RWD with more than 4 cylinders, like what a BMW 1 series used to be like.
@janakpatel38482 ай бұрын
It is not RWD. They got it wrong. The car is primarily FWD only. It can send 50% of its torque to the rear wheels in some situations. All of that torque can go to one single rear wheel if needed but there is never a situation when the front axle is not getting at least half the power. The power distribution is always varying between 100:0 front to rear and 50:50 front to rear. Never 100% to the rear like the video claims. They clearly did not get their facts right and are spewing garbage out in front of the camera.

RS 3 AVAILABLE INDIA?
@janakpatel38482 ай бұрын
Please get your facts straight. Such an old and reputed automotive journalism magazine making such false claims openly is straight up embarrassing and SHAMEFUL. Not only does it show that you did not bother to do your research right but also the fact that you do not have a proper understanding of the very field that your job is to supposedly report about. Had this not been the case, the stupidity and lack of sound mechanical understanding about your own words be evident to you. The car can not go in RWD mode. It is primarily a front wheel drive car and the front wheels will always been driven by the engine unless both of them are in the air and the LSD locks up. The very layout of the engine and the crankshaft is a transverse layout. They are parallel to the front axle. And no, the new center diff can not send "100% of the torque to the rear" as claimed in the video. Only 50% of the available 500nm of torque can be sent to the rear axle at max. The system mostly shifts the torque split between 100:0 front to rear and 50:50 front to rear as per the needs. But never does it go beyond 50% to the rear. And that is not the specialness of this new diff. A 50:50 torque split is something that is very common on all HALDEX AWD systems. The special trick of the diff of the RS3 are the two clutch packs on the rear axle that control the toque split between the two rear wheels. When both are engaged, the 50% of the torque going to the rear axle gets equally divided between the two wheels. Essentially, each of the rear wheels is getting 25% of the total torque. However, in the Drift Mode, the clutchpack on the inside rear wheel disengages. This enables all the torque going to the rear axle to go to the outside rear wheel. This means that a 100% of the 50% torque going to the rear axle can go to a single rear wheel. NOT "100% of all the torque can go to a single rear wheel".
@janakpatel38482 ай бұрын
I feel ashamed that so called "automotive journalists" from such a respected magazine would not even realize the stupidity they are uttering. Even of they had their basic fundamentals clear about a car's working, they would not have said something on camera that is soo ridiculously impossible in mechanical terms.
@janakpatel38482 ай бұрын
Autocar India is becoming less and less a competent car magazine and more and more a mouth piece for corporate companies to pay and have their new products be advertised. Gone are the days of actual critique and genuine views about what a car is like and how it feels to drive. Now all Autocar India seems to be doing is reading off spec sheets, stating obviously apparent things about a car and blowing the horns with a pre approved script by a manufacturer.

@@dogaredeemer2711 Numbers might tell a story but it's not necessary that the story is always true. An XUV700 has 200 hp and so does any sporty hatchback. Electric vehicles are in general heavier than ICE because of battery packs, also traditional sports car companies such as Audi etc have a lot of years of experience in R&D of handling and overall dynamics of the car which these new EV manufacturers lack. Drive an EV and a traditional sports car both and if you are even a bit of an enthusiast then the difference will be night and day. I know I may come as arrogant and gate keeper but there is literally no comparison between the two. It is just silly to compare cars with just the numbers.
