I’m in the market for a midsize truck. I don’t need a truck, but I want one. I don’t tow, I don’t off road…but I make enough purchases at Home Depot, hauling lumber and mulch, taking yard waste and big things to the dump, hauling mountain bikes, etc…which makes me want to have a truck. My heart says get the Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon due to the looks. But I get scared off from all the problems they are having. When I compare them to the Ridgeline, Ridgeline just makes sense to me. I love the trunk in the bed, and although the bed is shallow, it’s wide and I feel like I can do more with a wide trunk than a deep one. The back seat storage is best in class. The Colorado / Canyon’s back seat storage is pointless. The Ridgeline cabin is just more spacious due to the width. I love that my young kids don’t need to have to climb a mountain to get in, and the stadium seating. When I test drove the tucks, the Ridgeline is just so smooth. I’m not sure I’ll love the bounciness on my commute to work every day. To me I’m 99.9% sure I’ll buy the Ridgeline within the year. I try to talk myself out to buy the Colorado/Canyon, but every time I look at them I get drawn to the Ridgeline more. Although I thought about a big truck, I just don’t want to drive something so big as a daily driver. I want something easy to drive and park. And mostly, I want something to fit in my garage. Plus, I like to have more bells and whistles, and to go with a full-size truck means that I’ll need to get something basic as I would like to keep it under $50K

Comfort adjustments,speed 6 speed transmission makes this little truck very quick. Technology:the lane keeping and warning systems allows hands off the wheel highway driving. All the key fob remote features. Rear gate sideways opening and sunken trunk perfect for hauling . In addition a superior sound system. Decent 20 mpg city . The vehicle is VERY well thought out with fold up rear seats and rear window ventilation. Air conditioning cools the cab immediately. I don't at all regret purchasing this vehicle. .

I bought a ‘24 Radiant 😂Red RTL three days ago. Without any haggling, but requesting an Out the Door price, the dealership slapped on a 2K discount from MSRP. I also got all costs for the dealer fancy-dancy ceramic-coat protection & interior protection packages also dropped (almost 2K!). They did try to low-ball my trade-in though. But that was finally adjusted 3K higher. I had zero difficulties negotiating at the dealership for the red Ridgeline I bought. I have bought many cars over decades, and most, if not all dealerships are flexible on selling price if you remain courteous and come across as a serious buyer. The truck I bought will meet the payload needs that I have. Put 120 miles on it yesterday breaking in the engine. Suspension (as suspected) is a little like a Land Yacht. Brakes could use some improvement. Otherwise great little truck, with some clever & unique design features not found in the other small trucks. My neighbors think it’s beautiful.

I bought a new Ridgeline last summer and saved $3000 off sticker and got 2.9% financing for 5 years. Mine has leather/ sunroof, RTL model and was $16,000-$17,000 cheaper than a mid level Silverado/ F-150 at the time.....I didn't need a large truck .. and drove a Tacoma on a long road trip (rental) and didn't like the ride, transmission and the size inside....I don't go off roading .. and smooth riding/comfort/ reliablity was very important to me. The Ridgeline after one year has been a great truck for what I need it for. I sometimes drive in a very urban area so having a full size truck would be a pain to park in tight parking lots etc. The reason Ridgeline sales have been bad the last few months .. is that Honda dealers have a stop sale on many of these until parts come in for the rear camera ... my local Honda dealer has several on their back lots labeled Not for sale...you can only buy a select one, so limited supply= hard to find a saleable unit at this time.

The thing in favor of the Honda over basically everything else (surprisingly including Toyota this year) is the engine is not only an NA V6, but it's also a reliable and proven model. Chevy, Ford, and Dodge have been suffering in reliability the last few years and it's not helped by the fact that they're moving towards forced air 4 cylinders. Toyota is usually the go to for reliability, but this year the new engines are nuking themselves. If people got over their ego on the "it's not a truck" crap the Ridgeline would be considered the best midsize of 2024, easily.

@Combat55626 күн бұрын
TWO DRAWBACKS on the current V6 in the Ridgeline 1). Variable Cylinder Management (VCM). The engine will go into eco mode when decelerating, and it’s running on 3 cylinders. VCM will eventually cause excessive oil consumption. 2). GDI or gasoline direct injection. Valve coking will become an issue, and maintenance will be required. The fix: buy a VCM tuner and defeat the VCM, and add an oil catch can to minimize the crankcase vapor/oil/water being drawn into the cylinders. Use high quality oil and gas, and change oil more frequently.

