tested both the 2024 z900 and the new mt 09 they are both really nice and powerful, but the mt 09 is more comfortable with its sitting position, more tech and very easy to maneuver ( 20 kilos lighter) i was hoping for a better upgrade for the new z900 but kawasaki is too lazy to just threw some tech and call it a day hence i ordered the new mt 09

I'm half surprised any of the other Japanese manufacturers are still in business considering Yamaha is the only one of them that has done any innovation in the past 10 years. Kawasaki plays catch up while Honda and Suzuki are apparently happy where they're at.

This is definitely going to be a hard choice! I am loving the redesign on both of these models. I am wondering with full bolt ons + tune if the Z will not make up the weight difference to HP disadvantage. There is one error I found in the video though that I wanted to point out for our short kings. The seat height is not 830 MM on new model. It is still at 31.9 inches or roughly 810 MM. You can go to Kawasaki main site and lists it there under specs - details.

My Yamaha: Although I own a 2021 Yamaha MT09SP (the very first of the new gen3 in our city in Sep 2021), but it took a couple years of hard work and modifications to make it work right. Not to mention all those recalls due to poor connectivity. Every time I ride it in the rain or wash it, the cruise control is inoperative for a few days or if I unscrew the O2 sensor, clean it and screw it back in. Not to mention the wire harness connections to the O2 sensor were both prone to moisture damage and corrosion. I had to take a bicycle tire tube, cut it into pieces and place them on those connection points with plenty of dielectric grease to fix that problem (have to carry a tube of the grease because you never know). This took 2 years of trouble shooting. The shift lever was poorly designed, had to remove it, have it cut, extend by 1/2 inch, re-welded at 25° lower angle to stop the embarrassing false neutrals 🙄 simply adjusting the angle could not work due to a very poor-untested design. Not to mention the unstable and excruciatingly uncomfortable saddle which never sits solid. Front turn signals keep popping out and are a pain to re-attach. This is a serious R&D problem. Headlight on MT09 is lame, super lame, almost as thought they are deliberately discouraging night time riding or perhaps helping the oligarchy in their population control agenda 🤬To correct the poor lighting, after much research and pain-in-the-neck, I finally installed additional driving lights. The brights or flash switch is by the thumb; this can be very, very dangerous (corrected in the 2024 model). By the time you find the switch with your thumb, you may already be either in the ICU or Pearly Gates. My Kawasaki: I bought the very first in our city of the 1000SX Ninja in 2020 the first year of its launch (Feb 2020 - week before Covid lock-down). 99% PROBLEM FREE (except for a small connectivity issue). Rode it through, rain, snow, terrible storms, no trouble at all! Shifter lever super nice to adjust and most satisfactory. It is so good, so very good, that it is boring. However, I did have to apply dielectric grease to every connection I came across, especially every single fuse in the fuse box to fix a TFT clock resetting issue, but this is because of low grade materials and poor connectivity which requires user upkeep (every manufacturer is guilty of this these days). Kawasaki's headlights are amazing, simply awesome, right out of the box! Kawasaki would've been my first choice because it just works, everything always just works!

Z for a streetable bike, boat loads more torque. Power to weight ratio, the ZX will be a tad better at the very top screaming RPM, but that only matters with drag races or track. Z will feel much stronger everywhere, much more comfortable as well. Don't forget the IMU and cruise.

Z900 is 470ish pounds compared to 425 for the MT. Different weight classes, and truth be told, 470 pounds is too damn heavy for that class. The Z900 will only cruise on a highway better. It will be worse at everything else, gotta get that weight off if they want to compete.

@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket Ай бұрын
@@ori2425 According to YOU. But who are YOU, and how do you quantify this supposed massive weight penalty? By quantify, I mean explain various ways and means that this is such a horrible thing? Does it make the bike slow? Does it make it threatening to move around a garage, a parking lot? Does the weight become unwieldy to you, are you a small lightweight person? Does the weight cause the road to get damaged? Does the weight make the motorcycle absolutely miserable to steer or navigate down the highway? You have to explain why it's terrible, worst, nasty (whatever words you want to use) and simply comparing it to others is not good enough. It has more power and torque than others, by the way. So acceleration and speed aren't a problem. And if you think they are, how do you quantify a second here or there, a couple of miles per hour here or there?

MT All day. 40lbs is a big difference. Keep that extra cylinder, the CP3 sounds so much better. Buddy of mine has a 24Z900 and although the 25 will have better electronics than the 24 still doesn’t compare to the MT. After riding my 24MT he regretted getting the Z900. It just feels so light at higher speeds but planted at the same time. The z900 just didn’t have that fun factor once I rode it.

The mt is definetly more fun and engaging riding through the city and heavy traffic, but the z900 looks so much better and sexier. And with a full exhaust and tune nothing beats that screaming scratchy 4cil.
@rudyvargas5847
@rudyvargas5847 2 ай бұрын
@ the looks thing is subjective not everyone will ever agree on one thing but that’s good means we all get choices. I do love the sound of a screaming 4 but same for a triple they are not that far apart once both are tuned and get an exhaust. That’s the great thing about motorcycles, we can all relate and randomly meet at a local bike spot and start talking like we’ve been friends for a long time because of our connection to riding motorcycles.

That’s why I mentioned on my previous comment it’s great that we all have different choices. At the end of the day no bike is perfect. We all do our research good and bad about bikes and decide. What’s good for me may not be good for the guy next to me and vice versa. But I will say that I’m glad that at the end of the day we all share a passion for these machines and we can meet up randomly at a local spot and have something in common and strike up a conversation that never gets old. Ride safe my friend and enjoy your Z900. I know I’ll be enjoying my MT09 ✌️
