Hatchback, always! Although I'd say the hatch is raked enough on the Civic to call it a "liftback", which is the perfect compromise between a hatcbach and sedan rendering the sedan superfluous.

Why compromise when they could have made a real sedan and a real, boxy hatchback?

Rear on the hatch is also more nicely designed. Looks + functional + available MT = win. Prices have gone bonkers though. My '11 Accord coupe I4 5AT had a $29K CAD MSRP. Sure, it doesn't have Honda Sensing but VSA is all the safety tech I really need. Also, issues with AEB on newer Honda's I am sure not missing

Sportback. A liftback doesn’t traditionally include the rear portion down to the bumper.
@Wilhem275
@Wilhem275 2 жыл бұрын
@@xp50player There are two separate definitions for the shape and the function. A sloping roofline is traditionally a fastback, which becomes a Kammback if the tail is cut vertically (Sportback is just Audi's marketing). Liftback is if the window opens up together with the trunk lid, no matter what the shape of the car. In the past there were liftback sedans or also non-liftback fastbacks (very impractical). This Civic is a fastback, cut enough to be considered a Kammback, and also happens to be a liftback.

The shithead Honda dealers near me are jacking the price up $3,000 over MSRP, just because they can. This car is awesome, I'd be happy to own one. But that kind of gauging is a non-starter and places it outside of my budget. If I find a place that sells it to me for MSRP, I may very well trade in my Mustang for one. If the sticker label didn't have cvt trans written on it nobody would know the difference. they are so smooth. such light packaging and less moving parts. its a marvel of engineering and other brands failures in the cvt playing field is not honda's problem. they nailed it the first try.

Hi! Yeah, the Civic Si is lame when you compare it to the Civic Type R. The Si is a simple no-thrill manual trans-stick shift and not much fun to drive. The 2022 Accord was the last year to get the nice 2.0 Turbo Touring, before that was the Accord V6 which was awesome. The Civic choices are limited to Touring sedan and the very nice Type R. I was not able to obtain a 2022 Accord 2.0T Touring since only could find dealers out of state and refused to sell as only sold to those in the state. I require more headroom than the Civic could provide but bought a 2022 Civic Touring for my wife. I got myself a 2023 Toyota XSE V6 fully loaded and have no regrets. Honda vehicles have the aggravating and worthless Idle-Stop and very glad not to deal with it. Also, Toyota Camry handles, drives, and is comfortable like the 2022 Accord but the Camry cabin is much quieter. I get many compliments with the 2 tone Supersonic Red/Midnight Black. I tell people it's just a Camry with a flashy and sporty paint job but they say it is still impressive.
@1anre
@1anre 9 ай бұрын
@richscott2483 doubt your camry will give anything close to the Si's excitement and packed ton of features which the camry lacks. There's also no lineage or following on your camry whether an XSE or not, you didn't even buy the TRD that could be manageable. - The Si has its community & dedicated following. Next time get the car that ticks all the real boxes for a real car guy

I currently have a 2015 Honda Civic Si sedan. I’m looking for more room(hatchback), better gas mileage, and AWD. The new civics are very nice but don’t have any opinions for AWD. There's no doubt about it that the 11th generation has a more upscale look and an improved interior. The Hatchback has more advantages with more cargo space and better handling. I also believe that the Hatchback has a better look. When you drop down to a lower trim like the regular sport you are getting a 2.0 engine that has alot less power. I currently have a 21 Civic sport hatchback that I am leasing. When my lease comes up, I will look to purchase the hatchback touring so I get all the bells 🔔 and whistles! The Civic still remains one of the best if not the best in the compact segment. I really enjoyed the 21 Civic hatchback sport as it's always enjoyable to drive 🚗! My friend had a 1997 2 door civic coupe in high school and he never changed the oil. Tires were bald, and it had a fartcan exhaust. But it’d drive forever on 5 bucks of gas. Really great car for a kid. These new Civics have changed so much over the years from what they were. I sat in a new Civic at the auto show last month and I’d never call the seats comfortable. They definitely were designed to sculpt to the body and hold it in place. But I find the seats extremely firm with no plushness or give to them. Why does every talk trash on CVT transmissions? CVT is the future! Traditional gear transmissions is old-school technology. It's heavy, slow at shifting, and prone to breaking down. In the interest of reliability I would pick the entry level non turbo engine vs the 1.5T which here in USA never got recalled with the oil dilution problem (details available at Consumer reports). However if you ignore that the 1.5T with CVT is not bad if you turn off traction control. I do like the old 5 speed or may be Honda will use the newer 10 speed on the Civic. Haven't driven the manual I bet it would be by far better than the CVT.
@ac3shi6h
@ac3shi6h 2 жыл бұрын
The oil dilution problem stems from 2 things. 1. Engine (during break in) didn't get hot enough to properly seat piston rings, mostly due to people driving less than a few miles so the engine never got warm. 2. predominantly in colder states (due to issue 1). I own a CRV and traded in my 2020 civic sport, both with 1.5t's and live in the PCNW, never had an issue due to properly "driving" my cars enough for the engine to heat / cool. Honda also issued a software update early 2017 that supposed to help warm the engine quicker. I had 2 people talk to me about the issue with oil dillution, both literally drove their cars less then 3 miles before turning off the engine. One friend took my advice and drive her CRV 1200 miles to CA and after she came back, no more issues. However, the other did the same thing, and didn't solve it.. My advice, if you want the 1.5t, make sure you drive it until warmed up before turning off the engine. I am doing so with my new 2022 civic T, just to make sure.

