2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Test Drive | Am I Crazy To Consider Buying Another?

2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Test Drive. I am considering selling the 2023 BMW G80 M3 and going back to a smaller more compact sport sedan or coupe since the BMW G80 M3 is just too big for my needs and to park in NYC. I also miss the better more comfortable Sparco carbon bucket seats as the BMW Carbon buckets are pure torture for me to get in and out of the car all day long and hurt my back and pelvis. I absolutely loved this test drive on the 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV and really missed the cars styling, smaller size, sound and of course the Sparco seats. Will I buy another one? I honestly do not know right now because I still have fears of the service and support stigma from the past. Recently 3 local Alfa Romeo dealers have closed their doors so this makes it even more of a hassle to get anything done for warranty. What do you guys think i should do? Am I crazy to even consider buying another Giulia? I also regret selling my 2021 Alfa Rosso Giulia QV but watch the video and I talked about why I did that at that time.

If I was you though I’d go for a special color like Montreal Green it’s gorgeous, rare and it looks perfect with the 🍀 also in green. The T yellow/ gold too might be cool. Very easy to keep clean. With the black it’s terrible in the ☀️ summer weather it’s like an oven with the black seats. I have one and never again would I go for a black/ black car of any sort. Plus it’s terrible to keep clean. I unfortunately have 4 black sports cars! White is great to deflect the sunshine here in florida. Red is great i have 2 but it attracts birds to poop in The car if left outside at all. My mom had a dark red car and the birds would fly into the garage to poop on it 😂

@@autofanaticcars I know its just headlights but the refresh gives these cars a much more menacing look in person. It really is amazing how much it lifts the front end look. I know you got more dough but used examples may be fitted with the new lights. From one alfa owner you know the depreciation curve is insane. I don't mind operating a used vehicle but maybe you do. In your shoes I would 100% go that route. Thanks for all the Alfa content!

The fact that you had so many issues with the QV and you still went there to test drive it tells me that you really love the car, and that the M3 has not replaced it!!! As for which one, I would go with black with the carbon roof. And then just add the carbon in the areas that the carbon package used to have them and black out the badges. Add the other wheel option like you had in the black one and you are all good. As for the BMW, I still think it’s a nice car. I feel like they ruined the side (the F80 was more aggressive looking), but it’s definitely a nice car in a great color scheme. I wouldn’t have added the front splitter. I think the car looks better without it. Good luck either way!!!

Don't get me wrong, they're great cars and last decade I had plans on getting an E92 auto, but I'm more of an Audi guy when it comes to German cars. Prefer the styling of the Audi 5 series over BMW coupes and there's nothing like the R8 from BMW.

The way you speak of understanding art, design, and fashion is important to see what’s wrong with the design of the M3 is or cars in general is how I go around looking at cars. I’m in architecture school and the Giulia is by far the best looking sedan in my opinion, the lines on the car are purposeful and end nicely. 99% of people don’t know that the carbon fiber front splitter, rocker panel and rear diffuser of the car line up with each other, almost like it extrudes out from inside the car. it’s really noticeable with the rocker panel as the body itself protrudes out a bit, then you have the carbon piece following it out.

I had the same debate with the G80. Test drove it numerous times. The carbon buckets are so uncomfortable are not conducive to daily driving. I thought there was more throttle lag on the G80 even in the M modes. The G80 ride is so stiff. Uncomfortably stiff and no matter what configuration it is set to. The sound is meh. The M3 is quicker, newer, and has better tech. What it is missing is soul. Every drive I take with it I walk away feeling disappointed. I've had my QV for 5 years now. I throw snows on it and daily it year round and have 50K on it. In those 5 years I have seen 1 on the road. I see M3s all the time. The QV as an ICE will soon disappear. I'm keeping mine. I have zero interest in any other car at this point outside of the exotics which I am unable to afford. Come back to the fold!

I agree with the seats. When I got my QV I was hesitant about how the comfort of the carbon buckets would be, but just like you, it is the only car that I have even been able to take on extended trips without causing any discomfort in my back.

Both cars are impractical, expensive, unnecessary, scary to maintain....SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL GO WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE. Her name is Giulia Q and she loves you too! ----coming from someone who traded in a beautiful Lexus IS300 for a sexy drop dead gorgeous Alfa Giulia Ti Sport in Stromboli Grey with Red interior...not a smart or practical decision by any means...but I never regretted. Phil - Here are the steps you need to take: 1. Trade M3 for the QV 2. Get a set of QV Front Fender Splash Guards from Auto Fanatic while they're still in stock 3. Order a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S so you'll have them available whenever you want to install them. Did you know the standard carbon fiber roof was is no longer standard? The CF roof is only available in clear as an option at this time. Would love to see you in the QV again! Your videos were key in my decision to trade my 2019 Giulia TI Lusso for a new 2021 QV in Trofeo White Tri-Coat.

