UM. This is rather simple.... a sidewinder runs about 116.. my brother has a 2020 900T that out runs it to about 108.. SO what can the Mach do!? @@codybrackett812 stock 900 turbo should not outrun a sidewinder to 108 both things being equal like studs etc. 150 HP vs 200. Takes a stage one tuned ace to run with a 850 etec. Ace turbo comes alive with stage two,bigger injectors,etc. Mach z will be over 200 HP. Question is how much can it be turned up.

I decided until the smart shocks have a year or 2 under their belt I'm gonna stick with high quality fully adjustable shocks. I just ordered my new sled today and for the tight twisty Green Mountain trails of Vermont I think the renegade 600r competition package is killer value... I only weigh a 150 pounds and the 600r spools up so quick that corner to corner it's unbeatable... Thanks AJ for a great review and comment.

Hello AJ I used to watch and comment quite a bit through the past years. Last year I was injured and fractured my scull in 2 places and missed the entire season last winter as the injuries were in September. I did survive. I have to comment on this video as I had built prior the year before a low mileage (863 original mile) 2013 Artic cat xf 1100 turbo lxr. And installed one of Bens (from Turbo Dynamics) 320 hp kits along with the launch control!!! Getting to my comment. I was Addicted to the 600 ft races in upstate New York and loved the “Jerry Rice” series!!!! I know your a Snow Cross racer and I was real happy to see you enjoyed the crap out of the launch control option on the Mach Z!!! It is cool isn’t it!! I did sell my last racer a 2004 or 5 Mach z with the 1000 cc Sdi motor and for a Naturally aspirated 2 stroke it was strong at 180+ hp it’s trail manners were nil. I love my procross though and having the uncoupled slid dialed in as well as I can it has decent trail manners I am interested in a newer trail sled as if I modify my xf anymore for racing I’d work on the suspension and not want to have it as a dual purpose sled any longer. I wonder how was the Mach z you road on the trails Aj? Can it’s suspension handle a hard trail season in old forge and tug hill where I ride? Will the factory shocks survive a 1000-2000 mile hard trail season for me? I don’t want to update shocks on a brand new machine at least not the first season. I figured I’d ask you? I am doing well after my injuries and am looking forward to my 2021/22 racing season. It’s great to be watching you Lester’s again and hope you and all your families are doing well. I’m digging the new content and all the extra work it takes to get a lot of accessories videos is noticed and appreciated!!!! The smart shock system would be a super nice thing to have for people who ride with 2 person on the sled. The anti-bottoming feature and the body roll control would come in clutch. If you can’t get the air suspension this could be an alternative

This is a nice looking snowmobile, but I like the Thundercat better, plus from the Thundercat you get no turbo lag, it gives you full power from the start, so you don't need launch control!

@Roy Patterson That Cat/Winder is really vicious isn’t it? I would generally expect that many have seen such things, but I’ve watched several dyno tests and the TCat and Sidewinder are genuinely getting 200+ HP. The highest result I’ve seen was 214 stock!

Cat/yami make around 210hp on independent dyno's and doo makes 180. Launch control only does so much when its 30hp down. And the 998 yami motors can be easily tuned the the upper 200s and even over 300hp with intake/fuel mods. The 998 it also much more responsive then the 900ace, I think cat/yami still has it in the bag.

@@maxmock6419 The 998 was 'rated' at 180hp as well when it 1st came out so I don't suggest getting too cocky. I have a feeling this motor will dyno higher than the rating and its a lighter and more efficient chassis than the Yamacat. I think it'll be close.

Thanks AJ. I have a good thread over on Dootalk and have posted your video. We all appreciate you opinion on the Mach, and we want more for sure. If you can run it against a bone stock SRX that would be awesome. Also, myself along with many others who are buying a Mach are very concerned about how the new Cable-iTC throttle "feels". For me this is my biggest concern and iTC kept me away from prior 900t. I appreciate that you liked it so far and it feels better. Can you really get into specifics on the feel on trails. Please try to find some bumps and stand up ride it and let us know if the throttle is jerky. Please leave it in SPORT. I don't like the laggy feel of standard and hope it can be left in sport without being to jerky while doing some technical stand up style riding. We are much less worried about the speed and power then that iTC! LOL. But we do want to see that speed run with SRX and maybe a Tcat and why not throw in the new XCR too! -Rockerdan.

Hey Rockerdan, will do. I'm just finishing up the test today so Ill get that in there for ya. It's better than the prior for sure. It it as good a feel as the Yamaha throttle, no. In sport mode it's good but it does hit a second after input so it takes a little bit of getting used to, RPM is increased by 400 in Sport and helps to keep the intake tract loaded with more charge but you can still notice it. I think after a weekends worth of running you'll get used to how to ride it, like most other sleds , but I will say the hybrid cable/electric is much better. The actual handlebar feel of squeezing the throttle is like any other 2 stroke sled, so much better! I didn't have much love for the thumb finger thing, and the resistance was far too low. This is like an 850, actually feels the exact same. ~AJ

Im just going to throw my 2 cents in here too after riding it yesterday. The throttle still has lag. Not as bad as the 150hp turbo. But its still there. I found in sport mode, because the throttle curve is ramped up so aggressively, when you hit the throttle it lags, then jumps forward. I was trying to ride it aggressively on a trail and it was very hard to keep it smooth. The feel of the throttle is much better, but I wouldnt ride it in sport throttle mode. Normal mode was liveable. But still jumpy.

