Back in the day, my dream bike would have been Battaglin like Roche used to ride. What's your dream bike, past or present?

I have a Madone from 3 years ago, the last of the rim brakes. I love it! A little on the heavy side but, it's an aero bike and not a climber but, neither am I a climber. I also have a 52/34 chain set, it gives me the speed on the flat and a little bit more assistance with those pesky climbs. My local Trek dealer has that exact bike in the shop and I am seriously tempted but, with 3 other bikes I'm running out of space. Great looking bike and a good revue.

Maaaan I've been waiting for this one! Very very nice indeed mate! Looks like you ordered it at the right time last year before the supply chain went to ****
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
Well it took a month and a half and 9 different suppliers from around Europe (those that would shop to the U.K...) to get the parts - I reckon all in all it took about 4 days of research to find the parts and order them. It’s chaos mate..!

Great setup ... I actually also just upgraded from an early 2000s trek 5000 to the new madone SL6... Got an immediate speed boost and it's been a real joy ... Running 28 c tubeless though and that's crazy comfy ... Wouldve gone for your bike if money wasn't an issue but for now I'm super happy with mine as I'm sure you will be with yours... I was worried about abc aero bike being stiff but for my riding ... 35-60 miles I've come back super relaxed and comfortable each time... Anyways ... I hope your as happy with your purchase these are wonderful machines!

Oh ... And fyi ... I also moved to a left sided power meter ( garmin) and it's read a significant amount lower even compared to my cycleops trainer which is reading after drive train losses ... I think that's just the name of the game if your stronger leg is on the right...

SL6 is a wicked bike and no mistake!! Glad you’re finding it as good as I am - it’s a beauty! As for the single sided PM - I’ve got a couple of PM’s that read single sided - the 4iii seems to read lower than all - but consistently..!!

Hi, Can you share more on the actual mounting for your Garmin and 360 Cam - has same bike and looking for same setup.. Any links and details would be appreciated.
@1stElement2 жыл бұрын
Hiya - yep sure - so it’s the Trek Blendr mount direct to the handlebar with the Garmin mount on top - this is the duo mount: www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equipment/cycling-components/blendr-integration/blendr-bases/bontrager-madone-handlebar/stem-blendr-duo-base/p/25908/?colorCode=black Then underneath is one of these mounted: amzn.to/3OwdEbV to extend the go pro mount further away under the Garmin Then this is at the end to thread the 360° camera on: amzn.to/3U2n40b It’s slightly refined now to what in this video but I’ve been using this set up for some time now and it’s full proof I use stem bolts with loctite on the threads to secure the go pro mounts to the blender mount - and I do have a little thin zip tie I use between the go pro arm and the arm of the Garmin mount just as extra security. Hope that helps? Send me vids when you’ve done it!!!

Great video man! Where can I get that slick 360 camera mount?
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! The link to it is in the description actually! The metal mount - there’s an Amazon affiliate link to it (that means I get £0.000001 kick back or something but it doesn’t cost you any more..!) - thanks for the compliment though!

I am a huge fan of the Madone and the Trek Segafredo paint scheme you went with. Some day I want to build one of the Kamtail Madone’s. I agree I love these dang machines and think if you can afford it ride what you love. I currently have a cannondale synapse that I built with SRAM AXS love it, and I’m just finishing my upgrade on my Triathalon bike Diamondback Serious to SRAM 1x AXS I got to choose everything on it so is pretty much my dream bike at the moment.

@@1stElement i will get you a picture of my TT bike soon, trying to score her a me disc shoe this week. So I’m not going to show her off until then, you how important first impressions are. Ha ha. And heel yes I was thinking about it the Madone is the bike that brought World tour cycling to the US as Armstrong assaulted the peloton in the mid 90’s I can’t say much good about the man any more but I definitely drank the cool aide at that time

Thanks - I’m 182cm and ride a 56 or 58 in Trek - the 56 fit me better for the Madone

Will be interesting to see what you think of the 4iiii power meter long term.
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
So far it’s been consistent JB - and that’s all I need - I’ve been able to alter the baseline to make it comparable to my other PM’s using the app and DC Rainmakers comparison tools. So far, so acceptable..!
@jonathanbale64783 жыл бұрын
Been thinking about the dual sided version as it has a reputation for not been affected by the Shimano right side crack issues. But a bit of a mute point as no one has any stock in a 165mm crank length.
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
Ah you ride 165mm’s! I see - yep - I might be tempted to get the drive side too at some point towards the winter..!
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
On another note - what about G in the final there..?!?
@jonathanbale64783 жыл бұрын
Loved the commentary “looks like G has been drooped from this group” then a little bit latter “no he’s attached”! Strong ride but a shame about the crash with 30m to go. I think his hand was just too cold and he pulled it off the bar. Think he’s still favourite going into the final TT.

great video, does the 4iii power meter on the non-drive side scratch against the chainstays or does it have enough clearance?
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
Thank you - no, on my bike there’s plenty of clearance - I can see how that might be an issue of some chain stay designs though...

@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
The Mount itself is attached to the Garmin computer mount which is part of the Madone handlebar - so - attached to that is the short go pro bar I linked to and then on the end of that is a small GoPro/thread adapter - like this: amzn.to/3AQo2nq Make sure you buy a metal one, plastic ones will snap after a couple rides - not nice seeing your 360° camera skidding away on the floor..!
@globetotters68023 жыл бұрын
Great video thinking of upgrading from my Specialized Allez Elite to a Madone. Made the Allez feel like a brick when I test rode it. Great spot for the 360 camera but if you place it there then where are you mounting a headlight? Also where does the Bluetooth mount for thr di2? I’m looking at an SLR 7 but don’t think the Bluetooth is standard. 🍻
@1stElement3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yep, it’s like climbing out of a Ford and hoping in a Ferrari, isn’t it..! Ok - headlight wise, I use a Fabric Lumaray light that sits under my Garmin - if I need a strong light at night I’d use something else but it would be too dark for the camera anyway, so would swap the mounts over. No, I don’t think the Bluetooth di2 connection is standard - but it’s easy to add - it can go anywhere within the cable matrix, so you’d just need the Bluetooth Di2 dongle and a short Di2 cable. My guess the easiest place to add it is under the Dow tube bottle cage access panel where the battery is clipped. Keep me posted - would love to know how you get on!!

in case of traveling, how do you pack the cockpit? do you completely disassemble the handlebar?
@1stElement2 жыл бұрын
That’s an excellent question - I was going to need to find out this summer to go to France but the plans have changed… I’m assuming yes - pop the whole cockpit off - the di2 and hydraulic cables go through the headset, so it could be fun…! I might ask the Trek Bristol team about it../
