This is a perfect description. I have an RS 660 and Ive tried out the Tuono 660. I was smiling the whole time... Aprilia really nailled this platform. What a fantastic bike nothing comes in close and Ive rode almost all of the 2021/22 street bikes.

The h2 and r is not a 21/22 platform. However I have rode it and its not as good as the RS/Tuono 660 in terms of thrills. Comparing them is like riding a fast rock vs riding a bicycle. The 660 platform feels like a mountain bike, it so light and so agile its like your riding an unreasonably fast and advanced 300cc bike. Sure if you like high numbers in a straight line I think the H2 will better scratch that need.

@DarkInovator

@@dry509 I did but only for about an hour as a test drive. The gsx s1000 is imo the worst naked/super naked you can buy. I wrote it off the list as soon as I got off it. Its no wonder there are rumors that Suzuki is closing down there motorcycle division. Its cheap but its really really bad value. Its heavy and technologically retarded, now it can be fun just like any other bike but ... thats the problem. You can buy something like a MT09 that's better IMO. If both bikes are stock the mt09 a much better value its got similar power response until you reach speeds that you can't really maintain on a naked for too long and its got a far more advanced technological package. Its sad but I'd put the gsx s1000 as a in between the 900 and liter bikes, in a spot where there really is no reason to buy anything ...

This is probably the Tuono everybody should ride but few will buy because their ego will have a hard time justifying to their friends that it "only" has 98hp. But I think that kind of power is perfect for public roads since you can use the entire RPM range.

I just test rode the base Tuono 660 yesterday. It's probably the most fun and comfortable sporty bike I've ever ridden. I think I'll buy one to go with my Moto Guzzi V85TT. V85TT is like the small SUV or pickup and the Tuono is like the affordable sports car that's still comfortable to ride. Seat was great, quick shifter was so nice to have, very light, great power and brakes.

Great video. A friend of mine bought the "stars and stripes" edition. We went out for a memorial day ride. He felt that it would be fitting. Since it was stars and stripes lol and the bike spit oil over the place. Had about 32 miles on it. Needless to say he was not happy. Covered him in oil from his knees down. Luckily he wasn't hurt. And he nursed the bike back home where the dealer came and picked it up the next day to see what had happened. Aprilia had problems with this engine last year. My friend had heard about this on the internet forums but took a chance. So knowing this he took out all kinds of extra warranties on the bike. The bike is still at the shop and Aprilia is sending the parts to fix it up new. On a new bike!!!!!! So a word to the wise.

@@Rob-tl9md I was wondering the same thing. So I asked him and he said that he does not trust Italian bikes. He loves um. He's had several of them. And I mean several....... more than 9 or 10 at this point. Over the last 10 years. He says it's always something with them. And he had seen on the forums that there were all kinds of problems with the Aprilia 660. But he bought it anyway. He was hoping that they had fixed said issues on the 2nd yr run..... NOPE.... same shit. But the dealer in Charlotte did the right thing. They got the parts from Aprilia and the bike is now "fixed" 😳. Oil leak, the spline on the gear shifter which was about to come off and the swing arm bearings. The bike has less than a 100 miles on it. So we shall see how "fixed" it is. It's funny we were on a bike ride about 2 wks aftr every thing happened with the Aprilia (he was riding his 2021 S1000XR) and we saw a guy on the side of the road with a 660 the bike was pissing oil. The guys son was behind him in a car and it looks like he had brought him a qt of oil to put in the bike . SMH. Go figure 🤔. So buyers beware 😏. To be forewarned is to be fore-armed.

