I’d own 2 if available in the U.S.A.! :( Put almost 1 million miles total between 3 Rodeos we’ve owned. Still own a 1996 with over 300k miles on the clicker. All where manual trans 3.2l 4x4. Best/original suvs ever built hands down. Cheers.

Great looking exterior. The interior and infotainement are somewhat lacking with so many blank switches, no moon roof, no sliding 2nd row seats. Where this SUV shines is with it’s safety features and reliability…
@waynehobbs51752 жыл бұрын
Part time 4wd systems are a poor safety cousin to modern day systems that allw AWD on all surfaces. The MUX cannot engage 4 wheel drive on wet bitumen on hilly twisty roads. Subaru worked this out years ago. AWD on all surfaces like Everest and Pajero Sport have is hugely safer than RWD which is essentially what 1970's 4wd transfer case systems like MUX, Dmax and Fortuna inflict on their customers. If you put 3 tonnes behind these SUVs you want all paw grip when tackling many of Australia's bad bitumen roads in arduous conditions. Just like you wouldn't want your car to have only rear wheel brakes in that situation 4 paw grip in engine braking, acceleration and cornering makes for zn immensely safer rig. Gen 2 MUX should have ditched that terrible part time 4 wheel transfer case system. Unforgivable.

@waynehobbs51752 жыл бұрын
Just remember it has the second to lowest payload in its class so deck it out and you can forget towing with a TBM over 150kg. MUX and Fortuner both locked in the 1970s time warp of having a safety and towing compromise of primitive part time four wheel drive. Buy the basic 4x2 as 4x4 can't be used in most travels.

Bought the ute for a farm vehicle. I liked it initially. Now I hate it. The driving support settings are seriously painful. Lane departure and auto braking functions are a serious pain in the arse. You can switch them off but you need to do it every single time you start the car. The thing beeps at you constantly and the steering correction is way too aggressive, as is the auto braking function. It's all so this vehicle gets its safety rating but has caused me several near misses when intervening in my driving having been almost rear ended twice. Instead of being a safety feature its a safety hazard, totally distracting and foul. Not sure if I can access the computer through the OBD port and turn this rubbish off for good. Unfortunately no mechanic is willing to do this for you so your on your own. As soon as the software is available I will get rid of this for good hopefully. Plastics are hard and pretty old fashioned. The centre console is tiny and almost useless. half the size of my previous 2008 Mazda BT50. This car looks almost identical in the interior as my ute except for the leather seats. Isuzu is a truck manufacturer and that pedigree comes through loud and clear. So clunky and very utilitarian. Which is something that originally appealed to me as I wanted a farm ute. Could have done way better. Listen to what this guy says and you will hear he just talks about all the stuff he dislikes and the car's shortcomings, and that it's basically rubbish.. It may be cheap for its class but it shows throughout...avoid like the plague!

@waynehobbs51752 жыл бұрын
Two very different cars. Only one has a modern day transfer case that allows the mammoth safety feature of 4WD on all surfaces. Toyota has the Fortuner to compete with the ancient part time system same as MUX. The Prado can tow its factory specified towing limit with 5 people in the car. The MUX can only carry 180kg of payload if towing what Isuzu rated it. Chalk and cheese.

A primitive part time AWD system makes this and Fortuna worse in class. Pajero Sport and Everest which have more refined drivetrains and proper full time 4x4 will eat this primitive system 7 days a week on a slippery twisty piece of road. Add a caravan at 3.5t and its a fact the MUX has a payload of 175kg. Clearly advertising money bought this report.
@ProductReviewCars2 жыл бұрын
Any advertising would be very obviously disclosed to our audiences. Genuinely was impressed by the performance of the new MU-X.
@waynehobbs51752 жыл бұрын
@@ProductReviewCars you must be easilly impressed if such an antiquated 4x4 system and noisy engine impressed you. MUX and Fortuna are both running 1970s unimpressive part time 4wd systems. An investigative journalist would point this out. Oh yeah, John Cardogan did! Only actual knowledgeable motoring journalist in Australia.

@@ShinzouWoSateSateSate unlike the reporters who have editors chop incriminating information out of reports to avoid losing advertising revenue, my comments are truisms. My truisms should have been reported as facts. I will be harsh when companies deliver up primitive technology in a 2021 car or grossly exaggerate its towing ability. @waynehobbs51752 жыл бұрын
Best in class I think NOT. No AWD on bitumen when towing a 3.5t caravan in the wet with a 2.3t part time primitive four wheel drive system is a dangerous choice. $9k price increase with no replacement of its 1970s part time fourby system that has been likened by an engineer to a Massey Ferguson system in a non complimentary way. The tech in other safety measures has finally caught up with its peers and yes it finally has a rear diff lock. Only an ignorant person who doesn't realise this massive shortfall would buy it. Effectively for 95% of its use its a RWD only! The reviewer gave this omission of safety no mention instead worrying about the tactile rating of the switched. So sad motoring journalism is at its lowest ebb in my 50 years of being a car enthusiast.
