@phasmata3813 2 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellsteindler Let me be clear: I don't HATE the new Blazer. I think it is a mediocre CUV, but my problem is the pandering hyper-marketty way they decided to exploit a name which has a certain history and meaning (Blazer) to be used on yet another mediocre CUV. It's all so sterile and corporate. If I have any other issue with the Blazer, it isn't that it's not a guzzly off-roaders but that it just isn't a better vehicle in general. It is so mediocre. In a market full of CUVs from a brand with plenty of mediocre CUVs already, why pump-out another dud of a CUV instead of putting some effort into making it better in some way. Nothing about the Chevy Blazer makes it the smart choice over multiple better CUV option other than if someone just really LOVES the styling for some specific reason. Its existence seems so pointless and wasteful.

Obviously much of the work with drive modes, vehicle specifics, etc is manufacturer made but the baseline is similar to how Google distributes Android to phone manufacturers. Physical? Where are the switches? A button can't be a switch because a button isn't a switch but a button isn't a button when the button is a screen. Im just saying if I'm paying 100,000 I'd want actual phsical switches not non-buttons on a screen. I'm talking about the aux buttons on the screen. The climate control switches are switches and I like those.
@rars0n
@rars0n 2 жыл бұрын
"I hope more cars do this instead of adhering so vehemently to touch screens." I sure hope not. What a terrible design. I actually think they're worse than touchscreen-only controls (and I absolutely hate touchscreen controls). Having physical buttons that constantly change functions defeats the point of having physical buttons in the first place. Drivers should be able to access commonly used features without looking at them or only glancing briefly at them. If you accidentally push the wrong button, now the other buttons have changed their function and you have to actually think about which button to hit in order to change them back so that you can hit the correct button instead, which takes all of your attention off the road. It doesn't help that they're all the same buttons lined up in a row. There's no consideration for spacing the buttons out in a logical order or giving them unique shapes, they just all look and feel exactly the same (good luck finding the fourth button from the left just by feel). I would be totally aggravated if my HVAC controls were arranged in straight line like that. Economy cars from the 90's had better designed controls than this. It also adds a second step to adjusting something simple that only requires a single button in other cars. Like to turn on the seat heater, you first hit the seat button and then have to move your finger over and hit the heater button. It's incredibly stupid, if you ask me. This is clearly a feature designed for people who buy things because they're shiny and look cool, and not because they are good designs.
@darkairieal
@darkairieal 2 жыл бұрын
@@rars0n I think you're right about that line of hvac controls being too similar to index quickly (like the row of buttons below them has dividers that a finger could rest on and count across) However having two "steps" to change controls can be done with two fingers in quick succession as a single motion. Like entering a keypad code it would become muscle memory for drivers without ever taking their eyes off the road.
@rars0n

GM is separating the running lights/turn signals and the actual headlight unit in many of its models (Blazer, Trailblazer, Equinox, Enclave, among others). Having the lights lower to the ground provides better visibility and helps their headlights earn a better safety rating from the IIHS. Between this and Ford, been waiting for the original big 3 to start flexing. They have not disappointed. Looks great. In terms of price, I'd be lucky to test drive one in my lifetime 😆

Yeah the Ford Mach E performance version that can’t handle max power for more than 5 seconds and is slower than an F-150 around a track is really impressive.

Flexing with prototypes is a far cry than delivering at scale to the market. These PR stunts are nothing more than that.

I am surprised you didn't mention the 8 lug nuts situation. Not very common in vehicles this size. -love your reviews as always. Big fan.

I personally not big on pickups. Frankly, I hate this trend. But I must say. The sheer number of features in this car is blowing my mind. GM really went all in for this one. They thought of everything!!!

This is essentially a pre-production prototype vehicle. Doug even calls it a prototype. Doug gets clicks. GM gets free press.

“I may have heard Doug say “GOOD TO SEE” on four occasions during this episode- from now onward, i’ll make it a habit of tracking how many times he utters “GOOD TO SEE” when referring to an automobile’s salient feature- GTS(GOOD TO SEE) is a significant metric- the more the merrier.”

GM should have put the automatic tire inflation system as an option, the old Hummer H1 had it and people would have paid for it, such a wasted opportunity

They obviously have an air compressor on the truck already, surely they must have thought about it.

@@sevensynycal6411 I meant thought about CTIS...because they have a compressor already for the air suspension. And as you know Hummers in the past had it as well. They must have a reason for not doing it though or maybe sometime down the road they will have it.

@@ZboeC5 ah I understand, I assume maybe its because they couldn’t have the crab walk feature with portal axles installed with the CTIS
@ZboeC5
@ZboeC5 2 жыл бұрын
@@sevensynycal6411 Yeah, there has to be a reason. There is no way GM did all that and didn't even think about CTIS. Then again it may be just money as this thing is still cheaper than the original H1 was when it came out for the civilian market. Old H1s were rich people toys costing as much as $140,000. Back when that was still a lot of money.