One of the most sold naked is the MT 09: at the beginning it seemed that only the engine was worse… Thanks to the forums. The first tracer 09 didn’t even had the handle bar placed in the correct position Tons of 1200 GS with the cardan litterally broken in pieces. The first Yamaha Fazer 1000 had problems with the chassis that broke… ( do you possibly understand how dangerous???) The list is immense and it involves every manufacturer. I have 80.000 Km on my Ducati and never had one problem! I have roughly 35.000 on my MotoMorini and never a problem. And two KTM that spent more time at the mechanic than under my butt…. @jonnybegood4848
@jonnybegood4848 2 жыл бұрын
I've owned the Husky version of the KTM 690 and it's power-to-weight ratio yields real joy. KTM markets it's 7 & 890 twins as scalpels but I expect our 690cc's are sharper, the other two with more power thrown in. I actually owned a new SuperDuke briefly but dumped it at a great loss after being so fed up with unresolved mechanical issues. I went with a smooth & fun bike after that, the MT-10 which pretty much hit the nail on the head for me except for it's consistently awful gas mileage figures: never more that in the 29's and I can get in the 24 mpg range on occasion. With gas prices today, I'm considering a KTM 790 or 890 but oh! the 790 I rode at a dealer test ride had a brutal suspension over rougher pavements and I just couldn't imagine enjoying it when just wanting to ride & chill . . . vs. Ready-to-Race all the time. The 690 can chill if one wants. So yeah! You're right about light weight being a secret weapon in the experience of cycling.

I always saw this bike as needing to be categorized as a expensive 650. To me this is the most expensive and powerful bike in that category not the cheaper less powerful mt09 competitor. I can see including both on the chart but maybe it’s just striking me because I’ve never look at this bike through this lens I’ve always heard it more compared to the 650’s because it literally is a 650. The mt09 and 890 etc have a ton over this and yet not THAT much more to show. having said that thank you because you just give me a different sort of way to frame this bike that I never even considered. This is a rare bike that almost defies the charting as it’s not budget but it’s nowhere near as well endowed as the performance chart bikes. I see how you put it there because if it’s price I just never really considered that and somehow this simultaneously makes it easier for me to consider buying this bike and harder because now I have to consider for a more powerful entire displacement bikes that are at a similar price. In that way it’s somewhat similar to a MV Augusta with the conundrum it presents me, do I want a absolute top of the line 650 that is high priced for 650s but with features and build quality no other 650 can boast and that better compares to the next class up performance wise, or do I want a farmore powerful and higher displacement “performance“ middleweight that gives you much more for your dollar but sort of put you at the bottom of the pack as far as the 8 to 900cc bikes go, if that makes any sense. And that way it’s sort of like the M3 if it’s segment it’s the most you can make of a bike with this size and motor capacity etc. but it’s a bit expensive so you could buy car that could do a whole lot more performance wise for the same price but it won’t be as well rounded. I still love this bike and I think sadly I leave this video with the same conclusion, I’ve gotta wait a bit and look for it on the used market But if you’ve got the cash I wouldn’t feel bad at all buying this over and an mt09 For example

Pretty much right, this bike compared to the MT09 has better quality/suspensions/brakes etc...etc.. but the Yamaha engine is far superior, the Tuono needs an 800cc engine to unleash all its potential,imho.

LOL! It's really the most fun I've had on a middleweight naked. But last week I was talking to the Aprilia sales guys at the 2 different dealerships that I work with and they both said that the 660 motor is having some quality issues, some times they have to just replace the motor, one guy had his motor replaced, under warranty of course, in the first month of ownership. So I hope you get a good motor and don't have to deal with that. If you do, please leave some feedback and your personal experience with the bike, good or bad. take care and enjoy the bike, Scott

Yes I felt almost the same when I tested the 660 RS which is more appealing to me from a design and aesthetic point of view, but I think that the 660 Tuono is pretty similar to the aprillia 660 RS. The applause on the electronics of the Aprillia from your part is a significant appreciation for the Brand. Because it means that finally they got it right, after many years of difficulties trying to make a credible name on the Market. What about general construction quality? Is it any good? What do you think? Be well and ride safe too ✌️✌️

Thanks again. I have given the Aprilia a good test rideand yes it has real character! Plenty of go and somehow it is on rails stable despite being flicakble. A couple of gripes. I found the suspension hard on a bad back road. I guess a liitle less preload and slower the rebound would fix that. Second the rear sets are unusual and the bit of palstic suck on the right swing arm looks like an after thought and not permenqnt. I guess I could buy after market rear sets. Finally where is neutral now?. Very hard to find. A lite touch down from second seemed to work. The quick shifter up is really great but down you need to watch what you do or it is rough. However the issue for me is 826 mm seat height. I have short legs and really 800 is my comfortable max. So if I buy this bike I am on tip toes and need to scoot my butt to one side ot the other to be fully stable at reast. Has me thinking again. Comments ? But so much character in the bike, its growl etc. you feel like a hooligan riding qround town at 50kph! And it looks drop dead georgous!