As Honda gets ready to replace the 3rd gen Insight with a 4th gen Insight, or a Civic Hybrid, whichever path they choose, the main thing Honda should do with their next compact hybrid is make it a liftback. Love this vehicle. Been trying to find a dealer who'll sell me one at MSRP. No luck so far. I'm afraid this is the new business model for dealerships. Keep inventory as low as possible and charge whatever you want for the car.

1:39 The production run on these look too similar, I could see if they eliminated that triangular window on the hatchback and yeah okay it changes the car's rear column. Honda really did a mystery choice l here as it is redundant almost to the point one or the other was not needed.

I wanted a standard soooooo bad when I bought my new civic. But I was in a time crunch and really needed a vehicle or I was stuck with an expensive rental for who knows how long. I ended up in a CVT sport touring. I’m actually really impressed with it. I honestly can’t tell it’s CVT, unless I really push it and it holds the rpm’s in such a weird way haha

Nah, the sedan looks way better, but I would probably still go with the hatch only because of the extra cargo capacity. Oh and the wheels also look better on the sedan.

@@Truthseeker71 different tastes, for different audiences. They don't sell sedans in Europe... Sedans are dead here for most brands. I think because SUVs have taken over practically the whole market place, sedans just look awkward in comparison now... Like a car with a trunk seems almost unnatural in design. I think it depends on your conditioning. But I find the sedan here has a very bland rear design, some kind of boring early 2000s architecture.

Hatchback!!! I switched from sedan to hatchback! Very easy to load things in the trunk. It's cheap version of SUV with better handling. The only downside is you will get blind by other SUV's crappy shitt ass LED at night!

It's funny how it seems that no one ever notices on Honda's that the plastic bumpers and the body of the car don't match. Every time I see one, the first thing I see is the color shade difference between the plastic and the metal parts of the car. It seems really odd for such a great brand, especially when I don't see it anywhere else.

With the Civic, night&day diffrence with Manual vs CVT. Dynamically, my 10th Gen is better then the 11th Gen, but interior of 11th is a home run. Other then utility for Hatchback, biggest factor (vs Sedan) is Alliston assembly plant, which makes the most reliable cars in the world (I'd put the Canadian assembly plant above the Japanese). For track performance, I'd pit my base GenX 6MT Sedan over current Si, which is why i'm not going to upgrade for a long while (and Type-R is too expensive).
@UKEntomology
@UKEntomology 2 жыл бұрын
Why do you think the 10th is more dynamic? I'm not arguing... I have a 10th gen 6mt hatchback which I love....I'm just curious because I haven't driven an 11th gen, but the auto media seems to think that it drives better than the 10th gen.
@psewgobind
@psewgobind 2 жыл бұрын
@@UKEntomology Only have a brief drive with 11th CVT Sedan and it drover perfect for its mission. My 10th 6MT Sedan should have the same mission, but perhaps out of fluke, its noticeably better. It doesn't feel as refined as 11th, but it makes better use of the available rubber and more willing to change direction. Given they both share the same global chassis, I'm attributing it to 300lb lighter 10th Gen base Sedan and 1.4inch shorter wheelbase. Your hatchback doesn't have the weight advantage when compared to 11th, but shorter wheelbase (vs 11th) should give it better turn-ins. However, longer wheelbase of 11th may be more agreeable to heavier engine up front (like Type-Rs).
