The 2023 Lexus RX, the fifth generation for the Lexus core model, is completely redesigned from the wheels to the roof rails, featuring a new global platform, two all-new grades, available Digital Key, Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 and Lexus Interface Multimedia System. The all-new RX is up to 90 kg lighter than the outgoing generation, as a result of material optimization in the main framework components of the chassis and new global platform.
A comfortable, quiet in-cabin atmosphere, refined ride comfort, excellent grip and drive force control and confident driving enjoyment.
The 2023 RX builds on the foundation of the iconic Lexus spindle design and evolves into a new, cohesive spindle body design. This sleek, dynamic design is symbolized by a sense of solid mass. Central to the new spindle body design are the carefully sculpted seamless grille and integrated headlamps that strengthen and evolve the signature design. The refined, low centre of gravity is realized through a mature, grounded stance accented by 19-inch wheels with a dark gray machined finish and colour-keyed over fenders. For those who want a more powerful look, 21-inch wheels are available in luxury colour variations. From the side, the three-dimensional surface strongly flares from the rear door toward the tire to evoke powerful traction produced by the rear motor. From the back, the RX inherits the signature L-shaped light bar lamp with lenses that wrap around to the sides of the body to emphasize a wider, more powerful silhouette.
Inside, the RX follows an intentional, human-centered design with control surfaces tuned to enable a deeper and more intuitive connection to instill confidence and control in the driver - a key element in the Lexus Driving Signature philosophy. Opening the door with just a touch of the e-Latch system, the RX welcomes the driver with available multi-coloured illumination accents, tasteful door trim options and an available panorama glass roof that evokes a relaxing, open space. Driver controls like the available steering wheel switches and head-up display (HUD), available navigation and audio have been designed in a functional, concise layout to minimize driver distraction. Lexus Interface and trials come standard on the RX and a 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display is available.
The 2023 RX will be offered in seven grades: Premium, Luxury, Ultra-Luxury, Executive, F SPORT 1, F SPORT 2 and F SPORT 3 and will be offered in four new powertrain options to help meet the needs of varying guests, including a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) model.
The RX 500h F SPORT Performance introduces a new hybrid electric system for the Lexus brand with a front unit that integrates a high-torque 2.4-litre turbo engine, six-speed automatic transmission, inverter and an electric motor, with an eAxle rear unit that integrates a high output electric motor, inverter and reduction gearbox. DIRECT4 AWD supplies optimal power to the eAxles to provide maximum grip, traction and acceleration in all situations.
The RX 500h F SPORT Performance grades go beyond the current generation F SPORT package for a sportier, more performance-driven look and feel. The RX 500h features opposed six-piston brake calipers, mesh grille, unique front bumper and 21-inch aluminum wheels that exude a wide, confident stance and contribute to aerodynamic performance.
The interior includes a host of F SPORT accents like a perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel with paddle shifters, suede-trimmed interior door trim, F SPORT scuff plate, leather trimmed interior, aluminum interior trims including pedals and more.

My thoughts on the new Lexus RX 2023. Let me start by saying: I love the Lexus RX. Ever since I drove it for the first time a few years ago in Florida, I have been in awe of this car that is so different than the Audis, BMWs and Mercedes that I had driven before (me being from Germany). Frankly I had never heard of the Lexus RX before I sat in one. Anyway, it was love at first drive. This car was quiet and comfy, luxurious with a silky smooth V6 engine and lovely soft leather seats. And once I put my hands on that wooden steering wheel, man, I never wanted anything else. The Lexus RX was a car that didn't make me want to drive fast, like my BMW or an Audi. Instead it enveloped me in relaxation and confident tranquility. Never before have I found myself reaching my destinations more relaxed than in a Lexus RX. The newest generation of the RX now comes with new power trains, modernized interior, and revised optics. And to be honest: I don't like what I'm seeing. Compared to its predecessor it has become lower and wider. The RX's beautiful classic SUV proportions have been shifted to a more cab-rearward appearance, emphasizing its sporty aspirations. Accordingly the hood has become longer, creating a visual imbalance with the shortened rear overhang. New creases on the flank create a dynamic look and the wider rear with the light bar give it an athletic and aggressive stance. The car also seems to sit lower to the ground although no numbers on ground clearance have been released. The interior has been reduced from opulent and plush to sleek and minimal (no doubt the materials are of fine quality). Lexus did not resist the trend to remove buttons and incorporate many functions into a massive screen. The analog watch did not survive and I have yet to see that glorious wooden steering wheel on any press pictures (I have little hope). Why do I like none of this? The Lexus RX is one of the important cars in automobile history. It defined the new class of luxury cross-over which has since been copied by countless automakers. It was the trend setter and it was confident about what it was (and what it was not). It never aspired to being a sports car. It was a luxurious, smooth, quiet family glider. What I see now is a car that is trying to be an Audi or a BMW. A car that is giving up on the things that made it marvelous and gave it a unique character. Sneered at by too many car reviewers (who just don't get the RX) it is now trying to be like the cool kids. Sporty, dynamic, aggressive, sleek, minimal? None of this I want from a Lexus RX. And even if I wanted that: I could just go and buy an Audi.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The new Lexus RX 500H has specs that got car mechanics questioning its longevity: for a 4 cylinder, it supposedly turbo charges up to 355hp and produces 25mpg. Lexus/Toyota also recalled A LOT of their vehicles this year too. It’s obvious that Lexus is trying too hard to cram all the flashy techs into one car to compete with other brands like Acura and the Germans. It lost its “reliable” formula/touch.

