2023 F-350 Super Duty loaded to 24,500lb. First “heavy” towing with this truck.

I have a 2020 F350, love the power and confidence I have towing my RV. Notice any shifting issues? I don’t have any after 72k.

F450 will squat less. This comment is coming from another gentleman who had much experiences between F350 / F450. "A lot of good data and points to ponder, I will toss in my thoughts after 5 F 350s and now a F 450: Total miles and years and about 300k and almost 13 years of ownership. They have been working trucks on my ranch and I am payload heavy at 6k lbs. The F 350 and I loved every one, but it clearly plays at the very top of its game, I max out on every F 350 I have owned its first stop out of the dealer is at Truck shop to help that sagging rear end and Improved shocks & a Hellwig BIG WIG Swaybar. My F 450 at about 25k miles needs NONE of that. - Use as is with heavy payload. YES, they are both rated at 14k lbs aka Fed CL 3 Non-comm , at 14001 you become a Class IV Commercial-truck. If that is the case then why does my F 450 NOT sag and all of my F 350 did? They have the same exact spring pac??? That said they both use a M 300 Dana axle, however they are NOT the same axle: " - From another gent. And payload for F450 is around 5400 lbs and towing capacity may be around 30k.. I know we don't want to go over GVWR, but for safety sake, as long as I am below GVWR, I would choose F450 over F350.

Thanks for the comments! It's a tough call. We specifically chose the F-350 because it's got more available payload than the F-450 (pickup). They're both rated for 14K total, but the 450 has heavier & stronger axles / tires, etc, so those components use up more of the 14K total GVWR. As it is, our truck weighs 8,700lb with a driver and "some" cargo and 1/4 tank of fuel, which leaves 5,300lb payload. The hitch weight brings the truck's total to 12,500lb which only leaves 1,500lb of wiggle room. The extra 900lb of dry weight that the F-450 carries, would devour the vast majority of that -- and put us a lot closer to legal (or safety) problems. So that's the reason for going with the F-350.

Have you experienced any drivetrain vibration. I have the same truck and going through some vibration issues. Driveshaft has already been replaced and now it’s back at shop 2,000 miles on it.

Sorry to hear about it! No, we haven't had any issues. But our 2003 Ram 3500 had a ton of vibration, and eventually (after A LOT of digging) we figured out it was a bad carrier bearing. Not sure if your shop replaced it when they did the driveshaft?

Any oil consumption issues? It seems the Chevy, I believe the 3 liter, uses quite a bit of oil.

I have it on my ‘20 F250 Platinum with the 6.7 and it works great! If you’re in a cold climate area, definitely recommend it.
