They are still ramping up production in the Toyota/Mazda joint venture assembly facility in Alabama. The CX-50 is on pace to sell over 70,000 units this year. When operating at full speed the factory capacity is expected to be 300,000 vehicles per year, which breaks down to 150,000 units for each brand.

Great video. I wanted a CX-5 Turbo before they made it, then I wanted a CX-50 Turbo, then I wanted a CX-50 Hybrid... and now that the Hybrid is coming out I can't let go of how much I love the Turbo for its power/towing. Torn between basically +10 mpg, or more power/towing. If anyone knows, is the Lane keep in these newer Mazdas different than the 2020ish Mazdas? My CX-5 has lane keep but it will just do a slight adjustment and vibrate the wheel, it doesnt follow curves/turns like it seemed to in this video.

I get that, it’s a tough decision. Definitely test drive one when they come out to see how you like the hybrid. But remember you lose the most vehicle value in the first few years and that might negate the mpg savings of a hybrid. I actually just drove a couple other 2025s and I noticed what you’re describing. Mazda doesn’t seem to have the best lane keep assist. Our Subarus aren’t perfect, but their lane keep works way better in my experience.

2025 cx50 turbo premium and turbo premium plus have cruising and traffic support (which is active lane centering). Rest of trims have old lane keep (bounces you back into lane when your drift).

Great review! Mazda, please put the 3.3 I6 in this or your CX5’s!

Yep, that’ll never, EVER happen.

Hello - do you have a video how traffic jam assist works? Did you use lane centering more with this car? I see you tried lane centering it worked well but it doesn't even seem like there was any curve on that highway.
@AutomotiveAnonymous2085 күн бұрын
I’m sorry I’m not sure that any of my not yet public Mazda videos show that. But I’ll consider making a video testing their safety features sometime!

I don’t like the placement of the two cupholders (in front of the shifter) because, as Americans, “we like BIG, sugary drinks to give us diabetes….” Yeah, man!

I rode in the premium turbo and found the seat a little uncomfortable. Wonder what they would be like on a long trip?
@AutomotiveAnonymous2084 күн бұрын
Hopefully not more of the same, but they might be in your opinion if that was your initial reaction to them. I have a driving video of one I’ll post soon where I do mention that the seats are a common complaint among some owners.

are you using premium 91 octane fuel?
@AutomotiveAnonymous20821 күн бұрын
No, this probably just had mid grade.

of course it is

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208if hybrid version way much better, then what’s the points to choose non hybrid versions? Any thoughts to share? Thx!
@AutomotiveAnonymous20828 күн бұрын
The hybrid should be really good. The biggest downside I see is that the eAWD system will be much less competent than the system Mazda uses. But if you don’t need a good AWD system then the hybrid could be a fantastic option!

I stay away from turbo engines for naturally aspirated motors. Turbo places undoe strain on the engine components and I wonder i much it'll take to repair and replace worn out parts overtime. as for the CX50, it doesn't seem enough to pose a threat to the Outback. I'm partial to Subaru, but just on outside visibility the CX50 doesn't stand a chance against the Outback. I know one can purchase a turbo Outback and I'd avoid it. On the other hand, the 182 hp banger may be insufficient for the weight of the Outback. The 2.5 L 182 hp is great on my Crosstrek making it fun to drive, but on the Forester or Outback is generally not enough. So can you get a non turbo 266 hp Outback? Good review.

Unfortunately there’s no more higher horsepower 6 cylinder Outback’s. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

It should be faster. No sense giving it a turbo and ending up over 7 seconds to 60

Altitude. While a turbo isn't as affected by altitude, it is affected.
