Insanely modified that is, this particular model. I've driven the Type R and the front end is very lazy, the car tends to understeer quite a lot. This one is super sharp and oversteers in every corner. Clearly modified suspension compared to stock just for this lap. Not to mention if they sold this setup to the public 99% of people would bin the car the first time they'd drive it above 5/10ths.

Impressive use of 6th gear (4 times). No other driver of the stock FL5 has managed that on the Nordschleife with the usual longer gearing they have in 6th. I for one am shocked that a professional racing driver got different characteristics out of a car than an accountant/YT vlogger. Also this is the CTR-S edition, as noted in their press release. Similar to what Renault did with the Trophy R, but Honda changed MUCH less than they did from the stock car.
@Chocofur Жыл бұрын
@@JacobMueller how do you know if they've changed much less if the spec of the car is not even available? Different gearing ratios and turbo boost is not a minor change. Renault didn't change anything in the engine, they've simply removed backs seats, 4 control (which quite a lot of people didn'tt like anyway) and added 2 carbon parts (hood and diffuser). carbon breaks and wheels that were used to break the record are an overkill but you can still get them if you want as an option. Put Cup2R's on Megane and the record will be back at Renault with way more than 0.5s as it stands now for Honda.

The superimposed map of weight transfer shows how good the car performs. Under initial braking the weight is transferred to the front wheels quickly and solidly but more importantly, when he begins to trail brake and put in steering lock at turn in, diagonal weight transfer is great. The outside rear gets weight that is equal to the outside front heading toward the apex, meaning the car is rotating and the driver can hold a consistent lock. The car looks really fun. Even someone like me, not a race driver outside of sim racing, could seemingly drive this car at lower speeds, be challenged a bit, get a thrill and enjoyment without having to worry about being dangerous to anyone around me. I may have to convince the wife to let me buy one of these!

@Jay They don't have to. Everyone knows the Megane is a superior car, and that Honda cheats by using non-stock cars for setting records. Look how oversteery this car is, how sharp the front end is. The rear wants to step out every time he touches the steering wheel. That's a TOTAL opposite of how this car drives actually, I mean, stock. This is why no driver with a Type R ever gets anywhere near the lap times set by Honda, and Megane RS drivers regularly do so and go even faster.

The driver hits 6th gear 4 times (and almost red lines 6th gear) on this lap, which is something a stock FL5 could not do. Honda may have turned up the boost or changed the gearing. Somethings not right here. Im a HUGE fan of Honda but this is quite a letdown if this is all true. They need to address this...
@pepsisummer84294 ай бұрын
This is true, the engine def revs up quicker in this video. I mean, he for sure has near 500+ trq if he had multiple 6th gear red lines.. You can get that kind of TRQ from exhaust/ecubreak / custom tune with PRL IC / bolt ons you can get up to 385-400hp on pump, on e50 /85 tunes 500+ hp 600ish trq. This FL5 has some mods and tune I know for a fact that if you just jailbreak the ECU and retune the car you can get 20whp and 20-50 trq with no mods. this could even have E50 fuel , honda never specified what type of fuel they did this with. You can tell this car had aftermarket cooling and a pro driver who full sent it with no hesitation. it could even have aftermarket suspension or tweaked suspension. Misha full sent a FL5 with bolt ons and the thing overheated while this guy ZERO hesitation from the machine. This car was hand picked by HONDA for a reason. it is the GREATEST FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR EVER PRODUCED and I HAVE ONE AND I LOVE HER! PS: I AM also certain this also had aftermarket tires and wheels. They cheat by using: 1. Diffferent gear ratio 2. Higher turbo psi 3. Lighter weight

@@gw4886 It is a fact, Honda is famous for cheating. The Renault Megane is still number one IMO.

it's still a civic, it's not like they disguised an nsx in a civic, yes factualy speaking, it's not the same same as you get it, but it's kinda the same. think of it as, this version of the civic on the video, is the trophy r version, of the megane, you all know and love, the version of the megane that did the lap record, lighter, slightly tweaked (it costs 80,000 euros).

that engine sounds sooo good. Honda imo has the best engine sounds..especially for the price.. sure you can make any engine sound amazing for an extra $20-100k more, but it takes true engineering to bring an amazing sound at a more affordable price.. I've had accords and even odysseys with amazing feeling and sounding engines. props to Honda.. inshaAllah I will be buying a type R soon.
