@@racesuey No it exist because Cadillac first created the CTS V-Sport with the LF3. The goal was the create that in between the regular CTS and the full on V to compete with the M lite, S (instead of RS) Audi, and the AMG lite cars. Then, Cadillac took the LF3 and tweaked it some internally with better turbos to create the LF4 for the ATS-V and now the CT4-V. The LF3 died off with the 2019 CTS V-Sport.

Everytime a new car is track tested and put onto the list, I keep balking at the fact that the SS 1LE is way higher than it has any right to be. Haha thats a big reason a manual 2SS 1le is my dream car. It has insanely high skidpad/cornering grip, fantastic chassis engineering & performance, and its a true drivers car. But I love that they actually went through it, even adding diff & trans coolers (along w/ all the other upgrades) to make it a serious track ready car. Not just an appearance package. But no matter which track it is, the SS & Zl1 1le's always punch far above their price. At Laguna Seca, the stick, 455hp, 3750lb SS 1le is faster than a 730hp, DCT, 3500lb Ferrari F12.. along with many other $150k+ supercars. 🤘 🇺🇸

For me, I also needed a car that could do Family Duties somewhat easily, and the CT4-V Blackwing is *that* car. The Caddy is 95% of the fun of the m2, with so much more practicality. I've driven both. Alfa Quad has more characterful engine/exhaust and that sweet sharp steering ratio and reasonably good chassis to support it. That being said, CT4-V's chassis was just touch better, both ride and stability while having decent turn in. You also get actual brake feel and modulation. Also you get better steering feel. Imo, CT4-V BW is much better car and while Quad QV is much more characterful, quality of driving in CT4-V BW is so much better as you apporach limit.

@MattNukem they're track focused sports sedans, a ZR1 is a daily driver if you want it to be. It's a fact the PS4S tire isn't up to par for the car's power. I own a CT5-V Blackwing with a 10 speed and the Cup 2 tires I bought transformed it. I can brake later, accelerate sooner, and hold corners better. An alternate option would be to give it the OEM widebody treatment with 3in wider fenders kinda in the same style as the Corvette Stingray vs Z06. Subtle yet muscular curves that go with the car design. That way you could fit 285w front tires and 335w rears like the Corvette.

The new m3 rwd manual Va ct4 v black wing is a fair comparison even when modding and I’d still choose it over the g series. The driving dynamic is just very different and feels more engaging in the caddy. Yes the interior is nicer on the BMW but it’s also around 20k more when optioned out. I wonder how interesting a twin turbo V6 designed off the 5.5L LT6 from the C8 Z06 would have been for this car. It would be an opportunity to make a motor possibly as special, capable and interesting as the B58.

Isn't the IS500 F sport sort of a competitor to this? I'm sure the Blackwing excels at the track compared to the IS500 but I seeing they have similar horsepower and the IS has a big 5.0 N/A V8 I figured they might actually be good competitors to each other?

I think you mean LT2. LS3 would have been for the ATS-V. I'm guessing the reason neither car got the NA small block was emissions requirements. I would buy an LT2-powered CT4-V Blackwing without hesitation. M2-sized, great chassis, smart E-diff, good manual, somewhat of a sleeper with an NA V8? Hell yes.

Having owned both a 2017 Chevy SS with 6MT and now a CT4V Blackwing with 6MT I would take the blackwing every time and twice on Tuesday. I like it so much more than the SS. Yes, the SS sounded great, but the Blackwing doesn't sound bad... and it is so much better in so many ways.

The SS only came here because the Holden plant that builds Commodores in Australia was going to shutdown soon and they had extra supply to build some cars. They rebadged it as the Chevy SS. It was never marketed because it was simply there to fill a gap in time until Holden was shutdown.

@@ollyvoxx V8 (LTx) weighs more, is larger, and would move the center of gravity farther over the front axle. Speaking from experience... I daily an ATS-V and track an SS 1LE. Same chassis but vastly different handling characteristics owing to the TT V6 being very close to a mid-front engine platform. They are both great cars though.

Took Cadillac how long to engineer cars that feel like a 2005 bimmer? Clearly Germany is way ahead

Having driven BMWs from the mid-1990s to the mid-2010s, it would be nice if *BMW* could engineer a car that feels like a 2005 bimmer. If Cadillac has done that, they have made a vastly superior car, as far as driving feel goes. I was given a new BMW loaner every time I brought my 2008 335i (six speed manual) in to be serviced. Every time, I couldn't wait to get my old car back because it actually had steering feel. I did not want a luxurious computer, I wanted a car that did car things really well. BMW *used to* do that.

Talk to the ATS-V Folks! They'll tell you how much they love their cars even 100k in! The engine & turbos do well, the suspension was iffy, but the new 4.0 magneride seems much more robust than the 3.0 in the ATS-V.
