@truckguyjoe Can you explain the difference between a Silverado 2500HD with the heavy duty tow package and a 3500HD. As far I can tell they are the same rigs. Thanks

Correct. The Max Trailering Package (option code NHT) on a 2500HD provides the same frame & additional leaf springs found on the 1-ton. The GVWR on the 2500HD is slightly less. For example, my 2500HD with max trailering has a GVWR of 11,750. The same truck in a 3500 is 12,100.

I do not believe you can derate a vehicle that’s already been built & titled… Must be done when it’s a fresh order from the factory

That is a sweet ride , i figured you must be busy is gm filling up your lit with trucks last few times your lot was quit empty with inventory. Is gm makeing a 8.3 diesel ? I do have a question on gvw can any pickup be downgraded to under 10K gvw. Joe good to see ya back on

As of now the 8.3 is a rumor...I can not confirm anything. GM is pretty tight lipped on many subjects. As far as de-rated 10,000 GVWR...yes, you can order any 2500HD at a 10,000 GVWR. Not available on 3500HD. I do have several 3/4 ton service bodies I ordered at 10K even. Here are the qualifications: Lowered GVWR, 10,000 lbs. (4536 kg), lowers GVWR and significantly decreases towing and/or payload ratings 1 - C*20903, CC20753 and CC20953 models require (L8T) 6.6L V8 gas engine. (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine is not available on the following models: C*20903, CC20753 and CC20953. 2 - Not available with (YF5) or (NE1) Emissions. 3 - C*20903, CC20753 and CC20953 models require (L8T) 6.6L V8 gas engine. When ordered with (ZW9) pickup bed delete, includes hard touch instrument panel-top pad. (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine is not available on the following models: C*20903, CC20753 and CC20953. 4 - CC20753 and CC20953 models require (L8T) 6.6L V8 gas engine. You do not! The lower valence is removable now. It simply unbolts.

@@truckguyjoe. can the valance be reinstalled in summer time and hide plow bracket? just bought a 24 2500, and installing plow next week. wanted boss but don’t want to see whole bracket, so going western i think, maybe snowex.

@ The bracket may be in the way to reinstall the valance… But if you ever do remove the plow entirely you can put the truck back to stock.

Love that max tow package. Well, I just wish GM would allow us to spec a 3500 with a 12k GVWR instead of the 12.1. For us non-CDL guys it sucks to hook up to a 14k dump trailer and be >26k combined.

They must have recently started putting bfg tires on from the factory.

Correct. They finally offer a mud-traction lug tire as well on certain trim levels.

The sad thing is that 2008 chevrolet silverado never came with Exhilarate switches from the factory.
