@@robgraham5016 and I've said 10 times it's not a foregone conclusion any driver will win future races. Maybe Perez will join Redbull and win a dozen more? Maybe Merc tanks after 2021 and Russell is never in a competitive car again? It's impossible to predict the future of F1 years from now. Williams used to be as dominant as Merc and in the space of a year they went from winning half of the races in a season to not winning any, so it's kinda silly to predict the future based on the status quo.

Depends who was doing the recording I guess. Some podcasts I know get the hosts to record their own audio separately to the call, then they mix the tracks in post. I think WTF1 just use the plain call audio, so the sound of the person who recorded hasn't been compressed as much.

Russell showed he has the things Lewis has that Bottas doesn’t. Lewis is the benchmark not someone who pushes him but never really betters him. I’m praying that 2007 weighs heavy in Lewis’ mind and when he partners Russell he guides him rather than holds him down. Lewis has started looking to life beyond F1, I hope he moulds the next star. Took Lewis a while to mature and that didn’t really arrive until he partnered Button. A guy who pushed him, beat him, but also taught him.

Verstappen - Bahrein 2017 He crashed about 30 meters from where he crashed in turn 4 last race, due to brake failure. I'm pretty sure he knows damn well that there is a gravel trap. The gravel trap cuts at a very steep angle back to the track, to the point that it is right next to the track. Look at the satellite image, you'll see exactly what I mean. There just wasn't any space to go around Perez' car. Maybe he should have gone left, literally the exact wrong way, to spin the car around on the run-off. I'm not sure if he could've reached that steering angle, especially at that speed, but that might have been the only way he could've continued his race. I don't care what rating Verstappen gets. But I don't like the reason Tom gave for a C.

You guys being so astonished by George's maturity after that disaster... You have to understand that he was in a position where it is the EASIEST to be mature. He knew that everyone could see that he succeeded beyond expectations and then he became a victim of horrible bad luck and got even more sympathy. Yes, he made dumb mistakes and should learn from them if he wants to win a WC. There’s been some love shown to Perez’s drive and win but not nearly enough honestly. THAT WAS INCREDIBLE FROM PEREZ. HE WAS IN LAST AND DROVE THROUGH THE ENTIRE FIELD. @peter pan I think the merc car is so good that you could take any driver on the current f1 grid from Russell to Romain and they would have a good race, dont get me wrong im not naive enough to believe any Tom Dick or Harry off the street could jump in and come close to win but I do think any of the drivers could. Now where george showed his skill is he didn't fall apart and start making all kinds of mistakes like say what i would've imagined albon would've done, and i like albon, i thjnk he should get to stay at red bull, i think that team is built around max to much and that is the reason daniel left and the others keep failing, that being said I just imagine Alex couldn't have handled all the situation as well.

I would argue that George did more good for his career with this performance than if the pit stop drama never happened and he just led from the start. He showed that he can start well, lead well, overtake well, and perform under pressure. If he just led from the start that just shows he can do quali laps.

Matt seemed to be fanboying too much for the last 2 days. I also felt that it is a bit too much from Matt. I get that Russel is like the future "British Superstar F1 driver" and the "heir to Hamilton's throne and all" but hypeing over his potential P1(after the pitstop debacle) and saying he could have absolutely overtaken Perez and all that was a little too biased. Perez came up from last position and won the race after cutting through the field with unreal pace that we had not even seen from the car yet(inspite of it having a repaired floor and an old engine and being Hit and Spun by the Ferrari and later having flat spotted his tyre under the safety car) All this, he did while he is driving for a team, that fired him for no other crime than having the boss's son as his teammmate. Perez is also not that "famous" in europe especially in Britain because his English is not that great and because he not that "interesting" or "outspoken" (in english) due to which F1 media(mostly British) rarely covers him.

i mean he deserved it, but when Albon got the podium last weekend everyone said that he didn't deserve it. this weekend it looked like George would win, but it went to checo and all his fans acted like bahrain gp never happened. Lumping Lance Stroll in with Dan Ticktum is a little weird. Lance didn't seem bitter, he seemed upset that he didn't capitalize on the situation at hand to go for the win. I don't think what happened to George is really comparable to Lance at all. If George had made the same mistake as Lance did we might have seen a different reaction but in this instance George didn't do anything wrong to loose the win so all he can do is move on, compared to Lance where he can be frustrated at himself.

To be fair, Stroll was being mad at himself from what I understood. He's a perfectionist (ironic for someone that inconsistent) so I can totally understand why he thought he could've done better, judging from his inability to defend from Ocon and Perez. Russell was in pain because he drove a perfect race and was stolen from his win by bad luck and a one in 200 team mistake.

I hate that all the talk is about Russell and barely any about Pérez. Got taken out in lap 1 and fought himself back to win it, his pace was better than the Mercs, he could have won this race in a direct battle but was robbed of that by Leclerc. And now the narrative is that Pérez was gifted a win that was taken away from Russell, which in my opinion is just wrong. Russell had a good race, Pérez had a great one. And he fully deserved that win.

What George did was impressive but in my opinion we have already seen Hulkenburg do this more impressively than George. Hulkenburg got a call on Friday while sitting on his couch eating pastries came in and outperformed his teammate twice. Russell got a call on a Tuesday, while in peak racing shape, and being a Mercedes test driver. He had a couple of things working for him that Hulkenburg didn't.

George is a beast. I’m new to the sport but I quickly became a fan of Max. This last year though I’ve been fascinated with George. It would’ve been fun to watch Russ, Max, and Charles battle it out. Except Charles has been going full torpedo lately.
