Yes, priced one out here in Canada. $145K out the door for the Lariat. Way too expensive, battery too small. Could not make ROI work compared to even a diesel F350. Tech needs to improve and prices come way down. But will look at EV options annually as I can charge at the shop with PV panels on roof and batteries, currently sending more to the grid (credit) than consuming, except for the winter months. Ok, not fully there yet but my goal is tell all those energy companies to take their energy and put it where the sun don’t shine!!!

Go over a mountain pass in cold weather or tow anything and the range will go to 150 miles. Just not enough. We have an Ioniq5 and can get 240 mile range in winter but still have a bit of range anxiety when the charging network (Electrify America) isn't perfect. It is nice to not buy gas though and you should factor the up to $7500 rebate and the gas savings when you decide. We got 2 free years of Electrify America (18k miles driven; that's about $3k worth of gas for a car that gets 30 mph) and now I'm charging at home on my solar panels for almost free. Even if you charge at the EA stations, a full 77 kwh tank on my Ioniq5 (280 miles) only costs about $35 compared to about $50 for gas

As someone who drives a tractor-trailer I have to admit the it's not the good career it use to be. Motorist on the roads are in their own little world and oblivious to anything going on around them. They pull out in front of us and stop to turn onto the next street putting themselves us truck drivers and others on the road in grave danger. During Covid we were hailed as heroes for working thru keeping America going now we are looked at as 3rd class citizens.What they don't realize is without us driving those trucks the country would completely shut down in 3-4 days. Now as for the F-150 Lightning I would buy this over the Cybertruck or Silverado EV solely on looks. That being said my first choice if I was in the market for an electric truck I'd get the Rivian R1T.

Ford should offer a lowered, more street oriented version of the Lightening. I think it would sell. Face it, you're not going to tow with an electric truck and unless all of your jobs are within a small radius from home, contractors aren't going to want to have to manage charging times in a busy day.
@mitchellbarnow170911 ай бұрын
This range is not practical unless you live where the winters are not cold. I would wait to buy any electric non-Tesla vehicles until they can any and all of use Tesla's Superchargers. If you don't have a garage or at least a 240 volt charger to keep your battery warm, I would not buy this short range Lightning.

Range isn’t an issue. Charge stations are. It’s so rare people need more than 200-300 mile range. Loss of range definitely hurts in winter potentially. I think there’s a large market for EV trucks but the problem is they’re just too expensive. Just got a used pro for 40k with 6k of options on it. That was my bite price. Ben these trucks are not good at all. A friend has one and while the payload is respectable if you max out the payload your useful range drops dramatically, same with towing capacity. Like yourself he lives in the Rocky Mountains and with the cold winter temps comes a highly diminished battery capacity and life per charge. He purchased the truck as part of a fleet of trucks he owns for his contracting company and it was part of a government incentive program. The truck is part of a fleet of 15 trucks (14 ICE & 1 EV) and the EV truck basically sits idle and is only used 5% of the time since none of his crews will use the Lightning because they take forever to charge and once again the drastic impact of load on battery life. Government intervention in a free market is a very bad thing!
