My Tiggo 8 Pro gets 8.5-9.2 l/100km (mostly highway), and I drive quite "sporty". The 1.6l is more powerful sure, but it's a heavier car, so I'm not sure why the baby 4 Pro has the same fuel consumption. Apart from that issue the interior looks almost the same as my 8 Pro, so if you want a luxury styled small car, the new 4 Pro is amazing.
@erichweggelaar13204 күн бұрын
Wow that is horrendous fuel economy
@vernervanschalkwyk2280Ай бұрын
Try and trade it in and see how much you loose compared to other cars in this segment. Some dealer won'g even consider trading it. But, value for money they are for sure. Actually shows how we are ripped off by the big names...
@Everything.cars.Ай бұрын
You can change the steering wheel to sport mode which will make it a little more firmer
@rizaanjappieАй бұрын
The fuel consumption is a deal breaker. For such a small car to get mid to late 8s or 9l per 100 km is high. My 2020 Ford kuga gets 5s to 6s l per 100 km. If these Chinese brands can fix the high fuel consumption, They would absolutely dominate the market
@undertowsurfАй бұрын
Most reviews never get good economy as they are blasting around. If you know how to eco drive you can punch good numbers.
@nathanaelbartholomewАй бұрын
Fuel consumption is high on these cars for real. My trip from JHB to Durban averaged 6.9. That is high. Especially for the power output of 108kw. I am able to average 8l in sports mode, 7.5 in eco mode. The Mazda cx60 averages 9.2 . I might as well get that Mazda and try my luck with it.

I bought one and it's far more efficient than the Nissan Qashqai and Renault Captur I own. On the highway I average 6.1L/100km. Love this car.

Lol what nonsense. I have a Captur Turbo and get in the 5's with mostly city driving....

@@nataliesamson3001 I'm talking about fuel consumption. Even the manufacturer says their fuel consumption is higher than that of a Captur. Not sure why you changing subject to value proposition....

This is very dependent on the model and your driving style. I regularly get under 6L/km in my new 1.3l Captur

@carlolinks5492Ай бұрын
Fuel consumption in my opinion is mainly due to driver behavior. I have a 2022 CVT spec, and I initially struggled to get it below 8.8l/100k. Chery has also recently upgraded their fuel consumption software on these CVT variants, and now I comfortably sit on 7.2l/100k, town driving
@nataliesamson3001Ай бұрын
Did you find you needed to break in the engine to get better consumption? I assume the new cars will be heavier as the engine needs to kind of settle in

It really doesn’t matter what you feel about the Chinese entrants, the real question is why are the cars of the legacy car makers so exorbitantly expensive ? For example, not too many years ago, one of the burning questions was why the BMW 3-series (manufactured in Pretoria) are so much more expensive in SA than the very same models exported from SA to Australia ???!! In short, the answer is because they can. In other words, if you are a sucker to pay what a car manufacturer is charging, they will continue to treat our market as the super-profit centre it is. In other markets, the competition is such that the same tactic only gets them a loss of market share. In SA, we consumers ARE the problem for accepting this.

tiggo 4 had a gearbox failure after just over 5000km, went to a Jolion and SO impressed, getting 8,1km/100. best move

It seems that the jumpyness is the DCT trans. Most DCT's are like that perhaps with the exception of VW DCT's and other highend brands.
@DaveDVideoMakerАй бұрын
Chery is now selling the Tiggo 4 Pro in Serbia, but over there it only comes with a naturally aspirated engine producing 70kW and is mated to a 5MT. Fuel consumption rated at the 7 l/100km range.
@weetbix2083Ай бұрын
The legacy brands definitely need to catch a wake up call. Unfortunately free markets are very rare and are the only way to keep things honest. The customer at the end of the day should dictate the success of a business and not the government. Regulation only protects the establishment and reduces/excludes competition which is bad for the consumer and innovation. Regulation has short term benefits but long term problems. The Chinese cars are worthy considerations and have taken a lot of sales from Audi, Mercedes, BMW as they offer the same style and features at a fraction of the price. Most people who buy these brands dont keep their vehicles for long so maintenance is not an issue. Also to consider, not everyone drives a car like a wine connoisseur so they do the job just fine. There is enough refinement, tech and style to make it premium enough. I find it interesting they tried a DCT to reduce fuel consumption as a CVT is considered the most efficient transmission.

I still feel that those engines are designing for hybrid use. They need the electric motor to get the fuel consumption properly down. But the DCT would be enough to put this on my “maybe” list.

I wish the Sonet was priced like the Chery. It use to be, they sold a lot but now....I mean like in a year the Sonet went up by R 70 k. Thats insane. Chery tiggo pro 4 went up with 10 k. Kia feels overpriced. For the price of an entry level picanto you can get an suv... I don't understand what is happening with Kia. They use to be like Chery and Suzuki. Well priced, well built, plenty of spec and great fuel consumption. Is someone trieng to be greedy? Their sales have tanked. They use to be in the top 10 sales in South Africa now they are off the list and I don't think they are coming back. Brands like Suzuki, Chery, Nissan, Renault, Mahindra.... can all have an compact suv with enough spec below 300k. I am a huge Kia fan but they are losing me. I feel ripped off. For the price of an entry level picanto you can get the new Suzuki Swift top spec manual. It's fuel consumption is like a diesel. Kia has shot themselves in the foot big time. The previous xline was 260k now thats entry level...RIP KIA

We should thank Zuma and BRICS for all these affordable cars otherwise we would be suffering R1million just to get a decent car. Most of us would be driving a halve brood by now or be in serious debt with large balloon payments🤣🤣🤣 . Also when i c who is driving these cars its actually white ppl, those that actually complain the most about BRICS and Chinese products. Black and Colored people are still showing brand loyalty to the "legacy brands" for some reason. I hope RamaDollar dont undo all this by instruction of his western puppet masters and implement their way of removing competition with Chinese import bans and restrictions.

Anyone who has this car when it was first released, what's your fuel consumption now that the car has long since been run in and at least the first three services done?

Over financed terms the fuel cost negates the great starting price...Manufactures are moving away from DSG now. A well tuned torque converter auto is a better driving experience IMO

The issue with chery is after sales service and trying to trade it in to buy another vehicle. Dealers straight up do not want their cars. Had an issue with the Tiggo 7 Pro max AWD which is supposed to be one of their best vehicles. The chery dealer did not want to assist and the only way that we got the issue sorted was to contact Chery Headqaurters SA and China SA division. Purely based on the after sales service experience, I would not reccomend Chery.

Yes "legacy" car manufacturers are expensive but they cannot compete on pricing at the same level that Chinese companies can for one very simple reason, the CCP helps them. They give them subsidies and financial aid. Protectionism in the Domestic Market . The Chinese government also imposes various regulations and standards that make it difficult for foreign carmakers to compete domestically. This allows Chinese companies to dominate the local market, giving them a strong financial base to expand globally. The government gives them R&D funding where "legacy' manufacturers have to fund themselves and have their R&D stolen by China. The goal for China is to dominate the Western market to the point where they are the sole suppliers in everything and when that happens they will jack up prices and we will be left without choice since there will be no competitors, remember they are playing the long game here.
