One thing I noticed while watching this back was look how happy Rob Kearney is at 26:43 when Luke hits the winning lift for the log. They're competitors in this competition and Rob was right up the top of the table, and he was still genuinely thrilled for Luke to make that winning lift. The comradery and sportsmanship in Strongman is second to none, as well as Rob just being such a standup guy.

I think its nothing but logical that the Arnolds Strongman Classic is slowly becoming the main competition in strongman. Always heavy Events that really seperate the competitors, big prize money and a way better broadcast than wsm

Shaw's competition Strongest Man on Earth is equally good in my opinion. WSM was good for so many years but too much emphasis on speed. I like the max static events here.

Novikov’s technique on the dumbbell press is just spectacular. The way he almost acts like a spring in his leg to cushion the weight at the top. I think if all the competitors applied this technique then we would get some crazy results in this event.
@amanginha68382 жыл бұрын
this is not true power, but only cheat about power, where is his power in stone to shoulder

@lennyganado39752 жыл бұрын
@@amanginha6838 Put the object above your head. That is the mission. He drops under the weight to catch it, because he is smart. Should we expect the athletes to use no legs at all? Maybe do the event seated even?
@danielmontesdeoca70272 жыл бұрын
I dont think other athletes can apply that technique sadly, Novikov is leaner and smaller so is easier for him to isolate the movement of his hips. Someone like Shaw, Caron or Thor wouldnt be able to tilt the hips to provide that spring like movement.
@gabrokkerhun2 жыл бұрын
Shame to see that Caron got injured, guy is one of the most consistently well performing strongman in history.

Wow finally the competition we all wanted! The weights are heavy af, and the line up is all rockstars. WSM has it's place, but it's all too light for my taste. Max squat and max log and I was already sold. Fantastic showing for a lot of the guys too. Stoltman's log, JF on the squat, and Licis on the stones were all pretty awesome to see. Novikov put on a hell of a show as well, as expected.

My favorite back squat for max weight was 1981 WSM. Bill Kazmaier defeated Dave waddington with a squat nearly 1,000 lb raw. That is still one of the most impressive feats of leg strength ever done. It always pains me when I see how some strongmen care SO MUCH about wsm, to the point that they even ignore other wins. WSM is only relevant due to inertia, from tradition or whatever. This competition was way more brutal. I die a little when in WSM you have someone finish 10th because he carried a freaking car tire 4.3 seconds slower then the event winner or whatever.