Every since the old 1200 days with the dreaded throttle lag video, the DOO 4s intake has been a very controversial thing to talk about. I am a long time dootalk guy along with Totally Yamaha forum guy, and when I agreed with your thoughts on the long intake tract, I caught hell time and time again. In the end, I believe you were spot on. Loved my Apex and Winder as Yamaha has always known how to bring a responsive 4s engine. BRP always seems to like to do things their own way. So they add iTC to quicken the response electronically and it ends up helping on the NA 1200. But when they try it on the 900t it has been nothing but controversy all over again! I pretty much stopped posting on DT as it became taboo to talk about iTC. So it's nice to know, at least BRP heard us and was working all along on this new "combo" throttle system. It got me excited enough to order one. Of course the MACH name had just a little bit to do with that decision too! lol Keep up the good work, we appreciate the detailed reviews on the iTC and we await another video of the mighty mach. I’d be curious to see this run against a stock 2012 - 2016 F1100 turbo....if you can find a stock one! Haha I’m a huge turbo sled fan, both 4 and 2 stroke. It’s great to see more options in the market. There’s two things I can’t handle in this industry though: those who discriminate against brands, and those who ride skidoo’s. Haha. Kidding of course. Looking forward to some racing. Over short (I think Doo wins) distance & longer (that’s where the question ? is) distance. Against the current 998 benchmark. Similar weights, break-in, track configuration, rider weight, recording equip., fluids, etc. And as much as I hate to admit it (being a Sidewinder owner) the T Cat has to be included. The last couple years it’s had an edge on the Winder. Reference American Snowmobiler annual (New York I think) drags before they folded. Doo has a lot of nice features. In my opinion a ugly critter sitting next to a Winder tho.

I have a 2021 expedition 900 turbo, do you think there is a way to retro grade the 2021s with the new throttle, I actually think the wireless is a accident waiting to happen especially with the 2 up seat, if the driver gets off first and the throttle inadvertently gets blipped in sport mode you and the passenger are going for a "ride" and I don't mean in a good way, I absolutely love the sled and it's power, just not the power delivery with current throttle, one more minor gripe, Polaris back passenger handgrips fold out or up to allow easier access to the passenger/driver I would like easier passenger access, so it doesn't feel like you are strapping into an f-15 with a g suit lol but it sure is a blast!

After yesterday it worked great, I rode it for a few hundred miles and I'm impressed. In comfort mode it's like riding on a cloud, literally the best version of R-Motion ever. I do believe the valving is a bit too stiff in sport mode, it makes the ride quite rough and the front end is harsh. I'm 220 pounds and I rode it in comfort 90% of the time so I'd like to see Comfort be the standard setting, the standard setting be sport and there be one more softer setting where comfort is now. But that being said in comfort mode it's able to adjust for bottom out and know when the skis leave the ground so it stiffens up compression. Corners like crazy too, pumps up compression on the outside ski and softens inside so it rails the corners with no ski lift. Ski pressure is much higher compared to the Yamaha, I would be ok with a lighter front end feel as in the heavy snow yesterday it was overpowering at times but SKi-Doo's are more rider forwards so they have more ski pressure and this is something a buyer will get used to, and a SKi-Doo rider upgrading will already have a feel for. It had a fresh set of carbides on the Pilot X's as well so it was getting good bite. Head to head is going to be interesting, there are nice qualities to both the Mach and SRX and it will be a lot of rider preference but I think anyone who spring checks a Mach will be pretty dang happy. I'm going to go play with launch control more lol, it's so much fun! ~AJ

I see heated helmet shield port. Is that standard or a add on? And what's in the front storage? And how does the reverse work? Lever or electric start button?

It has one on our unit, i'm guessing it's standard however ours also came with little flip up hand guard mirrors and I don't think those are stock so the heated input could be an add on. The front storage compartment on top of the gauge is just the little pocket for your cell phone to charge and then a bit of space underneath that. Reverse works great, it's push button, used it 100 times yesterday or more and never had an issue. ~AJ

Thanks AJ for the overview. So glad the folks in Valcourt dumped the fly by wire system . That's a good idea that never worked. Performance riders like myself like to feel connected to the machine. Also the extra 17 lbs if true is not good. I want a lighter four stroke not heavier. Ski Doo is going to regret putting launch control on as warranty claims for driveline and track will increase and some riders will get tossed off the sled. Graphics and colors are non-existent as any mud and debris will make that sled looked terrible. Do not like they lowered the sled either . Similar to the SRX . I want all the suspension I can get . Hope this helps someone decide .

Nice ride, but it's time to bring back the Elan with a small 4 stroke. Price it around $7000. My kids are going to need something to replace their Zr200 in a few years. The 400cc Yamaha/Arctic Cats are to much of a size transition from the zr200. I'm sure Ski-doo can make something small a light for crawling around in the deep snow.

Why didn't they do the triple? I was super pumped till I heard it was the ace turbo. Why not the expert package 2 stoke turbo? Why not a triple? Only one year and they are selling as a lake drag sled, why not the triple with all that technology? Would have sounded better. Can't wait to start seeing the mach Z side by side comparison to new and old!!

Guess I wanted to see the 850 turbo start being offered in more packages. 1000 etec twin would have been way better that the ace turbo! Guess I didn't except them to use the ace for this sled. They should offer the MX-Z XRS with the 850 turbo and run them side by side. MXZ with a launch mode if possible...
