Am i the only one who feels this car is overpriced for top end models ? 19 lakhs ex showroom for a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder engine, where competition is offering smooth 4 cyclinder units with significantly more power. They should have launched their 1.5 turbo petrol with the Curvv as well.

Tata Curvv is a job well done by Tata. The design and practicality stands out. Its not perfect by any means but it is quite desirable.

Hey, to clarify - 1) The DCA will save you the bother of dealing with the clutch pedal 2) Dual clutch gearboxes are best on open roads, but aren't as smooth as a CVT or torque converter in stop start traffic. The engine's ready torque amplifies the DCT's low speed hesitation

The second point is absolutely correct. The first point simply wants to convey that as far as comfort goes, buyers will be happy opting for an automatic. Now since the automatic is available only in DCT guise, he used the words "automatic" and "Dual Clutch" interchangeably. Hope that clears it up buddy. Regardless, don't purchase this car if you have the money. Looks like a shit machine tbh.

@@NikhilOnCars the context kinda cancels out the two statements …DCAs especially the dry clutch ones have been notorious for overheating in city conditions ..guess he was just using DCA and auto interchangeably

Tata cars major improvements/modifications required ASAP: 1. Panel gaps,fit and finish. 2. 3 cylinder non smooth engine, also Gearbox transmission needs refinement. 3. Less leg space in both front and rear seats in almost every car compared to its competition due to its interior design. 4. Need a lot more efforts for Service and Maintenance improvements across the country.

Citroen cars perform very poorly in crash tests. Curvv rear seat is for normal people , not for elephants. Me at 5.8 and 74 kg can sit lavishly with two similarly sized friends in the rear seat.

@@bmk7890 yea it is our mistake that we were built like a tank and are 80 kgs jacked up 6ft men and were given proper nutrition in our childhood lol. This car sucks ergonomically. Imagine someone sitting in your car and complaining just because they are too tall Pathetic design choice.

Kudos to Tata Design Team, they have thought a new design Team rather than going simple Boxy design , also the Ground clearance just for Indian Roads where its bumpy and big Speed Breakers and merging the Big Suv looks with car like looks An Indian Car company going and bringing new design and shows Tata has crossed an long Roads

Honestly speaking the Basalt looks more proportional to the Curv ,moreover it is getting a 4 cylinder engine which is more smoother compared to a 3 cylinder

Curvv​ is a nexon plus, it is between the CSUVs and the Creta/Seltos. For Autocar to suggest that it's a competitor to the latter is ridiculous.

My only complain regarding the interior is the absence of physical buttons. And it would have been nice to have had a blended analog/digital instrument cluster for once.

Haven’t driven Curvv yet but my Hyundai Creta diesel sxo AT sucks. Especially the low end torque is worst.

I like the look of this car. Looks sleek. could be a good option for a young family. The rear seating looks tight. The huge price range between top and low end versions must be confusing for the buyer and for the manufacturing plant.

Tata Curvv seem to be a good car. Has good road presence as well. The new engine has received very good feedback as well. Indeed the petrol with DCA should be the best option. Tata cars are known for its fuel efficiency and I think the new petrol should return respectable mileage. This car can be a very good option for couples with kids below the age of 15. The massive boot, good on-road mannerism, high ground clearance, excellent shock absorbers plus all the additional features makes it a great option for long family drives or tours.

@@chadultrapromax1735 oh yes, agree with you. If you are overweight and big frame guy then definitely the front seats won’t be comfortable for you. The rear seat is perfect of kids. That is why in my comment i mentioned it’s a very good for couples with kids.

Had back to back experience of Tata and Kia showrooms. The Curvv was on display. It looks quite good from the outside, but once you look closely you realise that the fit and finish is not upto the mark. Lack of headroom as well as legroom at the back is quite evident. The Seltos in comparison is a much better product with better fit and finish, better space with smooth and powerful engine options. The quality of materials simply felt much better. The only real competitor for this car is Citroen Basalt which sells at a much lower price point. But Tata has priced this compact SUV in Mid Size SUV territory. Price should have been in Nexon territory. I just don't see the value in this vehicle other than it's unique shape. Frankly, to make a coupe SUV work, Tata should have made use of a much longer wheelbase like that of Harrier/Safari. This would have allowed much better head and leg space. Then they could have justified the price tag.

