Engine is a joke for $1.1M...
@mattpharois97198 ай бұрын
[US] aircraft piston engines are all jokes. They still, in 2023, burn shittons of TEL (Tetraethyl Lead, the lead in leaded gas). The LL in 100LL (Avgas that non-jets use) is supposed to stand for low lead; it’s not low. The Continental IO featured is a planar 6 (3 left, 3 right) pushrod steel-blocked engine. Cars today can crank out better power with lighter engines more efficiently. Octane can become a problem, especially at altitude, but we have high-octane unleaded fuels and have had them for a long time.
@airops4238 ай бұрын
@@mattpharois9719 Unleaded 100 octane fuel compatible with all piston aircraft engines exists and has existed for a while now, it's just blocked by bureaucracy (and certain private industry + lobbyists). There is some innovation in piston engines, such as Rotax, and diesel and Jet-A pistons, etc. but you won't find any of that in the $1.1M Cirrus. It's just a really bad value.