Interesting to know the Tuono would be chosen ahead of the Streetfighter. Although if getting to chose between either as a giveaway bike... chose the Streetfighter, sell it, and have cash left over after buying a Tuono! 🏍 💰 👍

How do you think this bike compares to the KTM Duke 790? I’m looking for a fun and performance oriented middle weight naked and cross-shopping these models. As good as new 2020 790 Dukes are available for about €8500 while this goes for €12000 in NL. These bikes seem quite similar to me, but what do you think given that you tested them both?

Quick question, i am looking for my second bike next year after a year of experience from my honda 500f and im n between the factory and a yamaha mt09 what would you recommend if you would have to choose between these two. Is the tuono as fun as the mt09 or would you say this is as long as fun as the little more powerful mt09 after a few more years experience. Would be cool to hear your guys input

I’m a beginner rider looking for my first bike and I get scared I’m going to get an engine that I’ll grow out of too fast, it seems that the motorcycle community is just obsessed with numbers instead of just riding lol. If I want to just cruise and ride will this engine be fine? I’m not looking to do track days or race anything lol.
@NothingToProve

Yea, numbers just tell us about what to expect in a bike, after that it's all about what the rider wants in a bike. You won't grow out of this bike "too fast", I've been riding for over 30 years and I find this bike very entertaining and in fact I wanted my wife to get this as her first bike that I can ride it for fun when I'm alone but she chose the Triumph Trident instead. take care, Scott

What’s the long term impressions of this bike, I’ve yet to see a review of how well these bikes hold up over the course of the years they have been out. Considering buying one and don’t want to get something that’s going to spend more time in the shop than on the road.

Well, this model just came out, the base last year well, the end of last year depending on your country, so that maybe the reason you have not seen a "years" long review of this bike. 😥 The RS version of this you probably can because that came out at the beginning of last year.

Hi, really nice review! i'm really undecided between the tuono 660 factory and the triumph street triple rs. Which one do you recommend to me?
@NothingToProve
@NothingToProve 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you are looking for in a bike. Performance wise, they are very similar but the RS has 20+ more HP and is a serious track day weapon. The Factory will do everything the RS can do except with less power and is not so serious about being technical on the track. This is why I'd take the Tuono over the RS (my serious track days are over), it's not so serious about life, it wants to play and not be serious...about anything but will keep up with the RS in a corner, it's just that the RS will pull away from it down the straight. Good luck with picking! Scott

I have just watched your review of the Honda CB750. A bike was waiting for and would have bought 12 months ago. Sounds great. The 660 Factory costs 21% more in our country. Worth it if you have the money?

Two different feelings I get from the two bikes. The Hornet feeling is solid, stable, secure. The Tuono 660 feeling is fun, sharp, quick, oh and did I say fun! The Tuono to this day, even when I see this thumb nail, puts a (9 year old boy) grin on my face, the Hornet does not. Hornet is the kind of girl you'd like to take home to meet mom and marry. The Tuono is the kind of girl you don't tell anyone about but continue to have fun with her every time, that's the kind of grin I'm talking about 😁👍 So, is it worth it, depends on how much money you have and how much fun (money) you are willing to pay for 🤷‍♂️☺

Just depressing, they could make low seat options but they don’t. Sort of discriminates against short people and especially Women. Surely from the get go bikes should be designed so people of all shapes and sizes so those who wish to participate in the pleasure of biking can do so. Don’t know, I’m a designer, an engineer and for me people come first, I’m even beginning to question if it’s a discrimination/human rights issue, bike companies excluding certain sections of society from being able to ridetheir bikes.

I've had my Tuono 660 since March. I like it so much that I consider it my smaller sports tourer. It's not a buzz bomb, turns just less than 5000 rpms at 80. I've bought the SW-Motech saddlebags and their tail bag. It's perfect. And just for a basis of comparison, I also own a BMW R1250RT. I almost got a Ducati Supersport but this just felt better. I've had Ducatis before and love them too.

I have the V4 version and believe me it is naked...not because of the faring but because everything but your gut it propped way above it with those handle bars. Covered in bug guts every day to prove it. Switch bars to clip ons and yes, it's not naked...agreed. V4 is really too much power for that body position but they don't let you test ride around here. Would rather have went with the 660 Tuano or full blown RSV4.
