Nice review Lana! I've had my Sport Glide for 6 years now and absolutely love it. I've made a few mods: 1. El Diablo fairing from LA Fairing Co; 2. A sissy bar with luggage rack; 3. A crashbar from Bungking; 4. Floorboards from Kuryakyn; 5. Handguard wind deflectors from Memphis Shades; 6. A seat cushion from Butt Buffer. All of those have made the bike excellent for both short and long rides. Stay safe and keep up the great work!

I've owned five Harleys over the years, first one in 1992, all but one were brand new, I've always serviced my own bike except for the last Electra Glide, once, I put it in for service to a major dealer because I was traveling when a service was due and they damaged a pannier box whilst it was in their care. They had to order a new pannier, and get the new item shipped to my home, no more dealer services for me. I've found the bikes all super reliable, no issues under warranty I just dont trust the dealers, they are unreliable and don't seem to take enough care.

Great review A couple of notes on your cons: 1 there is actually a rev counter on the digital display you just need to scroll through to it 2 if you misplace your fob just enter the start code - procedure in your manual But yes it is a fantastic bike and if you pop the panniers off which takes 10 seconds filtering ain’t that difficult. Fairing pops off in a few seconds too if you want some more wind on your chest. You also needed to take it on some proper flat out sections and twisty bits to really experience the M8 107 motor.

Definitely one of my favorite Harley. Put Thrashin Supply risers and bars, mid controls and Memphis Road Warrior wearing, Saddlemen step up seat and a Vance & Hines 2 into 1 exhaust and you got a great bike!

I purchased my FLSB in 2018 here in the US. As of this year you can only special order a SportGlide here in the US through HD, and it comes in either black or gray. It is a great bike for the UK and the US as it easily converts from a bar hopper to commuter/touring bike in 3 min by removing the cowling/saddle bags. The first thing you need to buy are Saddlebag guards. They are like the engine guards but they protect the saddle bags if you drop the bike, but most importantly they protect your ribs if you are running without the saddle bags and you drop the bike. They are about $300 for black powder coated ones that you find online and HD doesn’t sell (but should). I had a CVO that I dropped while making a U-turn on a wet crosswalk, and ended up breaking 9 ribs and collapsing/puncturing a lung; as well as totaling my bike . That is when I bought the SportGlide. It is 33% lighter then my CVO, and it won’t let your body hit the ground if you have to slide the bike (as long has you have engine guards and saddlebags or saddlebag protectors). Also the 107 cu/in Milwaukee 8 is almost as fast as the 114 cu/in with the stage 1/2 upgrades. Safe riding

I love my Sport Glide too. It is a great bike, versatile and, for a Harley, quite good value. The best selling model for years, here in Europe. It is possible to add a small "extension" to the front fender, it helps with slpashes and protects the radiator (oil cooler...) from stones too. You can change the seat: Mustang, Saddlemen and, of course Harley. You can fit some risers too, that could help. I changed the front indicators to match the rear, I really like them!! That's the great thing about these bikes: you can really make it "yours"... The only real problem are the roads: in Leicestershire we have so much mud and manure dumped by tractors and builders.... It is really dangerous and the bike is always filthy...

I love to buy Harley but it’s way over priced. So ended up buying a Triumph Speedmaster 1200. I’m 69 grew up riding different mostly Japanese bikes. Couple of years ago I was in the market to buy a new bike. I was seriously looking to buy a Harley but after comparing the prices and talking to different dealers ended up with Triumph. One of the reasons for Harley prices is just unbelievable dealers mark up. Like $1200 inspection fees,$850 docking fees another $700-$850 dollars for installation fees? I’ve paid $750.0 docking fee for my Triumph only. Of course plus tax and license. With all of that the price was cheaper by a good $10K.

Had mine for 6 years, Sport glides are brilliant bikes, you might find you have the same problems as I have had and thats 1, the petrol tank cap rattles after a while and the speedo steams up. Nothing major but be aware as the cap rattles sounds like an engine problem, if you put your hand on the cap and the noise goes away, its the cap.

Sorry guys, I tried all the new stuff, but I will stick with my 92 evo springer. Took it to the USA in 94 for a month. Never let me down. 100k on the clock and still going strong. All you need to enjoy the ride is a bike, not a play station on two wheels. Old school I guess at 72 years. Been riding Harleys since the AMF days when you had to tighten things up every time you stopped.

I don’t think Americans got the sportglide when it came out it didn’t get the 114 engine as an option and it was the most European type of bike in the range. The company dropped it a couple of years ago in America and I don’t think it has much of a future elsewhere as the bike is getting no attention in terms of upgrades ,colour matched pannier shells is about it and the colour choices of black and primer grey isn’t that inspiring . Personally out of the softail range it is the one I would buy I just wish it came in a better range of colours.

I think Harley has lost their mind with the prices, proportionally they have raised them much more than other brands, and selling the bike unpainted, not even in black, is undoubtedly a masterstroke...

I'm 65, and going back the XLCR have a long history of liking Harleys that go on to be market flops. This Sport Glide is the latest one. It seems that any combination of sportiness and practicality is showroom death. Is this really a 2024 model? Here in Canada it's no longer available. It's pretty much been replaced by the Low Rider ST. I prefer this version with 2 into 1 exhaust, lower bag position, and smaller fairing. Oh, and I like the red boots too. "..and the angels wanna wear my red shoes."

That’s what all the keyboard critics say. If you can’t glance at a tank mounted speedo or use a perfectly matched braking system for a cruiser, then DON’T buy a HD cruiser. 😎

I live in Norway and was in the main dealership in the capital yesterday. They had a Road Glide with a sticker price of 720000 Norwegian Crowns. Thats 68 THOUSAND US DOLLARS. Dont think you get higer vehicle taxes anywhere in the world but paying almost 70 thousand dollars for a motorcycle is just madness
@skymningforelsket13025 ай бұрын
@@Nifilheimur I was curious and looked on Harley's site. The "Road Glide" is almost identical to this "Sport Glide". List $25,999. I was wrong about the colors. It's offered in 7 additional colors, for an additional price of $850. I think out the door cost would be about $29,600 with tax and delivery. The tax in Norway is punitive -- clearly they want citizens to buy something other than a Harley. The United States tends to impose little if any import taxes; however, the consequence of this is that wrecks domestic manufacturing and puts people out of jobs and lowers the pay of those who still have jobs . Cheaper products, but no prosperity enough to buy things.

Tank mounted gauges on a Harley go back for decades and decades. It's a styling design ingrained in the HD lineage. It is a pain though to glance down when riding. Disc brake wise, I have read accounts that the HD stying/design dept. did not want a disc on both sides as view of the cast wheel would be obstructed. Ridiculous imo. The front brake is "adequate", but it really needs a second brake disc when weighted down with a passenger and touring gear. Also, the bike is still pretty heavy at 700 lbs./317 kg.