Had. 2017 QV that I drove for 32k miles. I now a 22 QV. Will probably end up with a 23 or 24 before they go extinct. So far my 22 has been flawless through 14 months and 10k miles. And like you say. You do become emotionally attached to them. QV all the way. And with some of the discounts being offered around the country you can get a killer deal.

“The Seats make the Whole Car” I totally agree. I test drive an older QV and as I stated before, everything was Tight and I felt Hunkered Down in the Car. I test drove an F-Pace SVR. The seats felt excellent but it still felt likeI was on top of the Vehicle, rather than in it. I recently test drove a Maserati Levante Trofeo. The Seats, the Position and feeling INSIDE the Vehicle rather than on it are what stands out to me the most. Just like the Giulia QV, everything was tight, hard and hunkered down. And even though the SUV sits higher off the ground. I still felt like I became one with it once I sat down in the Seat.

If I can advise you, wait for the Giulia QV restayling 2023 version with full LED headlights, it has some mechanical refinements such as the new differential and a few more horsepower

I bought an 06 Alfa in 2010. When she got totaled in a crash 5 years later, I went and bought the same car, same color, same spec, just an 07, and still own it. At the same time, I'm always looking for the GTA version of the car. I'm planning on buying a used Julia 5 years from now because I know it will look gorgeous even in a decade. Wherever you are in the world, if you own an Alfa, you need a good mechanic. Just one! but he/she has to know your car and be your mechanic. It's better to have 1 great garage/dealership around than 5 mediocre ones. That's the Alfa way. Needless to say, I was originally here for the Alfa content.

The shock tuning has been altered. The ecu for them is in the boot floor and you can change it to GTAm spec.

Have you considered a ct4 blackwing? Or if not attached to a manual, the 2018 m3cs is a great car that checks most of your boxes. 991 and 992 gen 911’s are very daily-able as well if you don’t need 4 doors(I love the T model)

ct4 blackwing is badass but a general motors is still at general motors I just got off my 2013 CTS I know it's not the same thing but it only had 75,000 mi , glad to get rid of that POS. Picking up a TI today. :)

Everyone takes notice of the Alfa QV, it’s a rare car to see on the road, the styling is great. BMW’s are everywhere, yeah nice car but it’s not an Alfa. Phil i cant help you with your decision, all i can say is remember all the times you were left stranded on the side of the road and how often you had problems. I'd recommend you looking at a Porsche maybe a bit older 991 gts or a 992 if thats doable from a price point. Or look at an M2 CS or competition

Phil, hand on my heart, never had a day off the road due to issues with breakdown or failure. I had my first in July 2019 in Alfa Red, I swapped that for my next one in November 2020 which was in Misano Blue and kept that one using it daily to work and back until May this year. The mileage was getting high so thought I would change it for the one I have now which is in Lipari Ochre!! I think it could be the only QV in the UK in this colour. Hope you come back to the brand, whatever the reason it just demonstrates that BMW have still not caught up!!! Lol

I have a G82 M4 manual. I just can’t grow to love it. I’m going to check out a Giulia QV this week. Is the M4 a “bad” car? No. But I don’t feel a connection, probably because of how it looks. My entire life I’ve had cars I turn around and look at when I walk away. Haven’t done that with the G82.

Carbon roof makes this car so much prettier and gives it more sporty look I was also considering to buy a m3 back in 2020 im so glad i found my 2019 Quad in Nero Vulcano with the Perfect spec ( CCB with Red Caliper , Carbonroof, sparcos, Red Interior and all extras full spect out ,even have an sexy Aluminium Tank Cap 😂 Now i have 40'000 Km on it and i love it everytime i get in my car it feels like the first time, i think i can never be boerd of this machine 😂

I know you love black so listen to your heart. One last thing to note if you decide to pull the trigger is remember the customer service and reliability of your last one. @@autofanaticcars Yes, the red looks great. The Trofeo White Tri-Coat has a nice contrast with all the carbon fiber pieces. To non-car folks it can almost pass for a white Camry with Sport package because it's sorta low key. The Camry's rear diffuser if much less aggressive that the one on the QV.

