To put things in perspective , the Camry Hybrid made its debut in 2007 with 178 hp, 38 mpg and a base price around $26,500. For 2025 the base Camry LE provides 225 hp, 51 mpg and far more features for a price of $29,500. Is there a better sedan bargain in the USA? I know there isn't one in Canada because the brains trust running Toyota Canada has decided our base model will be the SE. 😡😡
@Cruor342 ай бұрын
Base Tesla or AWD long range Tesla Model 3 is a better deal, assuming you don't drive over 250 miles a day. MUCH more power, and all the bells and whistles like vented seats come standard. $7500 credit off in the USA. Little more money but you get a lot more. I have free charging at my apartment, but even if you have a house you can charge at home, the electric costs less than gas, and that's TN, not CA like you might expect. Also, Tesla does not have dealerships, the price is just the price. I was looking at a Toyota Rav4 hybrid a while back and it was 5k over MSRP. Guy told me they sell for that price and if I don't like it don't buy it. So I didn't.

The exterior looks great and that particular color on your test car was beautiful, but the interior dash looked clunky as if they didn't put any thought into making it look fluid.
@ajsoli122 ай бұрын
That’s because the interior isn’t completely all new. You can see behind the left side of the screen is a piece of grey plastic where the previous gen Camry had its air vents. In 2021, Toyota shifted the screen higher for its facelift and just put a piece of plastic in the spot where the 2018 air vents were. Toyota is doing it again but it’s not as obvious since the new screen is bigger. The gear shifter and lower parts of the door trim are exactly the same as the previous gen.

It’s interesting how car manufacturers are axing sedans off their lineups because they think people are not interested in sedans anymore… If the Honda accord or Nissan Maxima came as an AWD, plug in hybrid with 50 miles of EV range and 50 miles per gallon in hybrid mode, I would buy one in a heartbeat, but instead of making their sedans more competitive, they just get rid of them.
@AlrienJ2 ай бұрын
The Honda Clarity was pretty much just a lift back plug-in hybrid Accord rated for 42mpg combined in hybrid mode, or 47 miles on electric only. They're not making them anymore but you can get them used dirt cheap. Pretty close to what you're wishing for, and it was launched way back in 2018, now discontinued. "You don't know what you've got til it's gone". Hopefully they will eventually replace it with an Accord plug-in like they replaced the outgoing 2022 Insight with the 2025 Civic Hybrid

@beb15272 ай бұрын
If you want the V6 for it's smoothness and reliability, then yes. Somehow (for me at least), 300+ hp and FWD do not play nice together. I wanted the last Japanese V6 drivetrain in a sedan - even going as far as considering 53k+ for a Lexus ES350 with FSport Handling package - hoping the firmer suspension would allow the car to translate all those ponies to acceleration. But it didn't. 1/2 throttle from a stop, just breaks the wheels loose and engages the traction control and that ends the party. I was all ready for it to be the last car I ever own (I keep my cars for 10+ years). My 2015 Honda Accord EX-L V6 is able to put more of its power down before the traction control takes over. With the Honda V6 gone from the Accord, and now the Toyota V6 gone from the Camry, and probably soon from the ES - I tried so hard to like it.

We are on our 4th Camry, a 2011 and the 2.5L refuses to die at 137,000 miles. I am planning to replace the brakes for the first time in the next couple of months. In my numerous cross country trips with this 2011 Camry, I can honestly say that it has superb acceleration on the highway from 60MPH to 80MPH, which as most of you know many Western highways have an 80MPH speed limit. Not sure why there are so many negative comments about appearance, but I prefer a long relationship with a vehicle, vice buying the best looking car (Hyundai/KIA) that does not last as long.