I believe around this time next year, we can expect a discount of 50 to 70k on this car. I checked it out, and the seating is uncomfortable / Poor. For a car priced over 20L, it’s surprising that there are no front cup holders.

This is surprising. Ravi from DDS channel (6'4") sat in the backseat of Curvv with driving position of a 6'2" guy and still had the same headroom as the 5'11" guy here... What is going on here ?!

A 160hp, 1.5-litre version will go on the Harrier and Safari. Doubt that engine will also come to the Curvv.

​@@NikhilOnCars It will. Probably as Racer version or Sport version. Ll of this care but surely after they launch Harrier and Sierra with 1.5l engine. Besides what's wrong with 1.2 l engine. That dynamo cracks up to 250 Nm of sheer torque on kick down!! Not even 1.5 l engine produces that.

A big reason why i had stopped watching Autocar is their bias. They never miss any opportunity to give brownies to the korean cars, they never seem to miss a beat! For them, it appears nothing ever can be as good as them Korean cars, forget being better than them. This review does the same. no surprises

Took test drive today. Curvv petrol 1.2! Felt way too underpowered. I was trying hard to push it to speed up. No excitement in driving. No fun. Was way too excited to buy it but now in doubt.

Basalt doesn't even have 1.5 L engine which is segment standard. It is a segment below Creta, Seltos, CURVV, Elevate.

I dont get the the Curvv, it does not look good at all, it is much lesser practical than its rivals, it has lesser space, it has cheap quality interiors, its engines are mediocre as per the segment aswell. Cars like Creta sell in tons for a reason they have everything except for good build quality(though they are are rated 3 stars still) and honestly trading everything for build qualtiy is dumb. Tata's have lately been disappointing, they need to learn from koreans and mahindra too.

We need a comparison between Creta/Seltos top model (20.5 lakh ex showroom) vs CURVV top model (19 lakh ex showroom). Since it undercuts Creta by 1.5 lakhs, people would want to know if Creta is worth those extra 1.5 lakhs.

Creta is definitely worth that 1.5L dont spend 20L plus on a tata car unless its a safari, creta is way wayy better, its just that curvv has a new design else, nothing is exceptional

Take a back to back test drive with creta and curvv and try to maintain the same speed on both the cars on the highways. You'll know the difference in ride and handling of both.

Brother what you smokin?? It has a good bulky road presence, massive boot and plenty of features. The average height of an Indian male is 5'6. It's a great product for those who want something between a sedan and an SUV

The average Indian male's height is 5 feet 5 inches, and for a female, it is 5 feet 3 inches only . How many Indians are actually 6 feet tall . So it won't be a problem for 90 percent Indians 🤔 .

Diesel is 4 cyl engine. They don't make 3 cyl engines at all. The last 3 cyl diesel Tata has was 1.0 L used in Tiago, which I think they still use for Ace HT and smaller pickups. Rest are 4 cyl engines.

Best thing its the only diesel car in the segment which doesn't need adblue. Plus it uses wet clutch dca, compared to hyundai's unreliable dry clutch dct. Diesel Curvv is the perfect choice to go with!

I happend to drive this car yesterday and I was upset after sitting in the back seat. I barely gelt any difference from my grand i10. I am 5.10 BTW and can't even imagine what 6 footers will face. Honesty not supposed with space. Second biggest gripe is the car is not giving confidence over sharp turns and sudden breaking. Both the Cases the car just slipped of the line

Indian manufacturer should do a true EV now. All these currently available ones are made for both EV and ICE vehicles. A EV which is built from the scratch would have better storage at the front which these cars lack.
