440 lbs and 85 hp is now a “middleweight.” What a great time to be shopping for motorcycles. And those pipes… (And the presenter lends a nice regular-rider, “one of us” style.)

I've got the 2019 CB650R. Great bike, have plenty of fun on the streets with it. I'm quite contempt with my ride at the moment, but I would likely upgrade to a newer version if Honda offered the CB650R with a TFT display, Cruise control and the ability to disable ABS. I'd be sold again.

I asked quite a lot of people before buying my CB650R to justify the premium price. Most mentioned about reliability and suspension other than the obvious preference of inline 4 screamer over a parallel twin.

@@RUBBERNMETAL as long as u r happy that’s all that matters. I had a, I think it was labeled, CB 750 in-line 4 way back and it was awesome. Also had a 2017/FZ07 and that twin is a piece of art. Reliability-wise hard to argue against Yamaha or Honda.
@tajwheeler5041

I purchased this bike for the quality fo materials because the MT's tank is plastic and that irks me. The shocks are better for corners than MT's bouncy shocks which is great for my city which is surrounded by mountains. The finely tuned and predictable powertrain is also something I prefer over the MT's wheelie happy engine. Both are fantastic bikes but the CB fits my lifestyle and usage better.
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
@@capngeo2002 yea I agree the MT07 has a different charm from the twin which I think sounds good due to the firing order. I never heard anything bad about Yamaha’s reliability so no doubt about that. The looks of the CB and slightly premium components like showa suspension and radial brakes had me pick the CB even over MT09, Z900 and triumph street triple s. But ultimately can’t go wrong on either one just different recipe.

Great question, I'd like to know as well. We all know emissions regulations kill power. Maybe the power is better spread out across the rev range with a flatter torque curve.

Girls have a wider pelvis and larger buttocks. Maybe the seat somehow suits the female anatomy, or maybe the six foot tall rider just sits a bit further back.

If you want to make it sporty and kill on the b roads, install clipons, aftermarket rearsets, sticky tires and you’re good to go. But if you have more cash laying around, get ohlins rear shock. IF YOU ARE ONLY PLANNING TO KEEP THIS BIKE. I love this bike but when you think about it, best bang for your buck, mt09. But mt09 2021 design tho oh lord just kill me 🤢 MY OPINION! but anyway, everyone is different so we all should just respect that.

Thanks for the review. You have mentioned that you've put the bike on dyno. Would it be possible to share the graph/curves? Some small complain about 2019 model was that there was a dip in torgue between 4000-6000rpm that (they say, I didn't ride it) was noticabe when riding. I own the 2021 and I feel the torgue go up smoothly with rpms (no dip), but it would be nice to see an objective measurment. Can you please share?
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
I have a 2020 model. To be honest I never noticed the dip until it was pointed out by many. It’s very slight and above 7k rpm there’s like a different surge of power.
@Aaron.13

I don’t why it’s become “a thing”.. it’s barely noticeable if at all and does nothing to affect the ride..

@@Aaron.13 Maybe it isn't, yammie noob mentioned it about 2019 model (they said they feel it), it's visible on dyno graph. I can't compare the feel, but on 2021 I don't feel a dip, so it would be nice to see chart, they don't lie ;-). Sadly couldn't find one. Anyway the engine has at least 3 different modes or moods depending on rpms (more and more exciting with revs going up). great bike

@lighthunt 3 жыл бұрын
@@RUBBERNMETAL I've seen your vid earlier. Yeah, it's definitely interesting engine with different feeling getting more and more exciting with revs going up. I love how smooth is it between 4k-6k, buttery smooth for street a lovely crazy above. Like having more bikes. It doesn't need riding modes, they are accessible by different revs
@tanphan1848
@tanphan1848 3 жыл бұрын
@@lighthunt i agree with you, for this machine i dont even need riding mode. But an electrical throttle will allows you to install an autoblipper for clutchless downshifting, so i hope they will implement it on next year model. The Triumph Trident got it, so i think they will do the same to compete.

Why is this so expensive? If I wanted a four cylinder, I could get a gsxs750 or even a z900 for less
@alexp6409
@alexp6409 3 жыл бұрын
A good question...personally I went with the Z900 (I bought a lightly used 2019 ABS model for several grand less, but even new, the Z900 is less than the CB) which has more power and only slightly more weight. I'm not sure if there is a significant difference in terms of build quality, but I'm happy enough with the build quality of my Z. The only other advantage the Honda might have is the looks - otherwise I agree that they need to price this bike more in line with the competitors.

@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
The z900 came super close before I bought my Cb650r. My thoughts: The gsxs750 just looks outdated, wouldn’t feel special and I hated Suzuki’s build quality (I owned a GSXR600 prior). On the Z900, I couldn’t get past the looks to be honest, axial brakes on a high powered bike, and hearing too many z800,er6,versys owners experiencing reliability issue with brittle cams. Honda mostly got me in terms of its looks, shows suspension, radial brakes, reliable reputation and overall build quality. But with that said, Even though the Cb650r has enough power for my use, I still wonder sometimes how much power I would’ve gotten if I bought a z900 instead.

The biggest fleecing of motorcycle dollars on the market is this bike. You get 80 horse and 42 ft/lbs of torque for over $9000. That’s ludicrous. Made in Thailand to boot. MT-09- same money, 35 more horse and built in Japan. Heck, MT-07 will kill this weakling and save you $1500 ish.
