I would love if Ford could give me an honest reason why the tail shaft is causing vibrations, and how it can be fixed permanently Since my 2012 Wildtrak is 10 years old, and way out of warranty with 289 000 km on.I think it's called customer care. It will be great to know why.

Great review again. Thank you. I test drove the V6 Sport yesterday and its simply incredible. A huge difference to my 2020 Wildtrak 2.0 Bi turbo. Plenty of power, super quiet and smooth over the numerous potholes on the test drive. Seats and steering wheel are also a huge improvement to the perfectly good outgoing model and the screen (although the smaller 10" version) was just right. The issue of vibration from tail shaft at high speed for some of the V6 models has already been identified and Ford is resolving the issue here in Australia for those cars that have already landed.

Hi Paul, Great review as usual. I've had my V6 XLT for a month or so now, replacing a PX2 XLT. The PX2 was a great vehicle but this is something else. Boy the new ranger is tall and warrants the step in the rear of the tub. There are some issues however and I'd like to share them with your following and would appreciate their feedback also. Dissapointments: - You have to hold up a relatively heavy bonnent with a stick. ie no struts. - The tyre fittment looks a tad skinny. - The Auto Stop function 0n/off needs to be reversed. i.e Turn it on when you want too, not the other way round. - The bar graph taco is useless. - The biggest lag off the mark I've experienced. Safety Issues: - You have to take your eye off the road needlesly either turning the Auto Stop function off or whentrying to find the Sports Shift buttons. - I dont know if its just my vehicle but driving in rain is outrageously noisey from the windscreen through the roof area to the rear of the cabin. Driving under trees after rain is like put your head in a tin bucket and hitting it with a stick. I never had this problem with the PX2. The safety issue is that the noise overides any voice commands or phone conversation you make. Therefore it negates the handsfree ability in rainy weather. People on Mobiles again?? This is a great vehicle dont get me wrong its technology, comfort, stabilty and quiet ambience (apart from the above) is sublime. Cheers

The tire size is all about fuel economy and so is the start/stop functionality. Unfortunately the EPA in the US runs their tests with the default setup that they get when the vehicle is turned on. I hate start-stop and so do a lot of other people. That is why there is an aftermarket device that lets the vehicle remember the last setting and restore it when you restart the vehicle. Ford doesn't offer a manual with the Ranger now so any tach is really going to be useless. I haven't heard about the noise in the rain, but Rangers are not that common here in the US.

Paul condensation is common on led headlights especially if the car is never driven at night or it has been waterblasted or their has been heavy rain. all you need to is drive with the headlights on for a little while and the head will evaporate the the moisture out of the light housing.

Hey mate, thank you so much for your amazing reviews. Just got my Wildtrack in Luxe yellow and I’m over the moon. This is my first Ute ever and honestly I’m enjoying every bit of it. Opted for 4 cylinders and honestly no issues, a decent engine and drives beautifully on highway and in town (knowing Canberra is not really ‘urban’. Had to wait 6 months for mine; would have been another 9-12 months for a V6, which is another factor behind my choice of a 4 cylinders. As you say in your review of the wildtrack, the engine is very very good. Highly recommended. Cheers, Marwan

Bugs me how a big chunk of screen real estate seems to always be occupied by redundant climate control, especially noticeable with the 360 camera view, it’s so small despite having this great screen available. Starting to prefer horizontal screen layouts, they just seem to use the real estate a lot better.

It’s so mind bogglingly retarded that you can’t get rid of the on screen controls. What the fuck was Ford thinking with that one? Why not make that part of the screen customisable you can have what you want down there. Ford seriously need to put an update out to get rid of the moronic redundant A/C controls. Bloody hell. First time I have watched your reviews and I am super x 100 impressed with it (ranger v6). I HAVE subscribed and currently have a 2018 3.2 and just purchased a boat that reaches the max 3500kg so was wondering if the V6 is a better option. Given that many of the Rangers are purchased for old buggers like me for towing...it would be really cool for you to do a review of each vehicles towing performance. Sure, what you have said can be deduced for this purpose but many viewers (I think) would thrive on a "towing" performance review series as an adjunct to your 'normal' reviews and certainly increase you views and subscriptions. THANK you and great channel you have. All the best. Darren

I have ordered a Wildtrak, mainly because of the interior. As you stated, the XLT interior has been dulled down somewhat, I guess Ford needed to differentiate comprehensively. I feel the colour options for Wildtrak are limited and should have included the red and blue from other trim levels. So I have stuck with "fleet" white, only because I four wheel drive extensively and that colour is the best at hiding scratches and pin-striping. I own a current Raptor in black, and that is one reason I don't use it off-road!! I have to ask, why you publish fuel consumption in US mpg, because their gallon is smaller than ours and when you transcribe across from litres to gallons, it is a little pointless for Australia. For trip planning, I use litres per 100, but for off-road use I calculate in kms per litre because it is far more accurate a measure for changes in road (off-road) conditions. One needs to have a measure of accuracy when crossing the Simpson Desert, especially off-road. I can be down to 3kms per litre for cross-country expeditions. Perhaps you can find out where the auxiliary switch bank (premium pack) are routed to? ie, where do you tap in to use these circuits!!

