I think a lot of people share your sentiments on the older look... however, a TON of people said the same thing about the exterior refresh on the original ZN6 Toyota 86. People didn't like the "catfish front bumper" at first, but a ton of people still bought it, and a lot of people with earlier models began swapping the front bumper and adding front lips to update the look of their cars. Maybe this one will grow on us too! :)

I've seen a dozen videos of this car but this one is 👍.Just a quick question @MotorMavens, when you were reving the car or on the track with Scott did you feel like they have used induction sound enhancers through speakers or is it all natural?

As a former 2013, 2015 FRS owner I’m impressed with the improvements exterior wise and even interior as well. I just hope the FA24 is a much better stout motor than the FA20.

Same cabin a little redesign on the front and rear fenders Using the same amount of space the interior redesign is 👍 The bzr86 is a touch longer. Gives some room for a bigger power plant But over all it’s a nice job using the same chassis

completely understand and agree with that tail light design... however that's the easiest thing to change! :D Think about how many tail light designs are available for the first gen Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86! :)

@@MotorMavens It 100% will be faster (both stock and modified). The new one not only has a noticeable more amount of power, but it also has much grippier tires. Biggest thing that most people aren’t noticing/mentioning is that peak tq is now @3,700 rpms (where on the old cars, you were actually losing tq between 3k-4k rpms and peak tq was @ 6,400 rpms). So this thing is going to feel much more alive, even without any mods. I’m planning on buying one once I find the right color (and whenever they start offering brembos). I’ll probably put a titanium catback exhaust, maybe an air filter and/or intake, and a couple suspension mods. Should make the car perfect with those mods.

Liked your coverage on this. As a '18 brz owner I HATE that front bumper and not a fan of the rear. Front bumper looks like it belongs on an SUV. Maybe it rises higher than I would like it to? 3/4 view is fairly nice

I’m not digging the rear too much but the interior looks nicer than last gen. I live in the Northeast and said I wouldn’t own a RWD car but this one is very enticing. I’m a little upset that we don’t have fog lights on this car anymore though.

Can anyone confirm if the rear seats are any more usable? I was hoping the wider stance would in some way translate to more legroom over the prior generation in the back. I enjoyed the video. Can you tell me if the new model has blind spot monitoring and also back-up/parking sensors on the rear bumper? Regarding the the bumper sensors, some pictures that I have seen have them while the car the you reviewed did not.

Hi Scott! The car I shot was a pre-production car, so we didnt get any specs on the final release or anything like that. I'm guessing the higher end versions of the cars might have those things. I'll stay tuned and update everyone once I find out!

I hate when the digital speedometer has a too slow refresh of the instant speed. You lose the feeling of progression of the analog instrument..except when the digital one refresh every 1 kmh/mph. Have you tried this? Thank you.

I have a ''pre-teen'' and she LOVES sitting in the back seat of my 2018... it's actually not a bad ''3 passenger'' coupe... and on SEVERAL occasions, believe it or not, had 3 passengers with me... it's doable... Side note... when I actually test drove the car, I brought my wife and daughter along... so, on the first test drive, the sales guy came along and we were 4 in the car... he sold me on the fact that the back seats were actually usable IF NEEDED...

it's a tough decision TBH! The 400z definitely has more power, but if this BRZ handles "better than the original" like Subaru says it does... then the new BRZ might have a bit more finesse. I have a 400z video coming up soon BTW :)

Wow, I didn't even notice that!!!!! I wonder if it's for a performance gain. Some aftermarket companies like Skunk2 have been switching to a special type of plastic on their intake manifolds so the heat from the engine doesn't warm the intake charge
