This is the first oil change I am doing on my 2020 Yamaha TTR 230, I have only ridden it about 8 hours before doing the oil change.
Take into consideration Oil filter Cap O-Rings may stretch when you remove them.
amzn.to/3iSN8cG - Oil Filter does not specify 17+ but it is the same.

That hex head bolt is so you can drain the filter housing. I also have the same bolt configuration.

Our low-hour 2021 230 keeps pumping excessive crankcase oil into the airbox, even when parked and idling. It's not over filled with oil. Any idea what the problem could be?

Second owner of a 2021 230 and the filter housing bolts appear to be the same as yours--different color and one with allen head. I was thinking prior owner must have messed things up, but I guess not.

Im thinking the bolt might be a different length (black vs standard) on the filter cover? Which was used during factory assembly so that the installer was always sure not to put the wrong length bolt in the case.
@RidingwithDylan

Supposedly one of them was meant to be a drain bolt.

I straight piped my 08 ttr230 which the two bikes are the same, try that before you spend money on an exhaust. I’m very happy with the sound and loudness, it’s super easy to do and easy as can be to put the muffler back in. Just take the chrome tip off the exhaust and you can pull the muffle itself out. Keep it for later too.

It definitely does! The one mystery bolt for the oil filter is suppose to be a “drain hole”.

How often do you need to change oil and filter?
@RidingwithDylan
@RidingwithDylan 3 жыл бұрын
the manual will recommend every 10 hr's, there are many people that do change around 15-20 hr's. In my opinion, how you ride and where plus the weather conditions ultimately change the life span of your fluids. If I go out for a weekend and spend two days riding approx. 5 hrs. each day and beating the piss out of the bike, I would change my oil, especially if I was submerging it in water. So I am the 10-15 hr "fool" 😅 It just cost's more $..

6:43 I was waiting to see if your o-ring fit any better than mine. Same thing. I just lined it up carefully and hoped the cover would compress it enough to fit in the groove. Don't forget to bleed the oil system to remove any air in the system.

How do you bleed the oil system ?
@c103110a
@c103110a 3 жыл бұрын
@@dmon13 There's a small, philips head screw on the head on the rear-right side. Just loosen and start the bike after an oil change. Oil should start flowing after 30 seconds, then tighten it up.
