I have a 250w solar panel and it has the MPPT 20amp controller (kings) attached, charging a 138Ah AGM with the Kings 12 v battery monitor fitted on the maxi battery box. Yesterday i brought a new 120 Ah Lithium battery and a 15amp PWM Solar Controller. (the 138Ah is too heavy for my back) 1 - do I have to use the 15amp PWM solar controller with the 250w panel charging the 120Amp Lithium or can I continue using the 20 amp MPPT that was originally on the solar panel I brought last month? 2 - Can I continue to use the battery monitor I brought last month with the new Lithium battery ( maybe turn down all the low voltage and turn up the high voltage settings and run the monitor on AGM?) please advise best action I should do. regards Peter

Does this have an inbuilt fuse or breaker cheers have the 200w kit and curious if I need to add a fuse at the battery because it dosent come with one so I can only assume it's in the controller and if not that's a bit of a problem if things get hot a waiting your reply cheers

Do you need a fuse between controller and battery? Instructions say yes, but videos infer no.

No, these are designed for lead acid batteries only.

Hi, new to the this game and bought the 200 watt solar blanket which included the MPPT. Qusetion, can i charge my phone directly from the 5v usb point without charging a Battery at the same time? Can i connect my 12volt fridge, 60 litre from Kings, via a 12 volt plug, to the MPPT, but the MPPT not connected to any Battery? If no, ehy not.... thanks in advance

No you can't.. The whole system needs power input from a battery to work .. It needs the batter for one to figure out how much power to output .. 12 or 24 volts ..

This video sold me! Two questions; does the 5v Output draw from the connected battery or run directly from the panel? Can it be damaged if I remove the battery but leave the solar panel connected. ie, run it without load?

YES!!! Youll melt the internal fuses. I did that, once, and opened unit and soldered in a new fuse. A dif unit than this one.

I plugged solar panel into battery as explained however volts go as high as 18 on the digital screen on battery . Red Lights go from steady to flashing on Mppt controller . I assume this is not right ? Video says plug in and leave . Any advice . Thanks

Just cut off the MC4 plugs from solar panel and stick into pos and neg panel terminals on unit. Mark wires pos and neg before cutting off mc4 plugs, so you dont cross the polarity on the SCC

Just make them .. It's not hard . All components are available on eBay.. These cables are also all available on eBay. Jaycar has a selection of options . But trust me get into making your own and you can make any combinations you want .. Just make sure you use good cabling.. look on KZbin Soldering Anderson plugs ..

The one I have doesn't seem to cut off when battery is charged so will output over 16V which causes big problems for system

Just installed one of these and works so far. The manual is pretty vaque though. What do you use the DC load terminals for. On my more expensive one I could set it up to turn on when the solar voltage drops. Is this one on all the time?

I'm trying to find when it DCs rn, panels dc'd and my battery is down to 11.5 n no load cut yet, what I can gather is it's 10.8 witch imo is too low for a load dc

Yes it is 10.8volts for LVD witch gives 11.2v resting hope this helps

@@wayne9508Hey Wayne. I bought mine 5 days ago ( April 18, 2022).I have 2 100 watt rich solar (mono) panels in parallel, feeding this unit . It has, twice, kept the charge to my 2 new 100 AH deep cycle flooded lead acid batteries at 14.9 volts (like, all day). It showed 16 volts charging once, also.I disconnected the unit and reconnected. They then levelled out to 13.7 v. I have a battery monitoring shunted meter at my batteries. 14.9 scares me. Trying to find out why this has happened. You cannot program this unit. Is this the kind of thing that you have going on with your unit?

Hey guys iv been loving this controller but noticed that it doesn't actually full charge my lithium (lifepo4) battery fully about 93% 13.4v no matter how much solar I give it is it not actually comparable with lithium?

I have purchased this mppt controller and have a question.. Maybe an issue .. It will charge then for some reason stop charging. Solar light goes out .. Only info I can find in manual is this happends when solar panel voltage is less than light control voltage .. And i can't find any info as to what the statement even means .. What is light control voltage ???? Please help ???

@@4wdsupacentreAu But it's the charge controller solar input light that goes out .. And it stops charging .. I only have a AGM battery so there is no programs on the Battery .. Only thing I can think of is this happends when solar input is less voltage than current battery Voltage ...

I had the same question as I'm used to pwm controllers that just seem to charge at a fairly constant voltage where my new mppt is constantly turning on and off so I'm assuming it's because the battery charge is fairly high and it doesn't need much more charging
