I was hoping for a 7.2L Hemi. All it takes is a 4.00 stroke crank on the 6.4 The heads already flow well. The 6.4 needs more torque to compete.
@craigg42462 ай бұрын
I would support that as long as it had no MDS!

@christopherjb274Ай бұрын
@ragingbull3406 i think direct connection/mopar already makes the 426 hemi in crate form. Thats 7L 606 hp 600 plus ft lbs of torque. Im sure itll never enter a production truck considering Stellantis has all but killed the hemis and V8s in general.
@itsJayden461Ай бұрын
They make a 7.0 supercharged Hemi aka the hellephant engine
@SjanzoАй бұрын
Wont happen. A turbocharged 5.7 hemi will make more torque at much better fuel efficiency. Because the same block also comes as 7 liter, there will be enough cooling capacity around the cylinders for longevity.

@thomasheer8252 ай бұрын
Why not simply take a look at the leaning tower of power, yep the old slant 6. You could build a 7 main bearing stroker 6 with a longer stroke and bigger pistons coupled with fuel injection and boost to achieve the same at a much lower cost. Sorry everyone is fixated on horsepower, but torque is the item that gets the job done. Look at the old Ford 300, people are putting boost on them and making that power, all from their home shop operations.
@MrThewhip3332 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree, I had a 300 six and one of the best, any inline six is ideal.
@sfbfriendАй бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more! Inline 6's were torque powerhouses, whether it's the Ford 300, my favorite, the Chrysler slant 6 or GM's inline 6. All three companies made good inline engines. One more thing, why in the hell can't this channel use a real human for narration?

Im not buying this video. I live in the motorcity Stellantis has packed up its HQ and mostly closed 2 very big assembly plants. Word is Jeep and Ram are moving 100% to mexico and both are on the chopping block. Turn a profit or they are done..maybe Ram should build its own Diesel power plant..just a thought.
@bikdavАй бұрын
That’s a good suspicion. Seeing that Cummins is on their own (in other words, NOT owned by Stellantis), I’m pretty certain that Cummins could sell that engine to other commercial truck makers.
@kevinmccune9324Ай бұрын
SA hates ram apparently.
@SjanzoАй бұрын
@@bikdavCummins has granted exclusivity to Dodge in the 80s for the B series engine in pickups (Ford only uses them in heavier chassis-cabs). Thats why they made the 5 liter V8 to offer to other truckbrands If it wasnt and everybody had the Cummins, Fiat would have put their own 6.7 in it long ago.

Cummins has built spark ignition engines for years
@MrNismopro2 ай бұрын
I wonder is EPA made them use even thinner push rods and rockers than the 19+ 6.7’s, or are they going to run 0-W16 oil? 😬
@gabrielback56152 ай бұрын
The weight of this engine would destroy the trucks load capacity compared to Ford and GM gasoline offerings.
@bigedmayra2 ай бұрын
The Duke says, I'm a Ford guy but all this sounds pretty good on paper. Problem is it's going to make for an even more expensive truck that nobody's buying already. Ford included. They cost as much as a Dodge. Plus I don't know anybody that would want a 200 horsepower engine. The high torque will get you off the line but you may struggle at highway speeds with a load. They should have concentrated on improving the hemi. It looks like the 7.3 Godzilla from Ford (which I have one in my f-550) is what motivated Ram to do this. V-8 is golden in the United States. What did I teach you?

I can read that truckers would rather take the Hurricane, than this new Cummins...
@christopherjb2742 ай бұрын
Can anyone, including who posted this, actually confirm any of this. I have not heard anything about cumins actually releasing this engine, let alone for use in Ram trucks, all i can seem to find is that its under development. Also i cannot find any confirmation that the 6.7 diesel in the ram trucks is being bumped to a higher displacement...again just rumors.
@LetsDriveYT2 ай бұрын
Ram TRX wasn't official,but there were plenty of rumors and hints suggesting it will happen.
@BB-ow7bi2 ай бұрын
Absolutely nothing about this makes sense. Gasoline engines are typically picked by fleet managers and consumers based on the fact that they're ten thousand dollars or more or less than a diesel. I can't imagine they're gonna sell a single one of these. If they're a hundred horsepower down and it's an eight thousand dollar option.
@LetsDriveYT2 ай бұрын
We'll see. Gas engine working as diesel is bold statement, but hard to do. But if they do...
@tigertelecom1Ай бұрын
Ford’s Triton V10 was/is a great 310 hp gasoline alternative to diesel. Ran that in our 550 chassis Motorhome with full water and gas tanks, pulling a car, over the Wasatch Summit a few years back. No strain, no overheating, just solid mid-range pull.
@BillLaBrieАй бұрын
It might be worth the $8k but not if it’s just a diesel that runs on gas. Diesels have a lot of problems thanks to EPA regs. Gas engines have fewer problems. Cummins has a shot at making a beast of a commercial gas engine from scratch that will satisfy the need for reliable towing power while also working as a hillbilly status symbol.
@nightstorm9128Ай бұрын
Why not go back in time and start producing the pushrods slant six again,,Make a 6.7 slant six with VVT and a big turbo ,,Keep the weight down by using aluminum alloy block,,You could easily push 400+ hp and 550flb ,,
@itsJayden461Ай бұрын
I would love it if they just put the a new 3.0 Hurricane engine in the heavy duty trucks and then to make it even better make them hybrids so people wouldn't whine and b*tch that there was a a small engine in a heavy duty truck. The video is right, the Cummins Gas engine will have some down falls, it's gonna happen because again, Cummins is a diesel engine company. One thing I'm weirded out about is Dodge is using the Hurricane to replace the 5.7 hemi because the hurricane makes more horsepower and torque thanks to it's twin turbos, but not twin turbo the hemi? Just sayin🤷♂️

Why is there ANY development being wasted on new engines? gov mandate 2035 all engines must be EMISSIONS FREE. If it burns fuel it emits emissions and is banned. Even propane-natgas & hydrogen burning engines have emissions and will be banned. While hydrogen power cells will convert hydrogen into electricity with water emissions will be permitted and electric. HOWEVER, today, hydrogen powered vehicles cost 4X what electric or gas or diesel cost to operate so lots of luck making hydrogen viable. Whether you like EV of not, it is coming. !
