One of the reasons I loved my 4Runner was that it didn't have too many technical gadgets. I like the simplicity of having a car that let's me drive. The technology is inevitable but I still wouldn't trade my 5th gen. Just gonna have to have both in the driveway.

As a Camry and RC350 owner, I love my Toyotas (and Lexus. Lexi?). I’ll never own another brand. They’re functional. They’re beautiful. They’re built well. AND THEY LAST! The RC is super fun. I’m glad to see Toyota refreshing their vehicles in ways that aren’t dramatically technological. Technology is great… But I personally want physical buttons. I don’t want to go into a separate climate menu to blast my a/c, etc. Just damn good vehicles all around.

I absolutely love that the drivetrains for most of the new Toyota vehicles are the same. It might seem like a “parts-bin” approach to design but it’s what makes Toyota vehicles so reliable; Jidoka is an excellent manufacturing mentality, especially when the parts across the lineup are similar if not the same, one fixed fault will improve the entire lineup.

Made sure I picked up a 24 before they changed them. I bought mine for long term ownership and proven reliability. When the 6th gen is on the road for 5-10 years and hitting 300k+ miles, I’d consider it. I also think the 5th gen looks better.

BTW - the Ineos Grenadier misses two small details - no pillar mounted handles to enter the rear seats, and the rear seats back is fixed and do not recline…ugh for $80K+.

the interior is fantastic. you can focus on the road, and all the things and buttons and stuff thats going on in the interior just disappear. you focus on the things and buttons and stuff, and its tastefully laid out. the exterior. frickin finally a manufacturer makes an suv like something out of an action movie. Tahoe, Explorer, Durango, the americans all miss the mark. this one looks great. they need to win style awards. were getting these designs for like a decade. really grateful. if only toyota would tank the price, because trucks have been basically the same forever. and yet the prices still go up!

The reason to get a 4-Runner instead of a Tacoma was the superior backseat, but it's actually worse than the pickup now. The backseat ingress, egress is terrible and the legroom is definitely tighter than last gen.

It looks the same as my 5th Gen and it’s definitely bigger than the new Tacoma’s back seat as I’ve already had the misfortune of trying to stuff myself into it when they had one sitting at my local dealership. The backseat of the 4Runner was never it’s strong suit anyway, but for it’s size, it’s usable space is still nearly class leading. I was waiting to see the new 4Runner before deciding between that and the new Tacoma, but it’s a no brainer for me to stick with the new 4Runner after seeing it now. I’ll be placing an order as soon as Toyota opens the order book.

5th generation TRD Pro looks better and has a more bulletproof engine. This naturally aspirated engine was unstoppable. Now, the prices 5th generation will go up. It's a pity that I didn't decide earlier 😞. Not every change leads to better results.

Also the trailhunter has No sunroof because of a factory rack that will get switched out lol Also need to see traditional colors, not these party colors. Interesting that they chose the 1st gen Sequoia body (with a bit of a Pilot inspiration to it) for this new generation of 4Runner. Also interesting they went with a giant infotainment screen, but I like the complete redesign. Definitely will be on my radar in a couple of years.

Nope. This isn't it. They will soon find out the naturally aspirated V6 was a main reason they sold so many of the previous gen for so long. Turbocharging is unnecessary in these and adds too many extra failure points, and consequently headaches, for long term ownership. Don't say they had to do it for emissions because they didn't

With the same TNGA-F platform across three vehicles [4Runner, LC, GX] I would assume the rear seat legroom would be essentially the same. Is that your real world experience when you have reviewed the other two in the past?

Rear seat is significantly smaller than the GX and LC. The LC/GX cabin is taller by 5 inches and has more vertical A pillars. The front seats are further forward as a result leaving more room for the backseats. The extra height also allows them to hide the hybrid battery better whereas on the 4runner it intrudes into the cabin space.

New 4Runner and virtually all other new cars, add way too much tech. I’m willing to bet a kidney that the new 4Runners are going to have more problems than previous generations.

Looks amazing BUT, its missing a 100HP from the Ranger Raptor and those are not 33's, they are 31's like the tacoma. 265's aren't 33's. 285's are 33's. ;)

those are 18 inch wheels 265/70-r18 = 32.61 not a true 33 but everybody rounds up nowadays
