I know people with much larger bikes(myself included) and thoroughly enjoys this bike. It's predictable as you say, not overly powerful, but it's super flickable, easily ridable in cities and heavy traffic and just a blast in the curves. Kawasaki nailed it with this bike. Loving my 2019 Z650.

Mine is a 2019 model and it's average fuel consumption is 4.23l/100km. I prefer twisty roads and I wasn't feeling secure on stock Dunlop SportMaxtires if the road was wet. After 8.000kms I switched to Mitas Touring Force which are affordable but so much grippier and confidence inspiring. Similar tires are Metzeller Roadtec 05 and Pirelli Angel GT. Basically, those tires are going to lower the acceleration just a bit but you'll get so much more grip. However, this bike is not a racing machine. Machine is really quiet and it works nice in range from 4.000rpms to 8.000rpm. While cruising on low rpms the machine has that unique sweet quiet relaxing almost hypnotising sound. If you are taller than 6ft/182cm you should probably buy an used z650 or Yamaha mt07 which has wider bars and after 2 years switch to Versys 650 or Suzuki Vstrom 650, Yamaha Tenere 700 or Husqvarna Norden 901. It is possible to install higher seat, wider bar and a bar riser for Z650 but you must consult with professional mechanic because stock front brake, throttle and clutch hoses might be too short. For the first bike it is a great choice besides MT07 because of the linear predictable acceleration, manouverability, economic consumption, excellent manouverability, reliability, low insurance and registration costs.

You're not the only one who's not a fan of the sound. I ride a Z400 and a friend of mine said to me "how many lawns did you mow with that?"

Nice video sir. I’m more convinced to have it as my first bike. Good in city driiving as well.
@Jurica-mtb2 жыл бұрын
For city MT07 is better choice because of the wider handlebar and ergonomics it feels so much lightweight especially in tight corners.

Hi, I would recommend you a higher windshield for better protection and foam grips against nasty vibrations from the 2 cylindre motor. Other than that, it's a nice bike. I rode 8.500 km in a year.

@@robertschulz6660 I have a zero gravity corsa which helped with wind blast. Found grip puppies online. I have woodcraft clip ons so my position is more slung over then stock. City traffic is the worst but it is nice in the corners when I hang off the bike when it’s leaning over. I’m at 4500kms in three months. Thanks!! Good riding!!

I ride a 2011 Versys 650 which has the same parallel twin motor as the z650 (some minor differences). This is not my first motorcycle, but I'd feel more than comfortable starting on the 650 platform as my first bike. I have friends who started on a ninja 400 and were looking for a bigger bike the next year. Test ride both bikes and see which suits you best. Best of luck.

Z650: better quality build. Better price. Good starter bike. MT-07: more horsepower. Better wheelies. Questionable as a starter bike as it will get you in trouble if you ask it to. Fun hooligan bike at less cost than a 900 or liter bike.
