My son and I ride our dirt bikes at MX Acres motocross track on their opening day. He is riding a KTM 50SX Mini. I am riding my new 2021 Kawasaki KX450.

Great video brother! Curious about your experience with the KTM 50. I have 2 young sons that are moving up from a PW and a CRF50, thought of going with a 50 mini and a 50SX. Currently have 2 CRF110s on order for them. Just wondering about your experience with reliability, maintenance, etc... Thanks!

Too much shifting? Seriously bro?

I think im going to get one. Its so smooth and you dont have to wring it out to go fast. As far as putting aftermarket pipes on id leave it alone. It sounds great and you really don't need anymore power or to change it. The levers I would do. Good job!

I took it to the track again today. Very happy with it. There’s nothing wrong with the stock exhaust. I get a small discount from fmf and it’s content for the channel. So I ordered it. Let me know if you one and how you like it.

Hopefully we run into each other at the track this summer. I picked this kx450 up about 4hrs after you bought the 125 from me. I was caught off guard on how fast the 125 sold and I needed a bike.

Any advice for new riders at this track, looks like there were a couple go arounds for the big jumps, I'm hoping to go this weekend
@AndrewDeVries2112 жыл бұрын
I’m bad at all of these but…elbows up. Squeeze the bike with your knees. If there are ruts, look through them not down at your tire. Alway hold your line! Dress for the crash, helmet, boots, gloves, etc. Don’t move out of the way because a faster rider is going to pass you. They will go around. Have fun!!!!

Andrew which bike did you like more and why? the YZ 450f or the the kx 450 those are the two I'm trying to decide between.

Remember. This is just my opinion. I’m just a weekend warrior, not a pro. I honestly like both bikes and mainly went kawi to try something different. Kawi pros: -Good suspension. I need heavier springs for my weight tho. -Great ergonomics. It feels thin -Good power curve. -hydraulic clutch Kawi cons: - the couplers for maps seem like dated technology in 2021. Yamaha pros: -great kyb suspension. Loved it. -great power curve -tuner app is cool. You can try all kinds of maps to find one you like. Yamaha cons: -the bike feels large and wide. Probably because the air box in the front. If you’ve ridden a Yamaha and like the feel, go that route. I’m not brand loyal at all. I definitely feel like Yamahas in general are bullet proof. Great quality. You can’t beat that engine with the tuner app and kyb suspension. I personally like the ergonomics on the Kawasaki more and I can live with not being able to mess with custom maps. So if I was buying a bike tomorrow, I’d buy the Kawasaki again. Good luck. Let me know what you end up getting and how you like it.

How long you have to ride the bike before you can full throttle? Do you have to brake in the engine on that bike ?
@AndrewDeVries2113 жыл бұрын
The owners manual usually gives a recommendation on heat cycles to break it in. I ride under half throttle for about 30 min. Then under 3/4 throttle for the next 30 min. Once it’s got an hour or so on it, i feel comfortable that it’s broken in

I have a yz125x and thinking about going back to a 4 stroke too. Did you sell or trade it in?
@AndrewDeVries2113 жыл бұрын
Sadly I sold it. Actually to one of the guys who commented on this post. It’s a sellers market right now with two strokes so I don’t think you’ll have trouble selling yours. It was a lot of fun for 13+ hrs. But it was a lot of work to get around the track.

did you like the kawasaki? comparing it to the Yamaha?
@AndrewDeVries2113 жыл бұрын
Ya. I like how skinny it feels compared to the Yamaha. The only negative I have to say about the Kawasaki is the mapping couplers. That seems like dated technology in 2021. I enjoyed messing around with the Yamaha tuner app.
