I drove both X7 and GLS in same drive mode and ended up buying X7. Mercedes GLS drives like a slow pick up truck whereas X7 drives like a compact sporty sedan (better and smoother ride with faster acceleration - Answer to Andrea's question at 12:36). Mercedes GLS does offer better cargo space with all three rows up though.

I really enjoyed this video and test drive of the Mercedes-Benz GLS with Andrea, I’m a bit surprised that she said that she wouldn’t give up her Porsche Cayenne for the GLS. The , styling, drive, space, long wheelbase and features is a real plus!
@peterszmerdt1959 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. She's def not into Mercedes suspension. Based on her evaluation. Too soft, she said, so I believe this is why. I have to disagree myself. I have a 2021 and would not trade it in for anything. Not at this point anyways. Cayenne doesn't ride nearly as nice, but that's my personal opinion of course. I drove an X7 (which is much more compatible, for quite some time, and I have to say that was awful on long trips. In rear seat you bounce around like a clown. Not even close to GLS built 2020-2023.

I hate to say it Zack I agree with Andrea that shifter is really dumb, I once drove my cousins GLS and was quite lost every time I had to shift and had to look and think before doing it. I don't think it'll ever become a second nature type of thing with this set up IMO

I'm in the US and I really wish MBUSA had that AMG Exterior Package for the 450. It's unfair how the Canadian market has it and it's not appealing to have plastic trim on the fender flares... It's not really the "S-Class of SUV's". The real S-Class has no plastic trim on the exterior sides. Regardless, I'll be placing my order somewhat later 2021 and see what happens. This is a great review regardless I know more a lot of this vehicle as I watched almost 40 videos of this vehicle.

It's a little misleading that you're driving the 6 passenger model but keep saying 7 passenger. If I didn't already know that the third row only has 2 seats I would've assumed it had 3 since you keep saying 7 passengewr with two captains chairs in the second row. By all means specify that it comes in 7 seater configuration but also noting that you have the 6 seater model. Although I love seeing Andrea back so well done there.

it would be great if you could do a comparison with the X7. personally speaking, the design of the GLS is not attractive enough. looks like a bigger GLE. they manage to make the cars bigger in every iteration. i like a proportionate car - size, engine, power etc. and the driving dynamics is the most important aspect. i think the X7 is a better product than this GLS. your thoughts?

"the ride is too smooth and floaty..." This is EXACTLY what I want in a car or SUV. I do not want sport or feel the road imperfections. Give me that smooth floaty magic carpet! As an aside, Lexus bowed to pressures from KZbin reviewers' OBSESSION with performance and sport', and in the process destroying their legendary smooth ride and silent cabin. I will never buy another Lexus and I have test driven the new RX.

It like you complain that the Banana should be bitter or the Aloe Vera to be sweet. The GLS is a luxury business class car: Consumer expect a smooth ride an outstanding suspension. That's why Mercedes give you an AMG Sport version as well for aggression.
@CaptainDawg024 жыл бұрын
She wouldn’t fit the boys in the back of the BMW X7. There is only 3” of space between the two armrests in the captain’s chairs, so it’s impossible to climb to the 3rd row. Huuuuuuuuge differentiator. I mean you could wait 2 minutes for the chair to slide forward and then another 2 to slide back.... It’s what made us have to eliminate the X7 from consideration. Great driving vehicle, had basically the same features, but dang...just too skinny.

Sport Unreliability Vehicle, POS climate change deniers only please. Super complex engine, and undersized suspension parts fail frequently on past versions of this. They missed the window to make this an electric car. The owner of the largest independent Mercedes repair shop near me told me last week that he personally will never buy another Mercedes vehicle as they have become so unreliable in the last 10 years. Sad, as this is a super vehicle to drive and ride in. Just don't take it anywhere a phone doesn't work, cause you will need a tow truck. Go look at the reliability ratings on Consumer Reports or any where that collects data on vehicles more than two years old.

I'd rather you just review the vehicle yourself. She barely knows what she's talking about. Do a proper review and if you really want to get her feedback from driving it, you can make a separate video. Otherwise, this "review" doesn't tell us much about the vehicle.
@J_S_2464 жыл бұрын
@chancy319 Jeez.... Her review is going to appeal to certain people who probably live a different lifestyle from yours and would most probably buy the vehicle. I know I won't buy this vehicle; however, we, the viewers, appreciate her perspective as a female and as a potential consumer of the product out there in the world. She also enjoys contributing to the team, and that's what this is. :) If you know exactly what you want or just want more information, go to the MB website or a dealership and go for your own test-drive.

How could anyone not learn a lot from this video? Andrea added a lot of value with her assessment of how she felt the way it drives - and Zack does a great job, but sometimes when you hear from someone who doesn’t review vehicles every day, it can be easier to understand from another regular driver like Andrea.
