I don’t think it’s superhero fatigue, Venom 3 had a B- and Joker 2 had a D Cinemascore, audiences are just becoming more aware of what’s worth their time, being ok or fine isn’t enough anymore, you have to be a huge crowd pleaser like Deadpool 3 to get big box office now, if anything this should be a sign to work harder to earn comic book movie goers trust again

And former MVPs like Mookie Betts and Freedie Freeman. On the Yankees side, it's Aaron Judge (most likely this year's AL MVP) and former MVP in GianCarlo Stanton. Shohei Ohtani brings alot of eyeballs to these games especially from Japan. I'm not from either of these cities but I'm tuned in this year because I've been waiting for Shohei to play in his first World Series. Also, the ratings for this WS has been better than last year's ❤

I liked Joker so I watched Joker 2. Did not like Joker 2. I liked Venom so I watched Venom 2. Did not like Venom 2 so did not bother going to see Venom 3. I'll sill watch comic book movies as long as the quality is good, but it seems like it's diminishing in quality like the MCU since Endgame and all of the Sony Spiderverse. I hope Matt Reeves' Batman 2 is like what The Dark Knight was to Batman Begins!

I almost never went to the theater before I got AMC A-List. It just cost too much otherwise.

That is on my list but I forgot about it
@fcsuper27 күн бұрын
From my understanding, AMC A-List pays 1/2 the standard ticket price to the studio when you use it to see a movie. That means, even for premium seats in IMAX, the studios only get half of the non-premium ticket. So, AMC A-List would actually drive down the results for movies in their first week of release.
@sandal_thong863127 күн бұрын
Don't know if you can use it for the first week of expected blockbusters or special engagements. Some shows at Cinemark are pass-restricted the first week. And a special engagement of _Kiki's Delivery Service_ is too, so it's full price or discount Tuesday or forget it.

the main problem with marvel right now its that they`ve lost de casual viewer... agatha its a niche show... casuals dont know and care shit bout a secondary character of a spin off of a secondary character in wanda vision...
@sandal_thong863127 күн бұрын
I don't care much about her; in fact I'd like to see her "Horizontal, in a grave!" as Rio said. But I thought I'd go along for the ride and see where it goes. Rumor has it that we should not expect to see cameos in the last episodes, like Tommy, Mephisto, and Wanda. So that could be misdirection to hide spoilers, or it could end really badly with Agatha crying over her dead son.

I honestly believe Agatha’s audience and viewership is almost all Queer fans more than the “core” comic book book fans
@Square-ow7oq27 күн бұрын
Queer fans are part of the "core" comic book fans. Do you really think that queer people just tuned in randomly without knowing anything about the characters? Lmao
@shippendales854327 күн бұрын
There are lots of non queer fans watching it though The issue might be Agatha has too short a run time If it was an hour long It would likely rank higher The episodes are too short too Which isn't helping

Being Superhero used to guarantee box office to an extent, but now filmmakers need to earn it by making actual good movies, and thats fair.

Not sure about other members but having A-List definitely entices me to see movies in the theater that I may not have otherwise or go see something I liked more than once. A lot of those end up being smaller films, "awards" films, etc. a lot of the time...for example, I probably would not have went to see stuff like Conclave, Saturday Night, Strange Darling, The Substance in theaters if I didn't have A-List. I love that about it bc Ive seen some great stuff in the theater thanks to it

It doesn’t help movies that reviewers and KZbinrs say not to watch the movie in theaters or just wait for steaming
@sandal_thong863127 күн бұрын
If we can get down to 3-4 streaming services: Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ w/Hulu, then maybe they can make money and decide to delay movies going to streaming so people won't want to wait 4-5 months for them and see them in theaters.
@aishaalamoudi59927 күн бұрын
Dear Grace, Agatha All Along debuted with 2 episodes. That and the 3rd episode being short is why there's a small drop on Nielsen; the show is doing well and Disney is happy with it.

People just don't wanna go see bad movies. Sony is totally clueless and should stop making these movies nobody wants. Audiences still show up for superhero movies, look at Deadpool and Wolverine, but if they think it's going to be bad they won't' go see it.

I loved Woman of the Hour. It wasn't what I expected, but it kept me glued and freaked me out. I thought it was so well done how the emotions were conveyed. The focus on how a phrase in a conversation, and its interpretation by one side can just change the entire feel of a moment.

Agatha $4.2M are worldwide, Penguin $1.8M only domestic. HBO has no access to international streamjng services where the Penguin is available (Sky, Foxtel, etc).

I think the box office conversation can be summed up to three things for any film: quality, price, and changes in viewing habits (eg streaming/social media). Comic book fatigue is a misnomer. Films of various genres flop consistently and no one ever says it’s because of dramatic film fatigue.

I remember when I was a kid, the entertainment section of the Friday newspaper would have the Neilsen top 100 shows for the previous week, does Neilsen no longer rank TV shows? I would think if they did we could see how shows were doing on HBO as well as Max.

Audiences aren’t going to waste their time or money unless it’s a story and characters they (the majority of comic book fans) care about.
