The 6.6 was my preference. Trying all 3 , ram, ford , gmc I opted on the 6.6. Gmc 3500 4x4 crew... ram had the V8 feel, and towing was not the best in the torque range, I was only pulling 16k. In all 3 trucks, same load just swapped out the pulling vehicles. Next the ford while comfortable seats, felt interior was missing something. Over steer on the ford, and although quick empty, lacked a towing feeling when towing. The 6.6 gmc quiet cabin, firm balance when empty and towing, great acceleration when towing. The gmc was dialed in perfectly with the drive train. The better steering on the gmc when towing didn't lift front end and inspired confidence with the best control. The easy get to for all the engine components and maintenance on the gmc is way better than the other 2 contenders. Plus after seeing other reviews and the 7.3 disasters without ford backing their customers left me as a no trainer.

I have driven both engines in cutaway box truck configurations. The 6.6 drives down the highway like nothing, even with the box fully loaded. The 7.3 on the other hand hits a wall trying to reach 80-85 mph. I would pick the 6.6 any day

@HalfShell the 6.6 is of course at a displacement disadvantage, but it's also running a cam that's small for a 5.3. Simply giving it a bit more camshaft would be a good idea. I'm not saying that it's any sort of advantage that the Ford might not also be able to use. But I am saying, it's artificially held back more than is necessary.

@@blackice7408 that's not fully true. It definitely matters to have good low rpm torque, but horsepower also matters. You can make up for a softer torque curve with gearing. The reverse is not true.

Ford's new 6.8L gas motor is rated at 405HP and 445 FT LBS of torque. I think Ben said that Chevy 6.6L was rated at 401HP and 464 FT LBS of torque(?). I thought these chevy engines, in the HD 2500/3500 were rated at 420HP? So, I'm not positive about the Chevy power numbers. If Ben could clear that up, it would help. The Ford 7.3L Godzilla is rated at 430HP and 485 FT LBS of torque FOR THE YEAR 2023! I have the 2020 F-350 Lariat 7.3L Godzilla, the first year of the Godzilla and that first year was rated at 430HP and 475 FT LBS of torque. Ford DID up the torque a tad, from 475 to 485 for the 2023 Super Duty Godzilla engines.

I then drove a 22 f250 6.7 power was good, ride was better but felt real heavy in the front end and steering was harder on the diesel vs the gas 7.3. Then drove a 22 f250 crew cab gas 7.3 15k miles and that ride was terrible too. Then drove a 22 chevy gas 2500 and holy shit it drove great empty vs the fords because of the front IFS system on the gm hd trucks. To me if I''m going to tow my camper 8 times a year, then haul stuff maybe once a month or two, I would rather take the ride of the Chevy vs the Ford beating the crap out of you like a log wagon. @HalfShell ya ya 7.3 issues are over blown, but not the chevy burning a little oil, get out of here fanboy. you ford boys have overblown the oil problem on the chevy so could feel better about your shitty 7.3. last I checked 1 in 500 engines have lifter problems on new trucks, that is a big issue to me. my 5.3 has had oil consumption for the past 15 years, you just have to add a little every so often.

I worry about potential problems with both GM & Ford gasser engines but mostly north of 100k miles... If you rack up miles quickly, look at diesels. I am biased towards power strokes for 200 - 400k mile usage, if you need higher than that, then get Cummins for reduced labor costs during repairs.

Ridiculous review. “ the ford had a solid axle front end and the Chevy has independent. Wow are they different”. …… HOW, lol. No information, just stats which you can get from the respective websites. Utterly useless review.

Ford and GM use the same 10 speed . GM is just Allison branded
@anthonyc993
@anthonyc993 Жыл бұрын
@@carltongray3302 that is incorrect. The ford transmission is designed and built by ford. The gm transmission is built by gm and not Allison. Gm uses the Allison name as Allison approved the design and branding it an Allison. Now for the ford and gm half ton trucks those were co designed by ford and gm.

Great vehicles for wasting money in a purchase of these over-priced vehicles! Also, great at gas guzzling (crying about $4 a gallon) and running at 12 mpg. Also top notch at pumping out environmentally dangerous exhaust. Hey, maybe a tank would be a better investment!?

@Sc Yes, a couple of them are parked down my street. They go by my house shaking it like tanks. Oh, and after time, they showed me that they are truly work trucks. My nice road has been ripped apart, partly by these work behemoths. I saw a large chunk of concrete fly up as one drove by in front of my home. The work? The road will have to be now repaired!

@Ken Bacon NO, I know the game the car makers are playing. They are brainwashing the public to buy big behemoths to usually carry around one butt. On top of that, they persuade the suckers to buy a vehicle that cost twice the price of a sedan, gets poor gas mileage, and on top of that, they are charging the sucker 20% over MSRP!
