I saw a german review. My german is not great but they did a track test. The Honda was 3/10 of a second faster but is asks a lot more of the rider (being in the correct gear) while the 636 because of the better midrange is easier to ride on track for most riders. The also said the Kawa suspension was a bit underdamped for track and that the Honda was a lot more precise on track.

I would go as far as saying you could do without the upshifter on it as well, for the exact same reason. The Honda is a stunning bike too, definitely showing its racing pedigree here and it sounds sublime when it gets on the power. It would be the Kwak for me all day long, though my poor back would only let me enjoy it an hour at a time 👍

I recently test rode a ZX-4RR and the new ZX-6R back to back. The ZX-4RR does have a blipper, so, naturally, I thought the ZX-6R would surely have a blipper as well... @@brianzhu7119 I feel like the ZX-4RR has great potential to be an amazing bike, but is ultimately super restricted in stock form. In my personal opinion, the gearing is way to long, and the exhaust is stupid quite. The power was rather underwhelming for me, even for a 400. However, the ergonomics were surprisingly comfortable. Especially compared to the ZX-6R. The ZX-6R has plenty of power to have fun with, but felt very cramped to me. And I am not even a big dude (179 cm or 5'9"). Also, the lack of a blipper on the ZX-6R makes if feel outdated compared to the ZX-4RR. If I would have to put my own money down, I would choose either a ZX-4RR and upgrade it, or buy the previous generation ZX-6R.

@@jaffabaffa Where do you live? The EU model ZX4 is supposed to be unrestricted AFAIK . I ride a lot with two friends of mine, one has a MT09 SP and the other a Z900 RS. I don't really feel left behind when doing normal riding. Obviously i'd be lef for dead in a drag race, but again just going tempo moderato on small twisty roads the ZX4 doesn't leave me wanting.
@jaffabaffa
@jaffabaffa 3 ай бұрын
@@Larry_Mott The EU version of the ZX-4R(R) might be less restricted, but it's still subjected to the EU's emissions and sound regulations (euro 5+). I think that you're either a skilled rider, or that your friends are a bit slow (or not trying to be fast at least). I have not ridden an MT-09 before, but I have ridden a Z900 RS. I can't imagine a ZX-4R being able to keep up with a Z900 RS in any sort of race - both drag and twisties. A good way to gauge the degree to which a bike is restricted, is to compare the stock dyno numbers to one that as been fully "unlocked" with a full exhaust system and an ECU flash. A bone stock ZX-4R makes around 58.5 hp at the rear wheel. When properly unrestricted, it makes around 76 hp at the rear wheel.
@Larry_Mott
@Larry_Mott 3 ай бұрын
@@jaffabaffa 58,5 has to be a US model. Vcyclenut (his dyno seems to be somewhat conservative) claims 55,36 at the rear wheel.. After derestricting he got 68,53 which should correspond well to the EU version.

On my Ducati 748 it takes about 10-15 minutes, but on some bikes I owned it was a right pain in the arse ('14 Fireblade for example).

Great review gents. Two very good looking bikes. I would personally choose the Honda as it is the complete package with the electronics and under-seat exhaust.👌 I had a new GSXR 600 SRAD many years ago and absolutely loved it. These two bikes are the polished refined versions of what we had in the 00’s. They look like Superbikes and I think they have the perfect amount of power to learn your craft on. Nice and relaxed under 6k revs and loads of excitement beyond. Plenty fast enough for the road with handling to match. They both look amazing! 😍 I’ll stick with the Street Triple though because I’m old! 😂

Champagne content gents. Bring back the supersports, I'm getting one. Smooth as 4cyl goodness, and raspy deliciousness. Parallel twins, have an 890 ADV, and it's just not what I want in my sport bike. It just doesn't provide the same trouser stretching emotive.

Good b2b review guys! It really comes down to personal preference. I test rode both on the same day and actually found the Honda to be more refined. The Kawasaki is raw, which was great though. It was a tough decision, but the bi-directional shifter on the Honda, plus the dealer offered me a cracking deal against my RS660, swung it. Why didn’t Kawasaki put a shifter/blipper on it??? Moving away from 1000cc sports bikes (that I have always had) to a middleweight I find these are soooo much better on the road. Great fun! You can’t really lose whichever one you go for.

Great review! 2017,2018 5000 miles R6 still selling for £12k in Autotrader… crazy. I know it’s discontinued for road bike… still a lot of money for a used bike. Btw, I bought a Black 600rr and I had a 2012 636… I found the build quality on the 636 slightly better. CBR resell value is little bit better than 636 for sure.

I love this. What a great comparison. As soon as you get on a litre bike you’ll tell us the extra power is worth it. 😂 I actually really love the look of the Kawasaki, probably because my Dad had the much older version. The Honda has the finish and the electronics package and I’m sure the slightly better build quality. I’d be happy with either BUT I have a thing for the R1 so I’m waiting in anticipation for the full fat test! I remember you weren’t a big fan of that used KR replica R1 you rode previously. 🤔

Been fortunate enough to have a go on the ZX6R for the last 48 hrs as a courtesy bike for my 765RS. Haven’t ridden the CBR600RR yet but really fell in love with the ZX6R. The 765RS is more comfortable though and has a bit more attitude than even the ZX6R, which surprised me, but they’re still great bikes and so involving, smooth and engaging to ride. They put a smile on your face and make you feel great, but goad you in to riding them like a sports bike 😂 Supersport 600’s might be dead, but long live the supersport 600’s. Interestingly, the ZX6R tuned is comparable with the same power as a tuned 765RS but the Kawasaki is a few kg heavier but at least has a 17 litre tank! Great review gents!

Hi ! Interesting point of view. I own a ST 660s A2 and once I get my A category Im thinking about either a 765 RS or one of these 2 supersports. What do you think could be the best ? I really want to have that supersport feeling, maybe a 765 moto 2, but its a naked so im really hesitant. Can't yet try any of them that's why I'm asking your opinion. Cheers mate

@@7Syber I have a 765RS cosmic yellow, tuned, 128bhp at the wheel and really liked the ZX6R!! I myself am wondering why I liked it so much… need to ride mine again as it’s very tempting to change but doesn’t make any sense to apart from the fairing and general Japanese sports bike involvement, inline 4 smoothness and feel. Always loved sports bikes I guess. The 765RS is better equipped, more comfy and has more midrange and attitude. I just have issues I think as I love my 765, but have fallen in love for possibly the wrong reasons 😂.
@7Syber
@7Syber 3 ай бұрын
@@twistandgo3414That’s exactly my thought process, the 765 RS is overall a better bike if you don’t want or don’t enjoy supersports. The equipment on triumph is unmatched and the bike does well for track days and small road trips Having up and down shifter on my 660s I don’t know if I will miss it on the zx6r tho … Still really want to experience a real supersport after trying naked bikes

Bit late to catch this KZbin but been following Honda and Kawasaki decision to bring back he 4 cly screamer supersports bikes. Great decision I have always loved 600 cc supersports. My biking pals didn’t agree. No substitute for “ cubes”. Need to be in the right gear for every corner, at least 9k rpm but boy what a top end. Could keep up with litre bikes on a run no problem. Rarely ever passed them but they couldn’t get away. The new ZX6 is much lower geared than the CBR6 which makes it faster in most situations that you don’t need top speed. The Honda looks like excellent build quality. Difficult decision I would go for the ZX6 for more midrange and I do prefer throttle cables but that’s just me.
