For me, 3 key difference from the RAV4 that makes the Lexus much more rigid and yet firm- 1) laser welded continuous weld instead of spotweld for critical joints 2) 1180MPA ultra high tensile steel on key structural parts 3) rear double wishbone suspension (RAV4 uses multi links)

The 350 isn't only roughly 50k but it only takes premium gas. The hybrid was fine, but it isn't going to outlast a naturally aspirated engine. The NX does it's job, and does it fairly well. Provides a good, solid user experience, a comfortable ride and good fuel economy. No one will be riding this thing above speed limits, no ones taking it to a track, they just want something to get them from point a to b with style and this full heartedly delivers. The "cheapness" of the interior won't be noticed by the buyers, especially younger ones. This is coming from a guy who hasn't cared about a lexus since 2007 when the LX was brand new. Also the 350 moving to a turbo 4 is the death of the NA 3.5v6 for lexus. Now we just have the turbo 3.5 in the rwd vehicles and we can kiss the 5.0 goodbye

Lexus packs even the most basic ones with Adaptive cruise and lane keep assist as standard (which to me is a must have), at entry pricerange all BMWs except for X3 have cloth seats and are pretty gutless. Even X3 has basic 184hp engine. Lexus residuals make 20% difference with finance in the current climate, it has much nicer alcantara like/leather mix seats, much bigger infotainment (albeit weird aspect ratio), much better speakers and decent ride. ES basic model is a bit over 20% more expensive here. In the end the biggest gripe I had shopping in 2023 for a car was finding one that wasnt stupidly configured and well...available to purchase right away.

● 1) Lock wheels to the ground. - 2) Heat car up. - 3) Pull at roof. - Voila. Lexus NX. ● I like the visual design of the temperature controls, though. ● One danger with HUD controls is that it can give a false sense of road awareness. Your mind is still focusing on the HUD, busy with using the system. You can still be very much surprised by what's going on in front of you, outside. Attention direction is supreme. ● I'd hate to have an audio system brand logo in the interior. Evidently it doesn't mean anything anyway; is just marketing bullshit. ● 4:55 Underbody segment is funny because you always put a Jack under the car. 😉 ● 6:08 You had to listen to *Kickstart My Heart* so that the car wouldn't feel as damn slow as it is? ● 6:44 What's with the patterned tire sides? 🤨 ● 7:30 Adanktive dappers. 😎😁

No complaints about the gloss black plastic here, or does Lexus get a free pass?
@HandsomeAlex253 жыл бұрын
I have to sit in one, but I think this is the first touch-based seat controls that I don't instantly hate. The positioning along the bottom row of the screen means the buttons are isolated from the rest of the controls, and I think it's a one-glance interaction, with the ability to brace your hand against something that is not a screen or button, much like some physical control layouts.

@gengstar093 жыл бұрын
To sum up this review. The NX is a great car. Its problems are that the GV70 and X3 are excellent cars. A fancy screen isn’t going to improve the ride quality that makes its competitors or even stablemate the ES better to drive. IMO, I wish they added the V6 for the 350 trim. In real world driving, turbocharged four cylinders don’t improve on mpg that much.

The 51K price tag for Luxury will likely be higher since it can still exclude popular options that really should have been part of the package, such as heated steering wheels, advanced park, Mark Levinson stereo, etc. When I price these in as well to get a fully loaded Lexus it comes to $57,000.
@naveenthemachine2 жыл бұрын
For 57K I’d blindly go for an is500 because you get a bespoke platform and a ferocious sounding 5.0L v8 472hp. That sounds like a better deal than spending 60K to get 300hp

Comment on Toyota CVT. I have the new Venza. Max mpg conservative driving on flat terrain, 55 mpg. No fun though. I now drive 100% in sport mode, get 32-35 mpg. Lot of fun though, Can’t tell it’s CVT. Fast launch off the stop, as both the electric and gas kick in together. A slingshot effect. When I say in sport mode, I mean changing it digitally on the dashboard to sport mode. I don’t mean the S on the shifter. I don’t understand that S on the shifter. I tried it once, and the engine realty whined.

Regarding infotainment, I feel most makers don't know how to optimize. They just keep adding more and more layers, animations ect. Really bogging down. Think of a 1st gen iPhone or iPod touch. I'd be willing to bet the processors in new cars are much faster, yet can't handle scrolling basic UI
@bigcjm3 жыл бұрын
But they have no choice the cars have more features than ever. More things "some" people want to turn off. You either have 40+ buttons like a Porsche or previous gen Acura. The other option is to layer the GUI. With functions you might change regularly on top and everything else deeper in the menus. This happens everywhere in tech. 1st gen iphone vs iPhone 13?