I'm a big fan of the RX series, and owned the 3rd and 4th generation. But to be honest, I'm disappointed this time. The front and rear parts seem to be from different cars. The car has lost the brutality of the previous generation. I think the new Lexus front lights should be narrower, more aggressive, and not such a big nose. And the dashboard does not look new, even new Korean cars has more interesting. And it's a big loss that there won't be a v6 now, because a 4-cylinder engine is noise and vibration.

I feel in the same way. The front look was so disappointing. I own ES300H 2019 and RX450hL 2022. However, I have a different opinion about V6 vs V4. Now RX2023 has more stronger electric motor with bigger size of battery and reduced gas engine from V6 to V4. Following that, noise will be reduced than RX2022. The gas engine is now used to generate electricity for motor, not actual driving mostly. It will be more quiet than before. 0-60 mph test shows that it is improved from 7.9sec to 7.4 sec. I believe that the performance would better with 3 miles improved mpg as 33 mpg.

As the outgoing Lexus RX out sales all other luxury SUV brands combined, it clearly appeals to a lot of buyers even with the ole touch pad, spindle grill and hard styling lines (vs a Jelly Bean look). Reliability and high quality interior material coupled with a quiet ride are the reason I purchased one and traded off my 2018 Audi A7 which was fun to drive but extremely high cost to repair and maintain. I purchased a 2022 to grab that reliable naturally aspirated V6. The new model will take some getting used to and the turbo 4 with hybrid drive train adds a lot of complexity but Lexus and Toyota tend to dial in high longevity and reliability in their vehicles. I bet the 2023 RX sales pretty well.

The older one is WAY better looking (inside & out) The new one doesn’t look bad but it almost looks like they did a downgrade in terms of looks. Take the steering wheels for example… the new one looks cheaper in every way. It looks like it took them 1 to 2 hours to design it…compared to the older steering wheel which looks so much better! It looks like they really put thought into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took them 1 month or more of thorough designing on the older one. And this is just comparing the steering wheel. The older model genuinely looks more aggressive & attractive inside and out. It almost looks like they modeled this new one off of the version that came before the 2016 through 2022 (which would be a downgrade).

I like my 2019 RX 350 much better. It only has 19,000 miles on it. The 2016 through 2020 models are more aggressive and attractive looking, Inside and out. Not to mention that they swapped the V6 to the V4… that alone was a dealbreaker for me.

Grills a mistake. Could have done better. Other than that, like the new body style much more than previous models. Looks sleeker. Happy to see the 3rd row gone. Love the heated AND ventilated rear seats as well as climate control. Maybe for the 2024 they'll rethink that grill!

I do like the seats inside, but the screen looks like baby screen it’s not that good actually Mercedes Benz GLE does it better. The grill outside not good especially at the top. The tail lights look so cheap similar with other models like RAV4. To be honest I would remain with the one 2020 RX350 sport.

RX, а старый смотрится богаче, полнее, более совершенным, законченным дизайном, более полноценным внешне, чем новый как копия чего то, а чего, так и не нашли.... Старый внешне более гармоничный и совершенный, а новая - пародия 2015, но типа из будущего. Потеряли всё то, что нашли в рестайле после 2015го, какой он 2019,2020? Не помню, но тут называется старый RX, и он внешне гораздо круче нового. В новом только новый салон превосходит, и может ещё что обновили, что превосходит старого, но внешный дизайн, как Совершенство против Квазимодо.

I really like the old and the new. I presently have a 2010 350RX that I just can't get rid of because I love the way it drives. My 2010 350RX is exceptionally maintained and still looks like it came off the show room floor which is a Testament to Lexus.

I've had the first generation RX 300 bought in 2000. I got rid of the Mercedes and BMW s I've owned. Headaches dealing with the problems. I've had 6 Lexus since then. 3 ESs and 3 RXs. No problem in 22 years. Nada. The only RX I never owned was the second generation. I like the styling of my 2016 4th generation RX much better. It is unique. I prefer the 6 cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Intelligent Luxury when buying a Lexus.

I've owned many cars than usual. Lexus is the most reliable and comfortable car. Doesn't handle like a BMW but good enough for me.