For an extra $2500 over the XLT you get leather seats, wireless charging, 5 x 18” alloy wheels & in my view a better looking vehicle (black accents including grill, rear bumpers, mirrors & door handles). Due out in October 2022. If you are able to get the vehicle’s VIN, you can track via Ford the manufacture’s progress & delivery. Not interested in racing the vehicle only interested in using it for towing my 2.5T Millard caravan.

The XLT has lost some lustre compared to the earlier PX2. It used to be 2nd in the range after the Wildtrak and was the bling chrome version with leather and tech options. Now it's the "workhorse" and it shows it's now 3rd in the range. The interior feels cheaper and is lacking compared to the MK2. I can't see the $10 grand increase from my previous 2016 XLT.

We found the previous model lacked strength in the rear suspension,quite often causing the Ute to jump across the road in spots of serious potholes , the quick and easy fix was a suspension upgrade but really , build it to handle off road to start with. Fuel tank size is another issue , I want more than a 1000 kms out of a tank and more than 600 when towing . All these things add cost to the vehicle and it’s the same thing on every model So I’m leaning towards the XLT for my next one otherwise it’ll cost 100 k Thanks Paul

I have ordered the V6 Wildtrak …… I drove it and was a bit disappointed with it Re it’s power. I expected a bit more acceleration than what it had to offer. Seen alot of 0-100 times of this new v6 around lately and it's significantly slower than the amarok and even the old Navara 550. Now I know acceleration times aren't everything in a 4x4 but the whole point of buying the v6 is more power so quite shocked they released it so slow.

I tell you this- you will need power and torque solely for overtaking here in Australia because there is no where else you can use either due to constant reduction in speed limits. There are more highway police and speed cameras watching the road than terrorists sneaking up our shores. Why do I say power needed for overtaking? Not sure about the rest of the country, but here in the Northern Rivers area, as soon as you hit 2 lanes or broken lines where you can overtake, the same vehicle in the lead that was driving at a walking pace with 20 vehicles behind suddenly sees the checkered flags waived and goes like the wind. So you need all the power you got to save yourself falling behind again to have to jam your brakes down to crawl OR hitting an oncoming car.

I thought the XLS was the workhorse Better tires and wheels for off rd etch(I have the last one and use it for work). I don't think I will go for the new look, it looks a bit... unattractive and unbalanced think it is the Ute platform that gives it this impression. The big screen is just distracting and probably won't dim enough at night either. Yes, a bigger old engine in it will help pull its weight and improve performance in theory. Great review Paul.

I've used the in car entertainment in the Wildtrak for a couple of weeks now. I like it... BUT... I think they could make smarter use of the extra screen real estate. I've always been frustrated by touch screens in cars trying to jab at stuff that isn't a tactile real button, while being jostled about and trying to mostly keep my eyes on the road. On smaller screens with smaller virtual buttons, I'd find myself bracing my hand with a thumb on the edge of the display to hit the button well with my index finger. I think some of it could be fixed in updates. Eg sometimes a jab at a big virtual button isn't recognised as a press because your finger slides on the screen a little. It's like the touch interface hasn't been modified to make better use of more space. Eg where there are big buttons, it probably shouldn't matter if you jab at it and your finger slides a few mm, just register that as a button press, especially if your finger hasn't slid onto a different button.

I was quoted here in Melbourne, $68000 black xlt with touring pack, standard engine, not v6, I can't believe how much the prices have jumped up. I'm seeing videos saying that the wildtrack v6 engine is around that amount. These videos were made only a couple of months ago. Cloth seats for this amount of money, I walked away without even driving it. I was told I would be looking at a 9 to 10% finance rate. No thanks.

Where did you get that price of $69000 for the v6 model?
@xj358
@xj358 2 жыл бұрын
@@jK-ed8xgThose are the exact prices as quoted on Ford Australia when you stick in the relevant post codes. Some dealers will knock off around $1k whilst others are sticking to the Ford estimated cost because they are allegedly in demand. Whilst there is no doubting that you may have to wait a few months for certain models, that doesn't mean numbers are limited. So no reason for dealers to not offer a deal. I actually got quoted by a Sydney dealer just last week $76,000 on the road for a 3.0 V6 Wildtrak.
@xj358
@xj358 2 жыл бұрын
@@jK-ed8xg If you've got a good credit score then you shouldn't be looking at any more than 5% interest in a new car as its effectively a secured loan on the value of the vehicle. My last Ranger was financed through the Ford dealer but through their Nissan side as they offered better rates than Ford finance. I put just $500 down and the rest on finance at 4.8%. You are likely to get even better rates if you seek out the loan yourself.
