No lie I was heavily considering a Tesla model 3, but as of July 2022 here in the states, the standard base price is just under $47,000, and despite how "techy" and nice looking a Tesla may be, the more you do your homework the more you realize that there's far more competition out there offering far more value for your dollar. I just pre-ordered a brand new 2023 bolt EUV premier trim that comes packed to the gills with every feature that it can, and thanks to the price cut it only cost me $43,000, which is $4,000 less than the MSRP price of a base model 3, and I couldn't be happier. It will serve my family well as a daily commuter, and it provides us with everything we're looking for in a family vehicle. I'm definitely glad I didn't jump into the Tesla craze and finance a car that would have had a monthly payment that mirrors a mortgage payment! So if anyone else is in the market for an EV, definitely take the time to look at the competition, because at the exorbitantly high prices that Tesla keeps pricing their vehicles, you can get far more bang for your buck elsewhere.

It's primarily going to be used as a daily commuter for my family, and to be perfectly honest there's more than enough charging stations in my neck of the woods should I ever find myself having to rely on them. At the end of the day, I'm not dismissing Tesla in any way as I know that they are reliable and reputable cars, but they're also no longer available at a mass market friendly price, and until that changes the competition is going to take advantage of that.

Good review. I only disagree with one rather minor detail. I actually don't think the Bolt EV and EUV are hard to tell apart. The EUV has a much more prominent, masculine hood and higher beltline that rises boldly at the rear--relatively speaking lol. To be more specific, this is all relative to the rather egg-shaped Bolt EV. Neither is exactly sexy in their proportions, but the EUV has more angles from which it looks pretty decent. Those are just my thoughts. Both are great value propositions and deserve to sell well even considering the (vastly overstated) controversy over battery fires (which remain statistically less likely to occur than in a conventional ICE vehicle, the margin just isn't as wide as it should be since EVs are designed NOT to catch fire whereas combustion vehicles are designed to burn the flammable liquids they are transporting. BIG difference.)

@@UlexiteTVStoneLexite it's probably just a matter of how much I've looked at these things. Plus, different people's eyes notice different things. Some people are good with faces, some aren't. Personally what makes them easy to tell apart is that the Bolt EUV has a more pronounced SUV-like hood because the A pillars are pushed back, whereas the Bolt EV has a hood that flows straight into the windshield at pretty much the exact same angle (like a minivan). The EV also has the odd looking connected lighting elements. Not only are they connected to each other but they connect to the corner of the windshield. The EUV has two separate lighting elements that aren't connected to each other much less the windshield. Are they similar? Sure. Much the way brothers look similar. They certainly aren't twins though. More important than that though, isn't it crazy how used and new prices are virtually the same??? Handy for people like you to be able to make the no brainer decision to move from used to new without paying a financial price to upgrade. Good on you!

@@chrismiddleton4733 yeah there was absolutely no point in buying a used one when I would be paying about the exact same price out the door for the new one. It might have cost me like an extra $2,000 but I'll pay $2,000 to have all the new technology

Neat video, but unfortunately Chevrolet Bolt is a ripoff in Canada. The EUV costs just as much as an Ioniq 5 or a Kia EV6 or Kia Niro 2023 EV. I ended up just ordering a Kia EV6. No interest in paying Chevy 45,000$ for a car that is way smaller, has mediocre seating, and is missing most of the high end tech that an electric car should have. They straight up said they weren't lowering the price in Canada because the competition is 45K so they don't care about lowering it. Such a scummy move and it lost my business.

Another Canadian here. Totally agree. Ioniq 5, EV 6, and ID.4 offer much better value for the money.

I guess since the Chevy Spark and Smart ForTwo ED are no longer in production in the US, the Bolt EUV can claim this title. I had thought that the Mini EV was one of the least expensive, but I think that it starts at $29k. Now if only the Bolt had a faster Charger, it might actually make sense for a low end EV; 55kW is pathetic. But still FAR better than the recharge rates of the Spark EV and ForTwo ED (which maxed out at 6 kW) I will never deliberately drive another Bolt or any vehicle with a DC fast charger less than 100 kW, if I can help it (except maybe an Aptera)

Newes LG battery for Bolts usually 250 miles battery. Level 2 charger (240v) at home only 5-6 hours for full charge or level 1 (110 v) from 18 to 24 hours . GM is offering up to $1500 for charger system level 2 at hjome. Problem with EV it is most around the cities not for long commute.On other hand, new Equinox EV 2023 with newest Ultium battery range 350 miles for full battery charge.

did you not install a DC level 2 charger at your home? All you do is plug it in at night and go to bed. The next day, you have a fully charged battery with a 200+ mile range. Why did charging stations steal your life? lol

These vehicles are designed to be charged at home while you sleep! You don't get up to go to work, stop by a charging station for an hour, and then go to work lol if you're going to use it to travel 500 or 1,000 miles cross country on a vacation, just deal with the wait (go get a bite to eat). I doubt you'll be vacationing on a weekly basis that you're going to find the need to charge at a commercial charging station every week!

I feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle and a outrageous expense in the long run. Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !
@t0dd0002 жыл бұрын
I would suspect everyone is well aware of the need to replace those batteries eventually. But you save zillions on all the costs associated to a gas engine and transmission and brakes. So ... Electric is probably cheaper. The environment? It's a mixed bag.
@toonman3612 жыл бұрын
Even though I am a lib, I am less concerned with the environmental effect than the cost savings on gas and general efficiency. I am excited that the environment could eventually power my car but that's a ways off. I equate an EV with a laptop, not mechanical, more digital. And like any digital device, the tech will be obsolete in a short time (think 2010 EVs). I estimate around 8 years of optimum battery life. I may get less or maybe more. I drive around 130 miles a day so we'll see.

@@t0dd000 I have a Volt, so the wheels are powered by electric motors, and it's a single speed transmission/no gears. DESPITE this I recently had to pay like $3k for repairs involving drivetrain components (had a broken transmission mount, I think a drive shaft, etc)....so just being electric doesn't mean there's no maintenance or repairs. My car doesn't even have 100,000k miles on it yet, and spending more in repairs than I was on my 180,000 mile Toyota Prius.
@Cakebattered2 жыл бұрын
The maintenance schedule for the Bolt only lists wiper blades, in-cabin air filter, and rear hatch struts, as the only items to be replaced within the first 150,000 miles. Yeah, really sounds like a hassle to me.

In this company there is no customer service, the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep your money safe.!!!Share so more people don't get screwed.GM is a big bluff