I own my second QV in Montreal Green (as shown on my channel). The first one I had was 2017 in Tricoat red. I enjoy driving this car so much when I have a Huracan Tecnîca and GT3RS in my garage as well.

they really are fun cars I drove a customers new M2 manual yesterday and it was a nice fun car but then drove my new 2023 QV in Rosso Etna and even though it is an automatic I still prefer the chassis, steering, sound and feel any day over any of these new BMW M models.I did buy a new QV all the update videos are on the channel.

I would say swap if your gonna do more QV content: GTA over fenders with wider wheels, gta rear diffuser and wing and a air intake of some sort. Stuff that you haven't done with the QV.

The wing is a little much for my tastes. As far as stock wings are concerned it's one of the best looking especially for a sedan. The diffuser is definitely a must.

You should definitely go back to the Alfa. When it comes to be a sexy, unique, driver focused car there just is not anything better than that Quad. The Sparco seats and the exposed carbon roof are a really great way to spec it out.

@@autofanaticcars I have the same spec of your old ‘18 Quad. It has 40K on it and I am taking it in next week to get the 40K service. It has been very reliable. I have the sparco seats and love them as well. It is a freaking amazing car! You made me really give the M3 a look, but I just cannot seem to connect with it…too common and utilitarian.

While I like the color of the M3 I'm just not a BMW fan. So I'd say go with the Alfa that is a sweet looking ride, very good performance and sound.

Go for it! During the QV test drive you spoke so highly of the Alpha-again. The Englewood Cliffs dealership service is awesome for my Stelvio & they provide loaners. They’re awesome!!!

Grew up spending the weekends at my friend's house who's father was the service manager at the local BMW dealership and brought home a new BMW every weekend for us to play around in. Everything from 540's to M Roadsters. Just don't make em like they used too. I stumbled across this channel after leasing a 2018 Stelvio and ended up purchasing a 2020 Volcano Black QV early 2021 (2020 is the first year of the port injection) and still love driving this car. I for one would love to see another Quad on this channel and I'm a die hard BMW fanboy. On a side note I've been watching some review video's on the MJC V3 Foam Cannon you had on the channel and just about bought one until one reviewer did a comparison showing how the MJC V3 produced very dry foam that could leave the paint more susceptible to scratches vs a wetter foam that dwelled for longer. Did you notice that during your comparison?

After owning a 2018 Rosso Comp QV I've had enough! I traded it in... for a 23 Verde Montreal QV lol Nothing compares for me tbh... I've got the exposed CF roof as well but the normal seats which I loved from my experience with the 18 more than the Sparcos. Go back to it, your heart craves it.

I lost my 2017 giulia qv fully loaded with CCB, sparco seats, Rosso Corsa in an accident recently. Went right back to the dealership and bought a new stelvio qv volcano black. I'm waiting to buy the facelifted giulia qv as I have seen a few recent European reviews of the new mechanical diff and the car goes sideways way easier. There is no car like a giulia qv. Get one when you are ready. So far been driving the stelvio daily and driving it like I stole it and it's amazing. The car is clear wrapped so no stone chips. The first 2 gears are not torque limited and the final drive is 3.73 vs 3.0 so on the street it feels more angry than the Giulia.

It’s hard internally to buy the same car over and over and I need to experience different cars but like you said, the giulia qv just fits in terms of styling, engine, comfort, size.

I test drove a 2023 QV: The steering felt the same as my previous 2020 except when in race mode i.e. felt fake added weight. Can you confirm this? Suspension felt stiffer than before too. I might be pulling the trigger, hoping they sorted out some bugs by now. Update: Saw your 2021 QV review. Steering weight has definitely been added in Race mode and the car does seem to handle better as well.

Can only encourage you on going for another Giulia! Think there won’t be trouble like with the older models anymore. Just consider the slightly bigger changes coming with MY24 and - IMHO more than that - all the small things that have gone in MY23, namely - far less colours (body AND brake calipers) - without going for the exposed carbon roof the roof ain‘t carbon anymore - dash and doors only with dark stitching even when seats have it green/white (which is available only with the Sparco seats now) - no red or green belts anymore - badges only in chrome - no double windows anymore - footrest in many markets not part of sport pedals anymore, just black plastic - in many parts of the interieur the leatherette they use is the less fine one they used in the first years with the base models et cetera… However in the new MY24 they even saved the silver/metal surroundings of the speakers within the door cards, even with the QV models. Being you, I‘d rather go for a good MY22, IMO the best model year Giulia so far. If you like it you maybe could add the new head lights
