful road that you traveled. I have a brand new 2019 Ninja 650 and love it to death. But will probably upgrade to the z900 in the future.

Awesome video! Been riding my 07 Ninja 250r for about 6 months now. Ride everyday, 7 days a week, 100 miles a day commute to work and back home. Almost 42k miles now on the old bike. Bike has been a project fixing it up from previous owner but it's been fun. Going to upgrade next year and I'm looking at getting Ninja 1000 or the Z900 as my daily rider for the next few years.
@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Just my 2 cents if it means anything. I'd highly recommend the Z over the Ninja. The usable day to day powerband and ergonomics make it a much more livable bike than a full on sports bike.

Hello again, I commented on this video 1 year ago. I just found this video again,... i did indeed wind up getting the Z900. In fact, mine is also ac2020 in candy plasma blue! 👍 Your review is spot on. In fact, as I write this I am at the 2000 mile mark as well.😁 I bought it April of 2021 and it's now October. The Z900 has met all my expectations except one..the tires. At 2K, the front tire is worn, scalped on the sides. I am not an aggressive rider by any means so it's a bit frustrating that I just spent over $400 on new tires, right at the end if the riding season. I will need to sort this out before I ruin my new Michelin Raod 5 tires, unless of course it was just a bad tire. But the Z is amazing. Cheers.

I am an old kawasaki fan - the first new street bike I ever bought was a KZ 750 1984 ( I was about 27 then ) . It was a light metal flake blue one with a dark blue pinstripe. I searched for hours and only found one or two of that color . 20 years ago I got a used 1984 KZ 550 LTD . Then in 2019 I got a red Z900 ( only has ABS ) . I liked it so much that I then got a blue 2020 just like yours . I have 1500 miles on it and about 6500 miles on the red one . I love them both - I am also 6 1 and about 200 lbs . I don't do tricks or anything but on the red 2019 bike - after the 600 mile break in, I always accelerated hard . Even so, I got 5000 on the rear tire before replacement . I almost never use the rear brake ... The fastest I have been is 145 MPH on both bikes . What about you ?
@Nickolasmb3 жыл бұрын
Good review
@kablammy72 жыл бұрын
To give you another perspective on low RPM torque - when I first got mine - one time I accidentally forgot to downshift at a stop . When I started moving again - I had a little trouble because I was in 3rd gear . I was able to get going - I didn't choke down - then I realized I was in 3rd . It was hard to believe because I know I would have not been able to do that so easily with any other bike that I have ridden ...

How do you find the leg position after a good while of riding? I'm looking to upgrade from my ninja 400 and my biggest complaint has to be how cramped my legs are on the bike. It's plenty comfortable for short rides, but after about a couple hours my knees start complaining.
@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
Hey, so i actually went from a ninja 400 as my daily too so i can relate. it's much more spacious. i'm 6'0 and it's just on the cusp of being too cramped but i find it comfortable. I've only done one 3+ hour ride and i was a little stiff after but nothing like on my ninja. Kawasaki also makes an aftermarket raised seat for taller riders that apparently helps a lot too, i don't think i need it but it's nice that the option is there.

@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
i doubt it. it's only about a 50lb difference. And the overall size of the z900 is pretty small. Most of the extra weight is sitting so close to the ground with the increased displacement it's still very easy to wheel around.

I’m interested in your opinion. I currently own the Z650 but wanting to upgrade to the 900. I originally was going for the Z900 but chose the 2020 650 instead. In your honest opinion, would it be worth it for me to trade in my 650 for the ‘20 or the ‘21 Z900 ? Thanks looking forward for your reply.
@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
So i haven't tried out the z650, but i have ridden the ninja 650 which shares the same parallel twin. The 900 is a whole different class of performance and power and it's really something you won't get bored of. With the Ninja 650 i got a little bored with the power after a while and was looking forward to getting on a "bigger" bike. If you can get good trade in value i'd definitely recommend making the step up to the z900. But there is a lot of great competition in that category, so i'd weigh your options for whats most important in that class (z900/mt-09/street triple etc..). But out of all of them i do prefer the Z900. Maybe i'm a Kawi fanboy though lol. If you already have the z650 though i think it would be a nice transition and feel very similar from a control, ergonomics perspective.

I'm 6'0 about 200lbs. For me it's a mix between upright and slightly sporty bent over. If you have shorter arms it's going to be significantly more "sport bike" like as you'll have to be leaning in more. The seat isn't super comfortable and after 2-3 hours for me at least it gets to the point where i'm ready to get off. However Kawi does make an aftermarket seat for taller riders that is apparently a lot more comfortable. I'm thinking that will be a purchase for me in the future

How bad is the wind in your chest while on the highway going 80 plus mph? I currently commute on my ZX636 but I've been considering buying a Z900. I haven't done super long rides on the freeway. But the little stints i have done it's really not that bad. You can't really tuck in, and if it's incredibly windy it can get a bit annoying. Just that naked bike life. But the seating position comfort makes up for it imo

The mirrors you added are really ugly IMO and dont fit the look of the bike, but I respect your concern for safety. Great video on living with the Z900. I'm considering this as my next bike, maybe next spring. I'm trying to decide if this orc a z650 would be better. I'm a newer rider, learned on the Z400. Im curious if the Z900 in low power and all traction and safties would ride like the Z650. So I could in theory have both bikes to grow with my riding skills.

Hey no worries about the mirrors, i'm not a huge fan either but they were what was available at the time. About your question, i have no ridden the z650 but i have ridden the ninja 650 which shares almost everything except the plastics. While it is a fun bike, it's a little lackluster on the top end. Overall only you can decide if you're going to be responsible enough to handle a larger bike. That being said the power band of the z900 is very linear. While it has a ton of grunt and power pretty much everywhere it doesn't have any huge torque spikes that can throw newer riders off. I'd say if you don't mind taking it easy at first the z900 would probably be a more rewarding bike in the long run. Also the rain mode ups all of the traction control/and gives you only about 70% power. You could get comfortable with a z900 in rain mode and take it off once you feel more confident.

This is an excellent review, amongst the best I have seen on 2020 model. I currently own a Z650 and contemplating upgrading to 900. Your comment on weight worries me, I am 5.4 feet tall and 147 pounds, wondering if I can manage this bike, Z 650 is super comfortable for me
@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
@@rajivbhalla3194 Both of them are just about the same height. 820mm vs 805mm so negligible. the Z900 does have about an extra 40lbs of heft though. If you can manage the z650 just fine i don't think it would be too difficult, very similar overall size. But damn, if you're 150lbs the bike is gonna scream and be pretty wheelie happy in 1st and 2nd gear just a forewarning lol.

Not sure if I would like having to turn my head left and right more to see whats behind me than the regular mirrors. But if you all like them that's your choice. I'm thinking of just sticking on round blind spot mirrors and be done with it and enjoy riding 😉

The comments about the bike's weight are amusing. I'm a short, small, thing person. All my bikes have been about the same weight, but I've not had any problems handling them. It's a question of balance and using the throttle, clutch, and brakes correctly.
@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
Yeah totally agree. I think it's mostly based on experience, Newer riders can sometimes struggle with handling the weight in low speed situations till they get a bit more comfortable with modulating rear brakes etc..

@afancybagel64893 жыл бұрын
@@TranslateToEnglish GSXS 750 is going to be faster top end speed. But a more usable day to day bike would be the z900. I had a GSXR 1000 for about a year and i would take the z900 everyday. The riding position, the usable torque is much better for me at least. Unless you plan on frequently tracking the bike i would suggest the z900. Although the z900 would kill at a track too ;)
