Great video for someone like me who’s trying to decide on buying a 2022. This really gives a true ownership view for the person I think represents the “typical” owner who wants to do some track days but will mostly use as a regular daily/road driver. So many KZbin owners go crazy with mods, which is OK, but doesn’t really represent what ‘most’ owners really do in real life (just my opinion). I REALLY appreciate your choice about not changing the suspension! This car (and GR86) are so well known for their stock suspension, it makes a lot of sense to not change it because so much use time will be road driving versus track time. Thanks for the clear concise ownership details.

I brought my BRZ to the dealership for the turn signal issue and here's what they told me: the electric system that control the turn signal is located in a place where it's vulnerable to humidity/cold. So in their opinion, it's normal and not a problem and that should just ventilate the humidity as frequently as possible. I've never been in a car that have that problem and like you said, I find it extremely dangerous. They should really do a recall to fix this.
@alamos82 жыл бұрын
Yes, that answer is... Well... Nonsense. It is not a problem but that would make the car fail inspection (at least on my country). Seems just trying to delay solving it until warranty expires and then it is the owners problem (and wallet)

My BRZ had the turn signal issue too. I had it since the last winter and the turn signal failed more frequently when the temperature is lower, I live in Michigan, so it is pretty cold during the winter. What I also observed was any type of strong light (high beam, sunlight, or even snow reflection light) behind me can trigger the turn signal failure. I brought my car to the dealer twice, the first time they swap the entire car computer and it didn't solve the problem; the second time they swapped the entire rear light unit and it seems to work fine now.

On my previous BRZ I was able to get -2.3 degrees of camber with OEM Crash bolts in upper hole and SPC Camber Bolt (81305) in the lower hole. I’m in a similar boat with my GR86, thinking to keep stock dampers in place for 86Cup stock class. I’ve seen people do OEM crash bolts + SPC camber bolts + Pedders Offset Camber Castor mounts (PED-580096), which has a OEM style rubber top mount for less NVH to achieve -3.0 to -3.2 degrees camber and a bit more caster gain. SPC bolts are about $20 per pair, and Pedders top hats are around $160 per per pair. I hope you’re able to share your experiences of the 86Drive Challenge/86Cup before moving on to a different platform. Thanks for taking us along the journey!

The 510’s are gonna ride a bit stiffer but will be more track oriented but I’ve bought the 500’s which are more for once and awhile track days and great for daily driving. Cool thing is you can get in the door with the 500’s and build them up as you go they are modular so you can add piggy backs and air ride cups( more for the stance guys). I got to street the GR86 in the cold and wet. It seemed perfectly setup for this condition. I had to coach it to go sideways, but when most rear drive would start to go into uncontrolled spin, the GR86 would swing back the other way with just a bit of lift-off. The lift off at the point of no-return is really cool, since it almost feel like you're floating in neutral for a split second. Seems like you like the BRZ as a learner-car, but that the man/machine connection that sometimes happens, hasn't. Does seem possible to fix your main issue with the car, understeer, in a way that you could daily-drive. But that achieving that perfect balance would be expensive and then the car still might not inspire you, making it not worth it. Seems likely the Civic Type R and the GR Corolla will also have some understeer, though a stronger man/machine connection. But still, they won't crescendo or turn in like a 992 GT3. Or rumble and roar like a Shelby. Or throttle oversteer like an M2 CS. Part of the issue is you've driven that level of car.

I have seen this video before. I just wanted to add ontop of the issues that people might have found with this platform atm. So there's a few cases now that the factory over seal the timing cover. Some of the excessive RTV would get knock loose into the oil pan. Hence eventually end up in the strainer before the pick up tube to block off oil pickup, which ultimately causing oil starvation on the engine and spinning a rod bearing. I wonder if zygrene can look into that and do a blog about it. (Maybe drop the oil pan of your zd8 for a peace of mind?)

Wack clickbait title . Your car is fine , the radiator got a small hole most likely from a rock at the track . It happens .
@Zygrene2 жыл бұрын
If I didn't catch the leak pretty much the moment it happened, it could have left me stranded or even damaged the engine. I consider that a major issue. Intermittently non-functional turn signals are also a pretty big safety hazard.

I put 1000 miles on the car after the last track day before the leak started, so I'm not convinced it happened at the track

@@Zygrene Amen...YUGE ISSUE...especially if one lets their girl drive and we know 99% of ladies NEVER look at Temp Gauge til the Red Warning Light comes on and then engine damage has already started

Yes, the radiator issue could just be bad luck (though the comments suggest that a few others have experienced the same). The faulty turn signal issue actually seems like a pretty big deal given that it is happening to so many other owners (again, as noted in the comments). If truly widespread and not fixed quickly, this could turn into a real headache for Subaru/Toyota - as with any problem that might result in accidents where the car is at fault rather than the driver.

You did the ad while driving.... Amazing that you thought to yourself. "I should do this ad while driving down a highway." yes, just keep taking you hand off the wheel to look directly into the camera as your passing people on the inside .

Typical of you tubers these days I guess. Move to new cars as new ones release. What you thinking, Nissan Z, GR Corolla? I assume with the timing its the Z.
@Zygrene2 жыл бұрын
Not sure but both are contenders.

@@Zygrene If you are going to do it, you will need to be a first adopter - being late to the party could leave you with pretty bad channel growth. It does depend on the market size though, GR Corolla is incredibly limited production as far as we can tell - so while I think it will have a decent initial impact, its probably got a short tail. The Nissan Z is probably better in some ways, less internal production competition to dilute the fanbase, potentially less supply issues (we'll see!), and certainly in the US market a far more traditional 'pony' esq car, being big with high HP. I'd go the Nissan - from a channel point of view anyway.

It's a first year car, in 2 years most of these simple problems will be fixed, and in 8 years I'll be able to afford one lol

Yup..I sold cars for 25 years...anyone in the biz with experience NEVER buys an all new model...especially if it's a Ford!