So long-term the Ridgeline is the way to go!!!!

I looked at them yesterday, still a stop sale, but $2k off MSRP. Compared to the competition, this comes out on top for me for numerous reasons. The bed/tailgate design is genius, high payload capacity, roomy interior and the Honda V-6 is better than any turbo 4-banger imo. The Ridgeline is not the best for off-road or towing, but for practicality, comfort and reliability it definitely wins. It’s enough “truck” for most people but people’s ego and the opinions of others gets in the way. It’s funny, when I was younger I would laugh at the Ridgeline. Agree with what you are saying, to a degree. I'm waiting till later in the year to decide on replacing my 2009 F-150 Lariat 4x2. I want AWD/4WD, leather/pleather interior, something my wife can more easily climb into, and that we can travel in with my 140lb Great Pyrenees. The Chevy, when you put 4x4 on it, cheapest ones are about the same as a Ridgeline Sport at ~38K. This isn't really a fair comparison though IMO, the Custom 1500 is very very plasticky and cheap inside including its infotainment and all switchgear. At that level, it doesn't even have any outright towing or payload advantages, and the engine is greatly underpowered vs the Ridgeline. Other than outright interior space and bed space, it's inferior in just about every way. A more equal comparison would be the LT, which has much better interior and infotainment, and more towing capacity due to the upgraded TurboMax version of the 2.7 4cyl. But now you are talking 44K+ at market, which is near top of the line Ridgeline. Really a better current gen rip-your-face off kind of comparison to a full size truck would be the heavily discounted Titan with its 5.6L V8. You can literally get a 4X4 Crew Cab Titan V8 for ~40K, same as a Ridgeline Sport or right around an RTL. Those Titans have all the needed safety and tech (blind spot, adaptive cruise, Carplay/Android Auto). But the Titan is being discontinued, and is even taller than an F150 so ingress/egress is an issue. Decisions decisions.

The first gen. Ridgelines were better build quality; the second gens. especially '17-'19' were quite frankly, awful... flimsy tailgate actuators, rear doors had the wrong door-checkers installed, engine-hood fluttered up and down at higher speeds especially in crosswinds, no lock on the tailgate... I had this thing, a 2019 RL, for about 2 years, and it was always being recalled for something. Finally, the transmission failed at 48k mi... there was an extended warranty for it, but it wasn't issued until several years later after many folks payed our-of-pocket. Soon after the transmission was replaced, there was another recall for possible defective piston-rod bearings. Even if the transmission is warrantied, they won't replace it until total failure, even though the 6ATs were known to have design-defects. This took several months before complete failure, and I managed to limp it to the dealership. As soon as the transmission was replaced, I took that stupid thing straight to CarMax and did an even trade for a used Tundra... I traded a Tundra for the RL previously, and I regretted terribly after about one year. Those 2nd gen Tundras seem incredibly tough and reliable... I wanted something with better mileage and for some light hauls, hence the RL, but sheesh. Also, those RLs, the transmissions require routine service every 30k mi... drain, flush, fill... and it ain't cheap, about $900.00; I spent a lot of time at the dealership with that thing, good riddance. There's a number of reasons why folks may think RLs are not 'real trucks', but the primary complaint in the RL forums is the weak transmission in these things. No matter the tonnage, a pickup with a weak transmission is just useless. I wish I'd done more research.

Don't need a 4WD vehicle. 2WD is fine. 4WD = more $.

Most people don’t need it but when you need it and you don’t have it, it sucks It does cost more and it’s also heavier so you do burn a little bit more fuel, but the cost difference will it resell for more?? Than a non four-wheel-drive??

I've always liked the Honda Ridgeline nice-looking vehicle. But it's not a truck. Trucks are body on frame vehicles. That's what makes them a truck.

is a ford maverick a truck?
@bigrr644 ай бұрын
@nintendylan7449 in my opinion, no, but to each his own, if you like the vehicle and it suits your needs and you want to call it a truck, go ahead.

I think the whole NART thing is stupid. Hey go for Chevy and buy 2 in the same time frame a Remidgeline will last. It drives great, I looks great and the Black Edition has a beautiful interior. It’s an all around truck. Not even meant for contractors. I stopped comparing and love it for what it is, A REAL TRUCK! … Agree they should advertise more.
