I'm a new owner of my first EV. It's a 2025 Equinox RS FWD. That's how I found your channel when you folks leased an Equinox and posted a couple of videos on it. I'm not interested in the Ford Mach-E, but I've been watching other than Mach-E videos you've been posting and enjoying the content. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you.

I’m glad they added the heat pump. Watched one of your videos where it was pointed out still no ventilated seats. Not a dealbreaker but good to know. I prefer the shifter on the stalk. If Ford could make an affordable electric Maverick I think that would do very well. They’d have that market to themselves.

The Premium will have ventilated seats. That skunkworks EV truck should be smaller than the Lightning but it is unknown whether it will be Ranger size or Maverick size.

Was there anyone else there at the show? Usually auto/motor shows there is hoardes of people so how you managed this with basically no one else there is amazing unless it was press day but even then. Watching this on the 31st Dec so Happy New Year and look forward to your videos in 2025.

So many choices for EVs now. It's great to see and I hope it continues. I really want an EV but it's hard to beat the practicality of an old school minivan. I haven't seen any similar minivan EVs yet, but I am sure it will happen at some point.

Thanks again for another entertaining and educational year! 2025 is the year where I have to pick my next car and if it’ll be another Mach e. Have to be honest, I’m not that keen on the changes like the smaller frunk due to heat pump and changing the gear changer to the stalk. Being from the UK, I’m not used to having so many things on the stalk but I’m sure I could get used to it and at least it still has stalks!😂 Anyway, all the best for 2025!❤

GM's getting rid of "Ultium" was mostly a branding/marketing change. I think it might have something to do with LG being partial owner of Ultium Cells, and GM wants to be battery agnostic. I also give them a bit of credit because, beyond iONNA, GM was also funding EVgo sites for over 2 years at this point.

48:37 the rear seat leg room is surprisingly large in the Prologue. More than in the second row of an Explorer. They took that space from the cargo area though, which keeps it from being a replacement for the Explorer for us. It’s close though, and we discussed whether or not we could make it work in most situations. I was impressed, but not excited, and when you’re looking at spending $57k, it should be more exciting to contemplate purchasing.
@MachE_VLOG5 күн бұрын
This past year, we have learned to ignore the price more and more. Not because it isn't a factor, but because the deals being offered (especially for leasing) make the MSRP less relevant. Honda has some great deals on these right now. I was sorta shocked that they are allowing OnStar in these vehicles but they skipped SuperCruise and lacks true lane centering.
@rusticroads5 күн бұрын
@ it will be interesting to see what I can wrestle out of the dealers for lease terms on each. The incentives help the cost issue, which is the primary obstacle. These are great vehicles if they were $35-40k! Great video, by the way, as always!

Thanks, Patrick and Liv! Looks like a great Auto Show! In terms about selling mass market EVs, I think it's going to be more than just the price. I do think there's a value proposition that must be met. A lot of the early EVs were actually really cheap, especially by today's standards, but even at $20,000, an EV with 100 to 150 miles of range is a hard sell.

One other big distinction with the Prologue and ZDX is that the ZDX has the 100 kWh battery, so it's maybe a closer direct comparison to the Cadillac LYRIQ. I think they're all valid platforms depending on what people want and need, and I do think it's a valid strategy to partner with another automaker for an off the shelf EV battery, powertrain, chassis, etc.

I think the lease deals on the Prologue are definitely a big part of why it is doing well. Also the CarPlay. But I think the other thing is the allure of normal. It looks normal, has normal door handles, normal buttons, switches and knobs. A normal sunroof that opens. Normal screens. And a kick sensor in the back instead of a proximity sensor. And most of the modern tech that you would expect. Supercruise would have been good, but I guess that was a bridge too far for GM or Honda.

Also offering ability to work on it on ur own garage. Hope lay my own hands on it 🙏 at Pittsburgh auto show for 2025 .. maybe able see the new ID bus at that show or dealer .

I was a Toy/Lex loyalist for over 20 years until I looked at the bZ4x / Solterra. I was specifically looking for an EV and switched over to Ford and got an MME. Unless Toyota actually commits to an EV that doesn't cost 10K more, doesn't go 0-60 in 7 secs., has less than 300 miles range, and charges at less than 100KW on average, I'm not going back. I know I'm just one person but I had planned to be a Toyota buyer for the rest of my life. Not anymore unfortunately.

In regards to Tesla and FSD, I definitely agree that systems like Blue Cruise and Super Cruise satisfy many (if not most) drivers' needs, and personally, I'm of the opinion that these advanced driver assistance systems should be limited to highways by regulation anyway. Is it cool that FSD can operate in a construction zone, school zone, residential neighborhood, etc.? Sure, but that doesn't mean it should be allowed to. The risks if something goes wrong on the highway are just as high, but the people there are protected by their own vehicles. When you're talking about areas with a lot of pedestrians, they will have a hard time getting out of the way or surviving any sort of direct impact. Also, there are very strong metrics indicating that FSD might be a product/service in search of a customer. The last report I saw was that only 3% of people chose to keep FSD after their initial 30 day promotional trial was over. That tells me that people consider it a novelty, but they do not consider it a high enough value feature to actually pay for. Also, also, at the risk of diving into the hot topic, I'm finding myself less and less inclined to give any money at all to Tesla, including in the form of Superchargers. At this point, I can only think of one route that I actually need the Superchargers to complete, so they are relegated to emergency use only. It's also why I'm not super interested in a car with a native J3400 port at this point. Until more public charging providers start offering native J3400 support, it would actually be an inconvenience to have a J3400 port because I would be using CCS1 plugs 99% of the time.

The Mach-E and Lightning are going to have to carry Ford EV-wise for a long time (2027?) but I’m not sure how they’re going to do it effectively. We just drove a Honda Prologue and a Mach-E back-to-back, and the Mach-E felt dated by comparison. The Mach-E drove well (I liked it better than the Prologue), but the displays are spartan and lacking in polish (and SLOW) compared to the Prologue. What was ok in 2021 is no longer acceptable in 2025. Even the Lightning has a better instrument panel, so we know Ford can do it, but for whatever reason, the company has allowed the Mach-E to languish.
@Molishious5 күн бұрын
The Mach E comes out next year with a heat pump and a redesigned center console, moving the shifter to a stalk. I’ve test drive them both and prefer the setup of the Prologue but want the excessive horsepower of the Mach E GT. The Prologue is just adequate. Not sure if For is doing anything thing with the tech. I didn’t much care for the setup of the screen on my test drive but didn’t really have enough time to be sure. I was impressed by the horsepower on the freeway. The biggest problem with the Prologue is I’m not sure that Honda will make them for very long and I’m not sure they’ll be the best for servicing them. I’m pondering the idea of a lease.

People do not buy Teslas because of Musk, but have no trouble using Tesla Superchargers? How does that make sense? More people buy Teslas because of Musk and what he and Tesla have done for the EV community. Tesla still sells more EVs than Hyundai/Kia, Ford, and GM combined.
