Short answer: It might work with a few adjustments to the seatpost and/or stem. Long answer: What bike are you currently riding? Or is there a bike you've ridden that fits well? Take look at the geometry chart at the bottom of the Comp page at Specialized: www.specialized.com/us/en/diverge-comp-carbon/p/175285?color=290924-175285&searchText=96220-5249 The two most important specs you want to look at are stack and reach. For a 54 the stack is 592mm and the reach is 383mm. Typically what I do when trying to decide between two sizes or, in your case, to see if the only size available would fit is to compare the stack and reach of a bike I already ride that fits well with the stack and reach of a bike I'm considering. They won't match exactly. Especially if you aren't looking at two bikes in the same category or similar geometries, but it'll get you close. When you are using bikes with very different geometries, decide what's most important to you, stack or reach and get close on that one. Within reasons, stack is always easier to play with than reach on a bike that might be a bit small for you. You can always get a longer seatpost or trim your current seatpost. It's much more difficult to play with reach. You can swap out the stem for a longer one, but if you go too long, you run the risk of changing how the bike steers. I say "within reason" because you also need to be carful with the changing the stack with a high angle stem. You can overthink this, but bike fit is really import. Good luck. Let me know what you goo with!

@Jack Ophelott that’s a good litmus, but how do you measure if you don’t have nads?

What do you think about the aluminum version of this bike: the Elite E5? Between the Scott Speedster 20 2022 Gravel Bike and the Specialized Diverge Elite E5 2021 (or 2021), which of these two bikes would do you choose?

You mention that your partner had some issues with fit on a size 54 frame. I was wondering if you could elaborate. At 5’8”, I seem to be between sizes (52-54) and debating which way to go. Just wondering if she’s around the same height and what the issues were for her.

I’m in between sizes at 5’6” myself. I could’ve made the 54 work but it was just too wide up front for a comfortable hand position. Betting at 5’8” you’d be okay. The 52 might even feel a bit cramped for you. Hope that helps. I’m curious to see how you feel once you ride on whichever you go with! It’s hard to find that perfect size. Good luck! -Kate

@@GreatEgretAdventure Awesome! Thank you for your perspective. It’s definitely hard to get the right fit, especially when you can’t really try out a bike before buying it these days. I’ll take that into account and let you know how it turns out.
